Cool video man :) it would be best (for most) to Disconnect the Positive wire on the servo-wire of one of the ESC's.. Basically Both your BEC's power the receiver (and servo's) and that Can work, but not for all types of ESC's..

Good point. Yes, I have heard that. So far it has been working fine for me. And actually, as long as it doesn't cause issues, it actually seems like an advantage to have a redundant power source for the rx.

@@RCwithAdam1 Yes.. in a lot of cases it simply works.. The more technical story: if you use Linear BEC's.. it at least works.. If you have Switching BEC's.. it will very much NOT work :D the trouble then is that it's offten not specified (What kind of BEC the ESC has)

Hi if you have 2esc's with a bec you should only have one 5v feeding the resever as other whose they may cause problems with the resever

Not sure with your transmitter, however with my dx6i. When I bind I place throttle at centre point, that gives me reverse. Like the way you just go to the point, no bull.

Great video - thanks. However, being a newbie to this - a question please? At around 11.50 you show either full throttle or cutting the throttle to zero and then throttle by the Rudder/Yaw channel - what happens if you have say half throttle and then push left or right rudder/yaw? My concern being, I would not want to cut all thrust before turning? Am I missing something? Any advice from anyone would be gratefully received!

You shouldn't have to set the offset at all. I found out that if you go to channel output in the rx menu you need to set whichever channels you're putting your mixes on set to "None". For instance if your 2nd motor is on channel 5 and it's set to VRA or VRB the motor output can be controlled by the dial and is why you would have a difference in speeds.

Would you need left motor turning Clockwise and right motor turning Counter Clockwise from behind the props, or vise versa? Or just leave the props spinning in same direction?

Thank you so much for posting this. I am building a dual propeller boat, and i found this video very helpful to eliminate the need for a rudder. I noticed though you have not disconnected the "positive" wire for ESC2 when you plugged it into the Receiver. I have seen other videos where it is advised to disconnect. I prefer not to disconnect the positive wire. Would this cause any issues? These are all parallel BEC +5V circuit, so I do not see any issues. I am not sure why many youtube videos recommend to disconnect the positive red wire for the secondary ESC. Thanks once again for posting such helpful videos. It would have taken a while to figure this out using the manual. You saved me a whole lot of time and probably hours of frustration... lol.

Yes ur correct it shouldn't be a problem keeping those wires connected to rx, but why do many utubers recommend disconnecting well one point is tht, I don't exactly know (but coming from an electronics background) I could tell that, maybe the receiver current (mah) requirements is low and so connecting both esc's to receiver (when both are in Operation) could supply more current than required to the receiver and could potentially fry some components in it. Jst a thing to keep in mind, as small components have delicacy a small upsurge in current could make things not work properly. Hope this helps, Love from India❤

I'm trying to figure out how to control 2 motors from my throttle (left) stick and be able to Yaw left and right with the motors with the Rudder (left) stick, I'm using the Spektrum DX6... Mixing is new to me

Hey Adam I am new to RC, and have bought a new FS i6X Tx and a couple of 6 channel Rx to match. I watched your video on two motor control. I want to control a land vehicle, 4 wheels, with front wheel drive, (not steerable) and use differential thrust to steer with the two front wheel motors. I followed the video instructions and set up the Mix 1 as stated, and found the throttle stick at full up would not change the pulse width enough to get the motor started. I put my oscilloscope on the Ch 3 signal pin, and could see the string of pulses coming thro, but the throttle stick would only alter the duty cycle (pulse width) of the pulses from about 5% to about 10%, not enough to get the motor running. If I put an external PWM generator onto the ESC throttle input, it runs the motor up and down the RPM range (from zero to full speed) in line with the pulse width (duty cycle) as expected. So the ESC and motors are OK. Any suggestions as to how I can get the Tx to produce a range of pulses from 0% to 100 % in width? Is it a Tx setting I have mucked up? Cheers Ken

Loved your tutorial and I got it all working with just one little problem, my left stick down which is normally no throttle, is w.o.t. .So to back it off I need to raise the stick to the top. I tried reversing it on the channel reversing but no luck. What am I doing wrong?

I want to know If you want to insert a gyro, can you use the Mix control program? We didn't plug the signal cable into the channel. Gyro's rudder, but using a method Mix that you teach Will the gyro work normally? will control channel 4 Rudder too?

