Has the poor cat for 2 days and expects him to just settle down after spending a year in a cattery. She has to earn HIS trust, not the other way round. Goes straight for the easy option - medication. She should use catnip spray to attract him to use the scratching posts and also get him a cat tree. Cats like to be high up. She should also play with him with toys he can jump and catch (as per Jackson Galaxy). As for putting caps on his claws - UGH! If she thinks more of her furniture than the cat, she shouldn't have a cat. I have 10 cats (8 are rescues) and most of them use the scratching posts. My lot sometimes do claw the furniture but a sharp "No!" deters them. Furniture can be replaced and we eventually grow tired of it anyway but cats can never be replaced. Each one is unique and I consider all of them part of my family.

@@coockiep Cats are social. I have 10 (8 of them are rescues). One of my rescues was dumped as a 9 week old kitten in the snow. He was quickly accepted by the rest of my cats. 3 months later I was asked to foster an 8 month old kitten who had been starved, neglected and abused (owner surrender). And there is another alternative. Keep the cat's nails trimmed. They do grow fairly quickly, so this should be done every 10-14 days. I trim my cats' nails every 10 days on average. My youngest cat needs hers done more frequently than the older 2 cats do. Sometimes my older (11 and 14 year old) cats can skip a trimming session. They don't mind at all having it done, and I can trim each cat in under 2 minutes. They get a nice treat afterward. (Jan Griffiths).

We had a cat when I was a teen who developed distemper. Our vet was just up the street and knew I was interested in medicine. He treated the cat for free in return for help from me...one of my best memories. Cat survived. He had been very sweet but developed seizures (?) during which he would attack me...I have the scars on my firearms to prove it. He would sort of gargle first, froth and zoom attack. Definitely time to run for the hills. It wasn’t often, fortunately. One year he gargle routine and ran up the Christmas tree. We were yelling “no, no,, no!” The tree slowly, cartoon like, fell over, smashing ornaments. He was a bit nuts after his extended high fever.

I have a cat who is super affectionate, but man, he hates being washed and wiggles so much in the hold. :D Once I got him to the sink he accidently hooked his claw on my upper lip and slashed it open as easy as cutting through butter. Had the constant bleeding for two days until it eventualy sealed up with a strap. Now I have a barely visible scar.

That happened to me when I first got my cat Bob from the shelter. He needed a bath bc he'd been laying in his litterbox and was all grimy. But he also was polydactyl so had extra claws. Well he flailed and his claw caught my upper lip and hooked in. He was very particular about how he was picked up.

I have no idea how old this is but watch some Jackson Galaxy vids. He has a method for this kind of kitties, Catify to Satisfy. It worked for an S2 savanna cat. I hope it is S2. it is the second breeding away from its wild counterpart.

It’s called F2. Fundamental or something it’s stands for. Or foundation... maybe something else. But yea crossing domestic and wild animals result in F1, F2 etc animals

@@TJ-dy1cy It's foundation. I dealt with that with Bengal cats. (Jan Griffiths).
