UPDATE Cheating Ex Wife Is Now Out Of The Affair Fog & Now Broke & S--cidal... Surviving Infidelity

Күн бұрын

I'll try to keep this as short as possible. In November my then-girlfriend of five years (and the mother of my three year old son) cheated on me. I had taken our son to my grandparents (as I always do on weekends) and she stayed behind our apartment. She asked me to call an Uber for her to see a friend, didn't respond to my texts the rest of the day and could not account for her time/whereabouts when I asked the next day.
Fast forward to NYE, she got drunk and bragged to a mutual friend that she had banged someone on the night in question (someone I know). The mutual friend told me, I was livid and told my ex to pack all of her stuff and leave the apartment.
When I probed about the infidelity, she said she had no choice but to cheat because I "had grown distant" and she felt I didn't love her anymore.
Story 1:
Affair fog is lifting from ex girlfriend
Story 2:
I found out my husband cheated on me with strippers and I feel dead inside

So.. I know as to why they talk to each other about it in story 2, it's like Trophy sharing, like say they are avid fishers or hunters, they are gonna share their catches as a trophy to marvel each other with. Odds are that this group goes way back like high school or middle school kind of back. But it's just unfortunate they chose to go this route. Btw so sorry it happened, but keep forging the way ahead for you and the unborn child. With the help of your mom you can get back on your feet and the support group with the fellow wives was a good idea.

@Michael Anderson Absolutely correct. Also, 0P needs to wait to file any proceedings. The longer the child is with him, the more inclined a judge will be to grant custody of the child to OP. The judge will figure, correctly, “the child seems to be doing well. If the situation isn’t broken, don’t fix it.“

@Michael Anderson probably 20% of the stories I listen to seem fake. The story unfolds too perfectly. It is too clear: too black and white. Dear Abby used to say that she could tell fakes from women with real problems. The letters from women with real problems were babbling, disjointed, had ink smeared from tears, and so on. They did not unfold like a movie script.

"Affair fog" is implying that she isn't really herself when she betrays you, you are supposed to think that what happened during the "affair fog" phase is not part of who she normally is. It's for people who can't or don't want to accept what their SO is capable of doing, what is part of them.
@KingNirada
@KingNirada 3 жыл бұрын
I never saw the term that way, I always used it interchangeably with "new relationship energy" or NRE (depending on the context) where it's just hard to see all the damage you're causing around you when you pick someone else over your SO because you're so hyped on the new feelings. Never felt it took away from it being a choice of their own making just harder to stop because the mounting consequences aren't immediate. But I guess it's just a matter of how the terms are taken I suppose.
@Niveous23
@Niveous23 3 жыл бұрын
it's not a 'fog'. she's felt this way long before she cheated according to OP. and she felt no remorse at all after divorce. she doesn't even feel bad now that AP dumped her. she's asking if 'you're doing okay?" is how a narcissistic person gets high. they LOVE knowing you haven't gotten over them. it gives them life. she hasn't had that 'come to jesus' moment at all. i'v heard of fog stories. OP is wrong to call it one. she's never expressed true remorse over betraying him. hell, she bragged about it to friends. she's cold like a reptile. i don't think being a broke bum, and having sad puppy eyes about it counts. and the 'suicide attempts' are prolly just attempts for attention. usually people that really want to end it all. her words betray her. if she was suicidal it's only over financial reasons. her only guilt is getting caught.
@ughicanteven5896

I always thought it meant the same this as the "honeymoon phase" or her being excited by the affair but once the fog has she sees that she's lost everything and the grass isn't greener
@BW022
@BW022 2 жыл бұрын
I've never see it used in terms of the starting or even carrying on the affair. The term is normally used when the affair is discovered and the person makes irrational decisions based on needing to see the AP at almost any cost -- the marriage yes, but also putting herself is a worse position in the divorce, signing unfavorable agreements, moving out, ignoring family and friends warning her, overlooking AP is married or not going to be serious with her, abandoning children, easily being blackmailed to protect the AP's job or marriage, etc. It also implied that the fog will lift when they have to live with AP or feel the longer-term consequences. It also has a good connotation in that they make getting them out, divorces, breaking contact, custody, etc. easier.
@Swnsasy
@Swnsasy 2 жыл бұрын
The way it's used in Psychology is that it's like tunnel vision.. When you're in the fog you're only looking straight ahead and nothing else distracts you.. Then, when it clears, you can now see everything around you clearly and you realized you fucked up...

