The Courier has to be one of the most influential figures in the world of Fallout, but what would happen if this earthbound god died in the Goodsprings cemetery?

@@steadyjumper3547 Would that be the “What if House received the Platinum Chip on time?” My idea is a little different, I suppose, putting House’s reawakening shortly before the First Battle of Hoover Dam, or even before The Legion is started. However, seeing how House would react to President Tandi would be interesting.

The Legion would win because they already have a presence before the Courier began their journey, Cottonwood Cove is their primary base on the west side of the Colorado River, Nipton burned as the Courier arrived, Camp Forlorn Hope is about to collapse with the Legion at the town right next to it, NCR are spread thin dealing with the Legion, Khans, Fiends, and many other problems, and the Legion were prepared for round two. The Legion is the strongest faction, and only because of the Courier's intervention does the Mojave survive the Legion onslaught. Merry Christmas Everyone! And to our Enclave Santa!

This is awesome set of gifts you have out for us, Omega! What if Edward Sallow left the Followers of the Apocalypse for being too stiffling and naive for his taste before year 2246 to join the NCR military in Boneyard (became NCR state in 2241) and climbed up the ranks to become a general instead of Lee Oliver (not sure how old Lee is, maybe close to Edward's age. Caesar was 55 years old during FNV) before being tasked with annexing the Mojave?

There would be an interesting twist: the army he faces would not be the Legion but the Rangers. It is established the Desert Rangers had a presence in the Mojave and were effectively what kept the region pacified before the Legion severely depleted their numbers. Without this, the Desert Rangers remain a powerful force and one that would check the NCR's advance perhaps even worse than the Legion due to their superior equipment and understanding of how the NCR functions.

Of course the Legion would win. They already have presence everywhere in the Mojave either officially or with alliances. They also learned from their nistake at the first battle of hoover dam and sure won't repeat them again. Even without that, the NCR is spread thin anyways and all the bureaucracy and corruption is eating it alive, making a war effort much more difficult. In the NCR playthrough you have to do so much stuff like helping out ranger stations while in a Legion playthrough everything has already been done for you and you just have to take the last step.

Large scale, it's obvious that the Legion wins without the courier intervention but definitely would not see the same success further in the NCR homeland. the legion would probably win at hoover dam but then Caesar would die to cancer and Lanius would take over. whoever takes over after him better do it fast because the harm Lanius will cause to the legion isn't easy to undo. the legate would most likely outright drive the legion into the ground or set them on a path to destruction.

