Nice Work ! i fixed one that i got out of the trash earlier today , had a bad cap on the gyro board and one failed solder joint for the power wire to the gyro .

I have almost the same problem. My charger is constantly green No matter what all the way to the bms chip I get 43v. The bms only is letting 2.5v or Less to each cell. How can I charge the cell pack without burning them up. I still don't know if it's the bms chip because I'm charging it with the boards disconnected but still not getting the 4.35v that the batteries need to be charged at

Awesome repair job! It's funny how little power it takes to make a LED light up, i had old LED ceiling lamps that would keep glowing really faintly in the dark even with the wall switch turned off because the switch only broke one leg of the AC wiring

Actually, the kapton tape is really thin, and should conduct heat. The heat resistance refers to the fact that the tape is resistant to heat, not that it is a poor conductor. Some mosfets have tabs that are electrically insulated from the pins, so they can be connected directly to the heat sink without electrical connection between other mosfets on board. I repaired a golf cart, and didn't have the isolated kind of mosfet, so I used kapton to insulate it.

I have a hoverboard Skymaster 11 double wheels, the board turns on and after a while it stops working, I disconnect plug from batery to electronics. I take multimetr, and there is a shortcut on the electronics. I take schorcut plus with the minus in electronics plug, i take multimetr and i do not have schortcut , after connecting electronic devices it works again, what could be wrong?

If you have a red flashing light on one side and it wont move and Recalibrate doesn't fix it... Check all plugs and wires are getting good connection (Especially the 5 wire sockets). If they are and it still don't move then it probly has a blown output fet on the side thats red. They're easy to change.. MAKE SURE BATTERY IS UNPLUGGED!! Measure the Mosfets, 6 on a heatsink per side(GDS)... Usually only 1 or 2 short... DMM to Diode, Neg on Center pin (Drain), Gate approx +1.5v, Source approx .5v. YST7575C crosses to RU6888R 68v 88a TO220

I used to rewind that tape into 5m 1050mm logs for cutting ...think I got control circuit corrosion on yellow wire side .... Someone copping Aldi had the same board but green and heatsink like what he's done

The lights are supposed to face forward so that should help you ride it

Hi. Way late to the rodeo, but watched Parts 1 and 2 despite not knowing much about electronics but v. impressed about your analytical skills, not to mention your presentation skills. Congrats on your success! Did you ever RTFM and do the calibrate procedure to get the gyroscope to do its job? And/or get a 14yo to determine if the gyro was actually functional? And BTW were you attempting to ride it facing forward? Dunno whether that matters. I'm 72 and neurologically balance compromised so I can't ride the things myself but am curious about these things. I've got two hover boards I intend to make hover chairs with so ran across your vid while doing research. Anyway, thanks for the education and if you have time to answer, I'd greatly appreciate it. Now I know why my hoverboard refuse to charge. Cheapo boards has battery voltage available on the charging port, while mine has protective shottky diode - no way to detect voltage by measurement on the connector. But, I found the solution - disconnect charger and let capacitors in the charger to empty. It is NOT sufficient to wait until green LED turns off - need little bit more time to discharge completely. Then plug FIRST charger into board, then charger into wall plug. Cheapo boards does not care which you turn first in or out.
