A day that was set for the usual suspect sprinters was spoiled by Eritrean rider, Biniam Girmay. Today also saw a strategic change in the yellow jersey which can take some responsibility off of team UAE as they head into the high mountains tomorrow.

Because eritrea was under colony of Italy from 1890 to 1941 cycling became the biggest sport in Eritrea.another thing some people have been participated in 2015 but non of them have been wone stage.not only from Eritrea from whole Africa Bini became the first black African to win the stage.

Italy maintained some influence over Eritrean politics after 1948. Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, used to be known as "Little Rome", was one of the most famous destinations for both native Eritreans and Italian colonialists. The city still retains a lot of Italian architecture.

Do you believe in race karma? It was great to see Girmay win today after Philipsen kept crowding him and others into the rail at last year's Tour. Mads Pedersen respected Girmay's space today, yielding a safer sprint finish (except for Groenewegen getting squeezed); while van der Poel's flat impacted Philipsen.

I've got to give you some props for acknowledging the win and doing some basic research but you could have done so much more especially since it sounds like you have a production team in the background. Hope you'll research this some more and update us on what you've learnt in the coming episodes.

Why as Cav so far back and subsequently caught behind a crash - that should’ve been expected this early in the TDF when nerves are on edge?! Seems to me his tactics which are supposed to be “next level” are just as old as his legs! It’s embarrassing to get dropped on the very first climb of stage one and limp into the finish - needing an ENTIRE team to drag him along. Nice work keeping up on the revised 5k safely zone and a BIG thank you to George for finally shedding some TDF insight related to team tactics albeit late in the show, with my thumb cramping by fast-forwarding through all the boring ads!

I know Chris Froome was born in Kenya, lived in Africa until he was 22, and today lives in Africa. Am I the only one who knows this? I think Africa would be proud of Chris’s accomplishments. Or at least know he’s from Africa and won a few tours. I hope Lance and the crew not only mention this but also give Girmay his correct praise. Good for him. Good for the tour. Good for Africa. Per ChatGPT: The toy lion given to winners of the yellow jersey during the Tour de France is called "Le Lionceau," which translates to "The Lion Cub" in English. It's a symbol of the Tour's heritage and represents courage and strength, qualities associated with the riders who compete for the yellow jersey. The information about the toy lion called "Le Lionceau" given to winners of the yellow jersey during the Tour de France is sourced from various historical accounts and reports about the Tour de France tradition. It is a well-known aspect of the race's customs and has been referenced in media coverage and official Tour de France documentation.

Cav was unlucky to be in the wrong part of the split after the crash that also removed Philipsen from the fight for the stage. After Galibier's stage we'll have many stages for sprinters, but it looked to me that even on this stage Cav was too far back. Probably George can answer this question better, since he has done leadouts in the past: Does Astana really have what it takes to get Cav in a good position so he's able to at least contest the sprints with chances to win, comparing with Alpecin, for example? I'm a huge fan of the show and have been watching it daily for the past years, including JB squared.

I didn’t find a Leo anywhere. Where does that come from? 😂 I found Mufasa -The most prized emblem on the cycling planet occupies a special place in the hearts of the riders, with English speakers nicknaming the little lion king who accompanies each Yellow Jersey presentation and whom they collect with care "Mufasa" for those who earn the privilege.

Today's stage win brought to you by a bowl of onions. That's "bowl of onions." Head on over to the kitchen to grab your fresh bowl and get those tears flowing.

the audience needs to ask why Lance hardly ever crashed - was that because the teams was so protective would love to hear what George thinks? also why hasn't anyone asked why Lance never raced Paris Roubaix? seems he would have been in contention pre TDF GC

As of a few years ago, LA still owned a slice of that bike company that won't be named. Does he still have it?

Question: why was Pogacar upset with Tratnik at the end? It looked like Jonas was talking too. Any insight?

Le Tour is alway exciting but this year there for sure is a different vibe. Are the riders feeling “off” because it’s not going to end Paris?

Is roglic boras all out leader? The team was scattered all over that climb yesterday. Looked like they were all riding for theirselves?
