Man, I moved back to Texas in 2010, and was super excited to see horned lizards again, only to find out that they were almost gone. I hope they come back in my lifetime.

My dad got bit by a copperhead this week. He’s alright, but I am so fascinated by snakes. I think the bite made me more fascinated by snakes to be honest. Thanks for everything you do!

In my country we have the tyrrhenian wall lizard, Moorish gecko and the euro leaf toed gecko along with the Mediterranean gecko. I think the leaf toed is my favourite. The brook salamander almost looks like camo with an orange line down the back. Almost makes up for the fact that we have not many snakes. I think 2 kinds and no venomous

Texas has been damned hot recently so it's not surprising the herping isn't as good as Georgia. I am in South Tejas and it is utterly miserable. You walk outside for 15-20 minutes and the heat/humidity just rips you of your energy. Good luck in West Texas Herping and don't forget to explore the nice lakes and ponds they have around central Tejas.

I herped a natrix maura in spain (Mallorca,cap de pera) this hollyday. I was very happy to find it,later filmed it slithering back to where it lived. Intresting to see that the mediterrainian gecko looks a bit difrent over there in America Then in mallorca : it was lighter in color and more trans lucent.

Would you agree that western diamond backs are generally the most temperamental of the rattle snakes? The most pissed off snake I ever seen in my life was a western diamond back at a rock quarry I worked at. You could hear him hissing and rattling over a running loader right next to him.

Why do the snakes hang out on along the road cuttings? Or is it more a matter of easy accessibly of herping road cuttings at night?
@adamevangelista191

Good question, I always thought cause the road was hot from constant driving and sun exposure, and would attract reptiles (since they are cold blooded) but that’s just a pure guess
