The pope does not have authority, and neither does anybody else, to change the liturgy as was done in 1955. This over-reach of authority, this infidelity to God, this contempt for Tradition, has multiplied and multiplied in its consequences. This includes the invention in 1968 of a new rite of consecration of bishops which arguably invalid, certainly deficient and evidently, for all to see, a disaster for the whole Church.
Sedevacantists such as Fr Anthony Cekada, RIP, argued that we have had no pope since Pius XII and that the consecration of bishops according to the 1968 rite are invalid. Even if Catholics do not agree with his conclusions, it is important to listen to his reasoning. He is absolutely right to point to the 1955 changes to Holy Week as the trigger of the growing crisis we see in the Church today.
