I remember a friend owning one of these and loved playing action man with him, i pestered my dad for one and he actually built me one out of wood which was bigger than the original, he painted it black with green cammo, it even had a swivelling winch and rope ladders and climbing net, thinking back now it must have taken him ages building that, my parents didn’t have much money in them days and I remember my mum knitting a black SAS uniform for my action man, I appreciate all those things a lot more now than I did back then and wish I would have shown that back then but kids are kids and I never understood why I couldn’t have the real things, clearly I was still very lucky, great video and brought back great memories x thank you

That looked so much fun.iv have a mancave at the bottom of the garden and sometimes find myself having a little play with my collection of toys when I'm only ment to be giving them a bit of a dust off .just take me back to the simple days.my dad died when I was 11 years old so I had to grow up fast and missed a few year of my childhood.

Wow that was such a memory trip I so loved action man and had virtually all the vehicles at the time. This was the last major item I had and I adored it. The netting I remember was the thinner one like you had and as you were building it I could remember doing it exactly the same way. I remember a friend coming to my house and we had such a cool time playing with this set but when we finished he said do you not think your too old to be playing with stuff like this at your age. I was gutted as Id never ever thought of it that way before and promptly gave all my things away to a Blue Peter appeal. Probably the day I unfortunately turned from being a kid to an adult. Thanks for turning me back for at least 1 day it was soo much fun.

I have my one on display in my office / man cave with the box also , every body who has seen it set up with all the action men know me as a big kid at heart but they love it

Thank you for posting this. Brings back fond memories from back in the day when we were living in the U.K. During the early/mid 80's playing outside in the garden during the rare sunny days with neighbouring kids. Sadly children these days don't play outside as much as I remember back then... Once again, thanks for the post.

I had an action man every year for Christmas.....I had about 15 action men.....the jeep...2 thanks...but never the training tower . These were the best Christmas times I ever remember and the Christmas action man adverts were fantastic. Happy times. For 1 Christmas I had the action man footballer in the red and white kit I used to pretend it was George best. Great times.

We had this when we were younger too. I remember it being a special occasion when we were allowed to set it up in the living room.

I had this set and my Mego figures would attempt the zip line but they didn't have enough weight behind them so usually only went about half way. Great toy and very sad that there isn't something this awesome in the stores today.

If I had this toy I would have so much fun placing the tower on the roof of my house and have Action Man swing down the rope from the tower to the end of my yard somewhere. This toy looks so cool!

Hey Dave great video I actually picked one up myself on eBay the US version some had the search lights like you said the set has so many pieces and I managed to get most of them except the snake people want loads of money for it. The extra long rope was great. Keep the great videos coming

When I was a Child i had this set.i played that this training tower is for paratroopers!

Try running an old candle along the zip-wire, to make it slipper.

Don't normally feel the big joes or action man were as good as the little ones, but once in a while. So anyways has anyone tested how something like this set would fare left outside with a U.V. clear on it?

Curious, having come to the U.K. From the US we had GI Joe, not Action Man. Does action man carry the same kind of reverence that 12" joes do for British toy collectors? 25 quid seems very reasonable for that, seems like that set in a box would command a higher price.
