Honestly, I think the raw power expelled by transforming into SS3 would be enough to wake Buu up. It was far less controlled than SS2, and leaks ki as a feature. Its very likely just transforming into it, even for a split second, was too risky for Goku to consider. Especially since he barely had any training with it prior.

Akira Toriyama thought of SSJ3 some time after this part of the story. It was always the intent for their power to be equal after the Majin boost.

What if vegeta trained with supreme kai after the buu saga

I think going 3 at that point would just break vegeta mentally, in a way that wouldn't be repaired by the next arc. If anything, his development would regress from this if goku went all out then.

Was curious to what changes would happen if Goku went Super Saiyan 3, did not expect such subtle changes. Very nicely done. I like how you do your "What If?" Dragon Ball Z videos. You don't go out of character it seems, you don't go too far from the main story itself and the way you come up with an idea of what could happen sounds pretty accurate too. Very nicely done!

Carthu might wanna watch DBZ and DBS again, because peace, friendship, love, and trust wasn’t the thing that made Goku so strong In the Buu sage Vegeta said he used to think it was those attributes that pushes Goku to be so strong and found himself with loved ones and his power remaining the same Vegeta said it was Goku testing the limits of his abilities and pushing himself beyond those limits to become even stronger In DBS Whis told Vegeta if he learned energy control Vegeta wouldn’t be behind Goku as well as him needing to relax once in a while Vegeta pushes himself harder than Goku but his methods are an overkill. That’s the reason why Vegeta kept falling behind Goku and not these attributes Carthu mentioned here

Gohan might still get Ultimate. Maybe Supreme Kai will decide to have Gohan train with the Z-Sword and become stronger as a sort of reward for helping finish the Buu threat as well as thinking that Gohan earned the privilege to try and free the sword. Goku would probably visit and meddle like he does and the events play out as normal.

Do you remember the scene in DBS anime where Goku was sparing with future Trunks? Both went SSj2 and were equall. Then Goku went SSj3 and literally oneshoted Trunks. Thats how the fight will look between SSj3 Goku and SSj2 Majin Vegeta.

I’m happy you did this, though it wouldn’t have been as fun, you’re version of the story would’ve had great character development for Goku, Gohan, and especially vegeta, Goku would have a new goal of training the next generation of fighters which would make him a better family man than he already is and he would have a greater desire to train knowing threat Can appear regardless of his presence, Gohan would shed his arrogance way before he does in Super and would get back to training before the TOP, and Vegeta would get over his hatred of Goku sooner and be his own person

I’m imagining a vegeta who mastered yardratian ki manipulation techniques and has the ultimate form, I think it fits his character here well. And that ofc changes super a lot.

So now they're going to be doomed because there's no Majin Buu to help with Moro? 😔 Also, two things, Vegeta could have gone either way. he could have calmed down or he could have gone bonkers and tried to blow up the planet(like last time, who knows what that demon magic in him) or just fought Goku until Goku killed him, and Goku was trying to keep his time from being used up since he knew that if Majin Buu did get loose he'd have to fight. Isn't like Goku could have killed Vegeta in one punch as a Super Saiyan 3. Also, pretty sure that's not how Deborahs spit magic works, if it did, it would like turn his jaws and lips to Stone. You know, this may not make the Super arcs all that interesting - *except* for the Moro arc, where Buu is still sealed, and protected in the Kai realm. What would the galactic patrol do? Would they still get Goku and Vegeta? Would Moro take New Namek without interruption? Ofc the arc has to end to go through it all, but once it does, I'd be really interested in seeing what changes there'd be. And with no Buu for the ToP arc, would they immediately think of Frieza? Or would they draft someone else in first? Interesting to consider!

I feel like there would be changes here that could lead to future stories. The first is that Buu wouldn't be around to piss off Beerus, so there is a chance a fight might not even happen if there is no SSGod for him to fight. Also, I think Gohan's realization about his power could lead to him training himself to avoid his nature of getting drunk off his power. And I think that could lead into a fun story where maybe Gohan trains with Supreme Kai or something. Maybe still getting the Z Sword and maybe doing his own god training while Vegeta and Goku eventually start training with Beerus and Whis.

Dang, I didn't realize how old this video is, and i was going to say that you should still have had S. Kai take Gohan to train with the Z sword, because he saw the potential in him and wanted to reward him with special Kai training! And of course, Goku BEGS to go as well, so they spend a few weeks/months there training, aaaaaannndddd still break the sword, get the ultimate power for Gohan (offered to Goku, but he declines, doesn't want free power). And Gohan gains a new respect for continued training. Maybe even Goten gets ultimate upgrade! (and he could ACTUALLY be relevant to the story for once....)

I really want another part. Vegeta having that time to reflect would mean he probably has a lead on Goku sometimes with forms and stuff

Not harping on your video, I just have some thoughts on the series in general. SSJ3 was not thought of at that point, Vegeta sensed SSJ2 in the battle against Yakon, the series was supposed to end(again) at Vegeta's sacrifice. Goku's time runs out unconscious and Vegeta dead. After that they introduced a whole host of concepts, fusion, ssj3, Z sword, unlocking Gohan's potential(again) and all different forms of buu, all accepted as cannon today. Not to mention some very suspect story telling/dialog inside buu. But the worst offender is to end the series with a spirit bomb... Didn't work on Frieza, but it kills buu. No resolution, I know they wanted to keep it open for a sequel but Super isn't exactly a sequel either. Super takes the concepts and runs off into the Kelvin timeline so to speak. And we don't talk about GT.

