@@blaqjoker9105 most of the time it’s more horrifying to not see the whole transformation, jus the way seeing it effects others. When badass monster hunters, like Elsa Bloodstone, looks terrified by it and the shadow in the background shows the pain of the transformation your mind fills in the blanks and makes it as creepy or boring as you’d want it to be.

Werewolf By Night, Manthing, Dracula, The Frankenstein Monster, Howard the Duck, The Son of Satan, Satana the Devil's Daughter, Warlock, Wood-God, and Morbius were at the core of that short-lived, obscure, and truly weird and wonderful corner of the early to mid-1970s Marvel Comics Universe that people around my age (57) remember with great affection.

I went into this with lower expectations. I expected it to be entertaining and a "luckily I didn't waste an hour of my day to watch this" sort of show, but I didn't expect it to be as good as it was. I absolutely loved it. I love the original monster movies. 'The Mummy', 'Bride of Frankenstein', 'Creature From the Black Lagoon', etc etc etc. This felt like a newer version of one of those. It had an old time feel to it with some great looking distortion. It was both clean and dirty at the same time. And the shot of the shadows of Jack transforming was done really, really well. But I still think my favorite is when Jack transforms and grabs Verussa Bloodstone's arm through the cage and all you see is the close-ups of her wide open frightened eyes. That sort of camera work is what helped make this feel like one of the classics. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and hope they follow through. It's funny how Universal could mess up 'The Mummy' so badly while trying to make their monster-verse, but the MCU does some random show for fun and it feels much deeper and well made.

Its nice to see Marvel experimenting a bit and going outside their self imposed box. I thought WandaVision was a nice deviation in style for them as well. But this is definitely not the norm for them and that's a great thing. Even better that it is a good little film. I honestly wouldn't mind them taking a stab and a whole series like this. Something in the vain of old, classic horror films but with a modern budget. I think they could do something really cool with that if Disney let them off the chain. I think the creativity is there in Marvel, they just have to be allowed to use it.

Thank you Chris. I'm a big fan of your reviews and came across this one today. It instantly made me want to watch the film and I'm glad I did. Without you, it probably would have flown under my radar, and I would have missed out on the experience. Werewolf by Night was magnificent and I loved everything about it; the thoughtful use of color, the action sequences, the inside jokes, and of course the nods to the monster movies of old. You can tell that everyone who worked on this project really cared about what they were making. And I'm glad to see that Hollywood is starting to give creators a bit more freedom with their properties. I have struggled a lot with my physical and mental health over the last year because of a vehicle accident I was in. Movies like these transport me to another place and bring a smile to my face in spite of that struggle.

I think this is a good idea introduce all the howling commandos this way where it’s not long it’s to the point introduces the character. That way at the end of blade and they all show up you have an idea of who they are all for blade 2.

God I loved this special. I wish it was in theaters, I wish it was a full length feature. That close up shot of Verusa on a big screen! I mean come on.

Love your reviews. I really enjoy how you don’t go into troll, movie bashing territory. If you have criticisms you don’t dwell on it and say it’s ruined your life. It’s refreshing.

I was going to watch it regardless but I just was not particularly excited at all but that could be because of how little I actually knew about it and I just don't feel like the targeted audience for alot of the newer Marvel content which is ok. Hearing your thoughts really got me looking forward to watching this as part of a little date night, though.

Michael Giacchino said it wasn't easy to direct and compose. He was VERY unsure which music to use. He said he went to the editor a lot for his opinion, but that actually made it easier to get the right piece in on the fly.

Same here, I honestly wished this TV special was a lot longer than just 55 minutes, but for what we got I was heavily satisfied. I hope we can get to see more stuff like this from Marvel soon.

Interesting thing about those classic Universal monster films is that most of them are right around 60 minutes long.

Speaking of period pieces (in a sense), I'd love to see the FF set in the Cold War '60s (maybe as a series).

I'm sorry.... I know nothing of this character. His name is Jack Russell? Like the dog? And he's a werewolf? I love Marvel's naming systems.

I think marvel made this to test the waters in regards to going in a more dark and horror type direction with future projects. Glad to hear it holds up! Maybe blade will have a similar vibe.

I'm very excited for this because it's part of the Marvel universe that I was truly in love with. I've always gravitated towards monsters and such which image and dark horse really upped the ante. I think Marvel is putting its better foot forward in experimenting with stuff like this, especially since Deadpool 3 will be also rated r. I'm not forgiving them for phase four but definitely interested in what they can do with this. Since blade and other things will come about in a similar fashion