That last story hurts my heart. I'm a single man, 40 and no kids. I want a woman i can love in my life and kids. I can proudly say i have never cheated on anyone i dated in my life. I just have terrible luck with dating. I've usually been cheated on or due to career been seperated from someone i truly got along with and they end up happy with someone else. Which in turn makes me happy to see them happy. I used to be the typical nerdy guy that all women would pass on. But since i started working out they all think I'm a player now. Life sucks

Plenty of women out there with good jobs and brains. At 42 I was single and I had my choice of the mom type with good jobs and a kid or two. I didn’t want, nor was I expecting Barbie. I was with Barbie for 15 years and she was never satisfied and left me for another man as an old Barbie. If you can make brains and personality count, you don’t have to be alone. I opted out of the princess sweepstakes. I didn’t need a trophy any longer and had my fill.

There is one.....he picked her up, she checked his phone the next morning, where he was complaining for no having intimacy for 2 weeks (friends suggested going to a bar or Tinder). Next morning she records with her phone the messages of the group, meets with a divorce lawyer and creates a group chat with the other women (some replied, one knew a little but though he wasn’t doing it anymore).....an hour later her husband calls...his best friend pregnant wife confronted him crying, so of course he told OP’s husband. He admitted cheating (blamed the alcohol and peer pressure) and that it was the only time he had cheated, said he loves her and their baby, that he was not like his father and that he was willing to cut his friend out (not best friend), said they are toxic and he doesn’t want to be like them....OP told him he already was....after some arguing he left to stay with his brother (was in the group, didn’t cheat but openly admitted that he really wanted but was afraid of getting caught)

Its to hard to hide that kind of attitude from your partner. I know this because I do the same thing with two of my best friends we share porn,sexual memes, and very sexist and women bashing memes. My wife knows all this you just cant hide it. My wife believes only a trashy woman will post nudes of herself online and shes not trashy and she laughs at these memes with me. For the second story, I would say that is a big breach of trust...but then again all of the incriminating evidence presented is something to be very disturbing. I would take the whole group conversation and print them out to be distributed to friends, family and employers. Cheating is the cowardly thing to do. It destroys not only the relationship, but even a persons identity and self worth. If don't want commitment then you shouldn't commit. This is one of the worst things a person can do without being considered a crime. Take all the steps to preparing yourself for separation and independence before confronting him.

Story #2 - You are hurt right now, and can't see men as anything other than "the enemy." My ex-wife cut me off from all intimacy and physical contact for a full year. She admitted that I had done nothing to deserve what she put me through, but also indicated that our situation was not going to change. In all that time I was faithful to her. And even though I initiated the divorce proceedings, I was faithful during our 1 year, state-mandated separation, before we were eligible to schedule a court date. I had plenty of opportunities to have sex with other women during that time, and did not act on them. Not all men are "cheating pieces of shit." I went more than 2 years without sex, and stayed loyal. Even though I had no intension of reconciling with her and I was constantly being told she didn't deserve my loyalty, by every man and woman in my life. Some men value their word.

@@personemolity9447 I loved her. Something was wrong, and as her husband I wrongfully thought it was within my power to fix whatever problem it was. And I never thought divorce would happen to me. I tried desperately to get her to go to couples therapy with me. I tried for a year to get her to tell me what was wrong, and she would stay silent. Finally I wrote her a letter, because I wanted to get everything out in an organized manner, and I didn't want to be interrupted or derailed by a fight or her walking away from me. She wrote me a letter back and gave it to me that evening. The letter said, "it's nothing you've done, but I just don't feel like I can be intimate with you anymore. You're welcome to stick around to see if my mind changes." And that's the moment I said the words, "I want a divorce." The look of shock in her eyes, fueled my anger. I then said, "I will not be Dave" as I slammed the door and went for a long drive. Dave was her friend, and his wife cut him off from sex after the birth of his 3rd child. At the time of this "conversation," his third child was 13 years old. Thankfully we had not yet had children.