Please make more parts to this it needs to be a series and gohan can get a stronger ultimate form and the such

Well outside of missing some big zenkais and Shin not shockingly thanking them by testing if they can pull the Z-Sword out... I think for Vegeta, possibly Gohan, and Trunks and Goten would possibly gain from this alteration. Since in story/Canon it has been confirmed that pure physical training isn't the best way to gain power. Vegeta realizing this technically sooner should possibly by Battle of The God's close the gap even further between him and Goku. I could see Vegeta also possibly after recouping his broken pride spar and train more frequently with Goku, the kids, and Gohan who now wants to be at least at decent shape if a new threat arises. Maybe Gohan who is supposed to create the book detailing Ki control and techniques would start after his fight in outsmarting Dabura. Him with Videl helping as a training/test case since he taught her a basic of Ki control and flight could further broaden while living a couples life. So even without Ultimate Gohan he would possibly be better by the time of Beerus showing and be a academic in both martial arts, refined Ki control, and strategy. Maybe have him bring Piccolo along as a different test case since Namekians are significantly different than humans. Goten and Trunks would in possible theory get significant benefits even if they don't learn fusion with both their fathers being more in the picture while training them. Goku is possibly the only one who would be slightly weaker in this case as he is focused on the next generation more so than doing it pretty much for himself. Though he could be also slightly stronger if he frequently in later years does more sparring with Vegeta and Gohan. That's my possible take anyways. I agree in most cases it wouldn't effect the initial meeting with Beerus, except it likely not be world threatening as Buu isn't there to anger him. It's possible the fight with Frieza will either be slightly harder or easier. That and if Vegeta in his new mindset fights the Earth might not need to be time reset so the revelation of Weis power won't likely show till the Goku Black Arc. Gohan in my mind would also not be dismantled by first form Frieza and Piccolo would actually be enough to take care of that one Frieza punching bag henchman.

I don't actually know if Goku would decide to revive himself tbh. I mean you bring up a good point, that Gohan would say "You're not the cause of all these bad guys trying to destroy the world" But even in the show, there's a moment when Goku is talking to Piccolo on top of the lookout, after his fight with Vegeta, and he says something along the lines of "I'm someone who shouldn't even be in this world, I can't be around to save the day forever, I wanted the boys to figure out how to win this fight" etc etc. He gave off the impression that he didn't really want to be back, that's why he didn't destroy fat buu when he had the chance. Plus I think Goku likes being dead. I mean its like unlimited training in a youthful body, he achieved SSj3 up there so I think he actually prefers being dead to a point. I know he ended up being revived in the show, but that was only because old kai basically forced his life on goku, and goku wanted to save Gohan from Buutanks. So he had to take the life, but secretly I think he wants to die and just be training all the time.

There are many videos being done or have been done about whether or not but shida had already reached Super Saiyan 2 as Majin Vegeta or prior to him becoming imagine. The problem with this is that it utterly negates why Vegeta decided to use Babadi to gain the power he needed to match Goku. There are three points that helped Vegeta determine that he would not fair well against Goku in a fight even after periods of training over 7 years: 1. The men at the Martial Arts Tournment revealed that they had acquired tremendous strength for their combat bracket. Hercule and others explained this. 2. Vegeta discovered the full truth of how they got that strength when they finally saw Babadi and Shin explained how Babadi does it. 3. Vegeta saw what Goku could do against Yarkon. He saw that Goku was not tired from SS transformation, he didn't lose anything after Yarkon ate his SS energy causing him to revert to base form and he saw Goku go back to SS and hold that form for even longer while Yarkon sucked on that light energy until he got overfilled and exploded. Vegeta fully understood that what advantage Goku had during the Cell fight had been perfected as Goku had already surpassed the SS threshold, but has now fully surpassed the SS wall and mastered it. Now what is the SS wall? Super Vegeta reached the wall and learned anything beyond it was a highly disadvantageous liability in battle because A. They all gained incredible strengh, but with it a?bulkier body that not been broken in training B. The additional mass substantially slowed them down and that affect, Cell explained why. C. They gained incredible power, but they couldn't figure out how to use that power to increase speed, while losing a great portion of energy transforming. These are the problems that make up the SS wall. So after Vegeta realizes Goku has surpassed that wall, if he actually has the SS2 transformation, then why bother playing out his plan to attract Babadi's attention to be possessed and ten gain the latent power he has in his body that he can't draw out? It tripped me out to see so many argue that this was so. Seth the Programmer really pushed this narrative and he got G101 and others on board. But I could never find anyone who could explain this. Now. Let's play Prosecution advocate. Suppose Vegeta does have SS2? Why would he need Babadi? I can accept Vegeta having SS2, yet being weaker or just at Gohan's level. Babadi was an insurance card. Vegeta was sure that the power he had before resisting his bloodlust and mentsl stay would cause the significant gap between he and Goku's power would disappear. So what happened is that the additional power drawn out of Vegeta made him quite stronger than Gohan's form. And it was a significant increase as pitting Vegeta against Gohan or Cell would edge out a wholesome victory for he or Goku. Vegeta admits this to Goku prior to their fight saying, "Well... at least your stronger than your son was..." This is the only way I can accept Vegeta having reached SS2. But he still wasn't stronger than Goku in this scenario so he would need Babadi.