Hi Adam, thanks for the excellent guide. Can I have a question because I am fully new in the RC world? This "differential thrust" seems to be the correct setup for the motors of my tank T34 to move the tracks realistically. To clarify if possible. Because the tank also must move backward and I have a centered throttle joystick, I should have a 4th mix for my "throttle" as well but in an opposite way like Mix#1. So Mix#4 as Master Ch5, Slave Ch3, Pos. mix -100%, Neg. mix -100% and maybe adjust the Offset properly as well. Is my assumption correct or have I fully messed this up?

I have a problem, set up boat (which is the same as for an airplane) I try to make work my 2 brushless motor at the same time but that does not work just one works. Flysky FS-i6 controller two GOOLRC Brushless motors with 2ESC RCharlance with 1 Reedy servo. I bind my controller with the receiver, I put a chanel 2 master engine then an engine on the chanel 5 in Slave, only one engine is running! (I do not know what the problem is if it is incompatible at ESC level since it is two alike!? Need info Please

Hi! I would try adjusting the throttle curve or the endpoints (or possibly the subtrim) for the channels that the motors are using.

Hello Adam. Saw a 9 year old video from another rc enthusiast, where he programmed a turnigy(flysky?) transmitter with a windows/linux based program. I downloaded the program and will try to use when my fs-6x arrives. In the program, the youtuber assigned mixes to switches. So the switches activated or deactivated the mix. Can that be done on current flysky transmitters?

Hi! To reverse the motor, you'll need an esc capable of reversing.

Hi Armando! You would need a ESC that is capable of reversing motor polarity (like on a RC car).

Great video, I did the exact setup and calibrated every esc separately, but when I connect to channel 3 and 5 one motor doesn't respond and keeps beeping as if it is set to calibration... any ideas? I am using the same remote and receiver and two motors are same kind

@awocrf I setup with two ESCs with a separate battery for each ESC and I get one motor spinning, then I use a Y-harness connected to the ESCs with singe battery connected to the Y-harness and I get the same single motor spinning. At this point I'm going to get 2 new ESCs and start over.

Hi! A bind plug is really just a way to connect two of the three pins of a servo port. It's used to put the receiver into binding mode to establish radio connection with the transmitter.

wouldn't you want the motors to spin the same rpm instead of them starting up at the same time. it seems like the one on the right spins alot faster but starts later. so they were actually going the same rpm's but one of the motors is of worse quality so it doesn't start up untill higher voltages

jynx 1966, I have a Spektrum DX8e and use it to control a Redcat Everest 10 rock crawler. I am new to RC so don't know a lot of key words and tricky phrases or how to program what I accomplished. Controlling power to the motor on the right stick is the secret to my success. I plugged the ESC into various slots of the 6 channel Spektrum AR620 receiver until I found the spot for the right stick on the controller which has a spring return to neutral. Neutral is stop, down is reverse, up is forward, left and right on the stick turn the RC car's front steering servo left and right. The left stick (throttle) controls a pan/tilt assembly holding a camera. A three position switch on the controller adjusts the rear steering to straight, left, and right.

Hi! I don't know a whole lot about boats, but are the motors spinning in the same direction? Maybe it is turning due to torque? Otherwise, I would play around with that mix and/or the throttle curve and endpoints.

Offset is used to make the motors start at the same time, for me offset was +5%. If you have 2 motors and one is starting first and then the other one you have to adjust the offset.

Hi! Yes, you could use a why lead, but the motors would always be synced together. So you could not do any differential thrust stuff.

WARNING now motors will start with rudder regardless of throttle hold. Solution, EXAMPLE in assign switches set Fly mode SWC (or same as throttle hold switch) Then in Dual Rates Ch4 rudder set either normal or sport to 0% Rate so rudder will not activate motors.

Do not use the positive v. ( middle pin) on one of the esc. It could be bad for the receiver. If you do not have enough mixes I once made, with perfect result a mechanical solution. On a wood frame put a small servo, Y connected to the rudder. With 2 small micro switch's ( or a 2 part beryllium metal stripe) on each side of the servo arm so that the servo arm touches the switch arm at a distance you set. With the signal wire from the 2 esc going through one of the switches the signal to a motor will be interrupted and the desired motor will lose signal and stop. Used this for several years before a newer transmitter was acquired. This was for a fixed wing application.

Hi! I've been told that is the correct procedure, though I have not personally experienced issues from leaving both connected.

You shouldn't have any problems if you are powering two identical esc from 1 battery. But 2 batteries? Definitely disconnect 1.