First story has all the markings of a narcissist. Is your son actually going to be better off with her in his life? She sees him as a meal ticket. That's horrible. Her son should be her NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. Not you, not her fragile ego, not her AP, none of it matters compared to him. But guess what, your son took a back burner to ALL of that. Your son is her security blanket. Disgusting. Get sole custody. Offer her liberal visitation if you feel that strongly about it. But do not give her an inch of custody. She has no job, views her son as a pay check, has easily cheated on you, and shows no remorse by continuing the affair until he dumped her. That's not a wife, and that's not a mother. She needs IC before she can try to talk about 'being civil for the sake of our child." She also needs a job to appreciate what you'v done, and to be able to support herself and have her child over. Right now she's a bum. A bum that can't even appreciate her only kid.

I could never bear a child, let alone a cheater's child, one of my greatest fears. 2. Make sure I capture the whole nasty chat on video and screenshots. Save the files safely, for later use. 3. After termination, I would pack all my stuff while he's at work and prepare to ghost him, but not before... 4. Print screenshots of the nasty chat, highlight the most abominable parts, leave it around the house 4.1 maybe neatly arranged on the table 4.2 maybe a 100 copies of it just thrown on the floor 4.3 maybe I would make a path of roses leading to the bedroom where the prints would be waiting on the bed. 5. While riding away with all my belongings I would send the captured nasty chat to everyone in question, offenders and offended, going nuclear as there is no other option. 6. _Cool guys dont look at explosions_ Epilogue: serve the SOB divorce papers

Travis, he kicked her out she didn't abandon her son. She's asking about son. Delta a mother that abandoned her child that's a that's a boyfriend who's keeping the child away from her it's not good for the child they need to learn how to co-parent he needs to get himself to the point that he has to co-parent. They have a child who needs to grow up he needs to figure out what's best for the kid. Keeping the kid away from his mother it's going to end up with his son hating him for the rest of his life. You can get revenge when you're single. But if you seek revenge when you're married with kids then you're a bad parent for seeking Revenge not think what's best for your children. Isn't that considered child abuse. What is up with people kicking people out of their houses without the 30-day notice. I don't understand why people don't actually do the lawsuit thing about she kicked me out of my house without gave me 30-day notice to find a new place to live. Change doesn't Trump 30 days notice you guys if they're living in the place they have every right to have a 30-day notice you can sleep on the couch or anything like that but you got to give them 30-day notice to find a new place.

The purpose is to spare the child the influence of a mother with a life-ruining addiction. He needs to keep him away from her until he can solve these problems. Ive lived this stuff and its not good for a kid in any way. I mean, would you have the same opinion regarding a drug addiction or severe alcoholism too? Edit: its not going to make the child hate ths father either, unless the father completely hides the truth from the child...which is also a mistake.

First thing he should have done: GET A LAWYER. It doesn't mean you have to take her to court right away, but talking to a lawyer will inform you of your options, the dangers, etc. Even just buying her that ticket or allowing her to visit the child can change things legally... An old co-worker of mine came home one day to find half the furniture missing (all her stuff gone), and their child - she tried to refuse him access to his son, he went to court and won shared custody because in the Court's eyes she "abandoned the marriage" when she just up and moved out behind his back. Talk to a lawyer, know your rights.

My husband was saying that he feels like a gay man, like other women are beautiful but he doesn't care for them. We did go through alot and alot of deal beakers not related to cheating though. But we solved it. I don't think all men do or will eventually cheat. There are some big lows in a long- term relationships that may make it more attractive at one point or another but as far as I'm concerned no one in my extented family cheated except for my grandfather but he had mental issues that made the cheating almost like nothing compared with all the rest he put his family through and we only found out when both my grandparents were dead and from what we can tell my grandmother never knew. No one of my friends cheated as far as I know. I think it depends on the type of guy you are surrounded with. There are those men I call players who just love women too much to be faithful and monogamy is nearly impossible for that type. But usually when men are committed they are committed. Surround yourself with other type of guys who value relationships and you will see that faithful trustworthy men are existing on the planet. The others are just not as worthy and some are downright disgusting!!
