Bees love super ripe bananas. This hive completely devoured this banana in less than 24 hrs.

Be careful, the scent bees releases when they are in “attack mode” is almost identical to a ripe banana. The bees may bee much more aggressive to the beekeeper if you choose this method. Also, if you leave enough honey for the bees to eat during winter or periods of dearth (low or no natural food available), the bees will be fine. Especially if you have a honey super on the hive. They will use the sugars in the banana and sugar syrup to store away as honey and that’s just wrong on multiple levels.

Why is it wrong??
@yusifjaber44804 жыл бұрын
Lychee Myusic because you will not end up with pure honey, you will end up with Sugar syrup. Bees will not be as healthy as honey fed bees and will not require being medicated.
@lycheemyusic4 жыл бұрын
@@yusifjaber4480oh i thought you said they will store the sugars as honey. So they make pure honey during productive seasons rather than in dearth? And is it because it is possibly easier for them to make sugary syrup during winter or dearth than honey? Or is it that pollen is required?
@yusifjaber44804 жыл бұрын
Lychee Myusic the bees make honey from sugar or nectar. If you feed them sugar all year long, that will contaminate the natural nectar honey. In winter, they have no food/nectar to collect so you have to leave them something to eat. Some people choose to feed the bees sugar syrup in the winter, I believe they are better off if they are left with enough honey to survive the winter.

@@yusifjaber4480 well you are right but bananas have fructose and glucose and sucarose in natural way what about honey it has also fructose and glucose in a small quantity guess what sugar has also fructose and glucose lol.. this is why beekeepers must analyse their honey in laboratory to know if it is a raw natural whitout feeding process honey ..peace from Algeria

I'm a beekeeper and can say that the entire bee stigma was created by almond growers to try and create a situation where it got cheaper to rent bees to pollinate their crop. Every year 75% of the bees in the USA are trucked to the almonds. Crazy but that's the facts. By the way I like it. I've never had it so easy to sell my honey. It's not cheap for raw local honey. Try some.

Whether someone actually got smart, or just a bunch got lucky, doesn't much matter, enough WERE RIGHT enough, THAT THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY started paying attention and looked into it, found enough hard evidence and now has added their stamped desk of "limited" approval. Cute! So happy to see them enjoying themselves. Thanks so much for taking care of them and keeping them alive dear sir
@Vaidelotelis4 жыл бұрын
They are not enjoying themselves, they are attacking the banana and are trying to remove a foreign object from their hive. If you have spent time with bees and understand bee behaviours, it is obvious. Bees don't eat bananas in the wild. They are not primates like us, they are insects. Their food is nectar and pollen in flowers. What this guy is doing is at best simply annoying the bees, he is not taking care of them

Nope, they are removing the foreign object from their hive. They do the same thing if you stick paper or dirt in the hive. Fredrick Dunn made a video explaining this.
@danielmichaelson73404 жыл бұрын
They are definitely eating the banana. If you look closely you will see the bees' proboscises lapping up the sugars in the banana. When the banana is sucked dry a shriveled up carcass is left, which the bees don't bother. Not sure what evidence Mr. Dunn is using, but you can certainly find just about anything on the internet. Hundreds of bees don't start eating dirt you put in the hive.

@@danielmichaelson7340 If you pile ANYTHING in the hive they will process (eat/remove) it. Even SUGER they will throw out of the hive if they don't want/need it. If they are in a durth they may eat/lick the sugar in the bananas but that should not be something you FEED bees. If you leave the bananas in the open the bee will not seek it out.
@danielmichaelson73404 жыл бұрын
@@gregcharles7671 You didn't read my comment fully apparently. The shriveled banana caracass is left in the hive. Are you a beekeeper or are you just getting your information from youtube videos? I have literally seen honey bees drinking raccoon blood. There is 0 question- bees get sugar from a wide range of foods including overripe bananas that are oozing sugars. I have seen bees eat bananas sitting out in the open. In fact here is a list of fruits and other sugar sources i have seen them sucking on out in the open: BANANAS, black berrries, raspberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, peaches, plums, soda syrup at a recycling plant, and probably some more that i am not remembering. Any questions?

Why are you so frightened of bees? I work mine in a tank top and shorts all summer... they'll let me know when I've overstayed my welcome. Long before they sting me. If they resort to a sting, it's painful for me, but deadly for them! Much easier for both if they warn and I pay attention.🤷♀️💞😘

I’ve wondered the same thing. The mouth of a Honeybee is more complex than it looks. The bee’s tongue works like a straw, but bees also have “mouth parts” like mandibles which they use to pick at solid food.