What about "What if Benny won in Fallout NV?" [WARNING! MASSIVE WALL OF TEXT INCOMING IN REPLIES] Instead of fleeing the brute force attempt (featured in the Legion wins video) on his life to The Fort, the mercs are killed and Benny hires a shitload of mercs to siege the Lucky 38 and kill Mr. House. They do so, just barely, had the Securitrons been upgraded they would have undoubtedly been wiped out. Or alternatively, he enlists the help of the Silver Rush (or at least buys weapons from them for his mercs), forming an informal arrangement of them being his go to merc choice and/or weapons dealers going forward into his rule of New Vegas. Benny then integrates Yes Man into the Lucky 38 (as his original plan with reprogramming the Securitron was) and going through the files there is able to confirm the existence and function of the weather station at The Fort. As such, he hires a small group of merc specialising in covert inflitration (the same group hired by House in the what if House wins video) to sneak into The Fort to activate the Securitrons there. The mission goes the exact same way as it did in the House video, including the surviving mercenary being hired for the operation at the Substation. The only difference being that Benny does not pay as well as House does, meaning that this mercenary is not going to be able to retire just off of this, that would take one more job. That job being to infiltrate the Omertas and assassinate their leadership as well as destroying the shipment of weapons (very similarly to how to Courier does so in the actual game). After this the Mojave's most competent merc is finally able to retire. After this immediate threat is dealt with, Benny is also able to formalise Swank's promotion to Head of the Chairmen so that he can move his focus away from micromanaging a single Casino and start to think bigger. Benny then proceeds to use similar tactics to what Mr House did in his video, as he has access to basically the same resources and despite being a fair bit dumber he does have access to Mr House's vast database, House's well laid out plans for after Benny was killed and the veritable super computer that is Yes Man hooked up to the Lucky 38's mainframe. The main difference being that Benny is a lot less apt in his negotiations with the NCR and tends to move towards appeasing them instead of opposing them , since he figures that their interest greatly align for the time being and he is not the grand idealist that House was. He is not trying to create an completely independent Utopia, only maintain an autonomous economic powerhouse, which the NCR's long term presence in the region will greatly bolster. As such, Benny offers Securitron aid to restore Helios One to full functionality and completely wipe out the Fiends. This help is greatly appreciated and quickly blossoms into a long term arrangement of the NCR hiring Securitrion aid from Benny to deal with pretty much anything that they don't want to get their own troops killed over (including the retaking of Nipton and the NCRCF), which frees up troops to reinforce relatively isolated ranger camps like Charlie, Guardian and most importantly of all Camp Forlorn Hope. With a large portion of the Securitrons essentially being converted into a mercenary company, security on the strip is looking a bit lighter than it ought to. Benny strikes a deal/ultimatum with the Silver Rush to transition them into the New Vegas Security Company (NVSC). The NVSC keeps law and order in Freeside, offers additional numbers bodies to security on the Strip and act as private enforcers for Benny on the side. They ARE NOT a mercenary company for hire by anyone, they are essentially a police force for Vegas and are only occasionally lended out for essential missions like guarding particularly valuable arms shipments/caravans throughout the area and escorting high ranking NCR officials between Vegas, Camp Golf and the Hoover Dam. The Gun Runners are also strongarmed into this new entity, creating not only a completely independent, self sustaining armed force for Vegas, but also a complete monopoly on the sale and manufacturing of high end weapons in the area.
@WreveAU
@WreveAU Жыл бұрын
Not gonna go into all the different tangents for all the different sub-factions like the Khans or Goodsprings, at this point just assume that anyone not mentioned here gets the outcome they would in an optimal NCR ending. Here are the highlights: The NVSC, NCR and Securitrons team up for an assault on the Hidden Valley bunker after Benny combs through House's logs to find a bunch of Securitrons going missing in that area (as House mentions in game) and confirms this intel in a similar way to how House did in his video in this series. The NVSC are then able to manufacture their own power armour based off of Brotherhood repair schematics and study of the Brotherhood armour (using the manufacturing facilities available at the Gun Runners combined with looted Brotherhood tech from the bunker). Or alternatively the Brotherhood activate the bunker's self destruct during the assault (that is why the function exists after all). But I personally consider this less likely just based off of the layout of the latter stage of the bunker allowing offensive forces to cut off the Elder and the Head Paladin from getting to the self destruct terminal with their cards and the terminal controlling the turrets being right at the start of the bunker in Ramos' office, allowing for an incredibly quick sweep through the main living areas of the bunker (which if you have turned those turrets against the Brotherhood in game before you will know that this is a pretty reasonable assumption, those things absolutely rinse even the Paladins before they even get to shoot back), it is also a given imo that this attack would take place at night to catch the majority of the Brotherhood asleep for an even quicker takeover. The monorail doesn't really matter here tbh, it can be blown up or not and in reality not much will change long term with the Fiends being completely eradicated for months now and constant NVSC patrols between McCarran, Gun Runners and the Crimson Caravan, it just makes the journey to the Strip a bit more of a walk. You could make it so that Securitron presence at McCarran following patrol information leaking results in Curtis getting caught anywhere from weeks or minutes before the monorail was set to go boom. Or you could have him get away with it. For the sake of this canon I'm gonna say that Curtis blows up the monorail but is caught in the act and killed by Securitrons after screaming some shit in Latin just to make as explicit as possible that he's a Legion spy in what he knew were his final moments, or maybe he gets captured and kills himself like Silus was supposed to upon capture. This way the foot traffic route from McCarran, past Gun Runners and through Freeside becomes even more heavily guarded by nature of a shitton of NCR Troopers always walking through there and maybe down the line Freeside properly expands all the way out to Westside and North Vegas Square. Negotiations with the Boomers go the exact same as in the House video, no real need to change that.
@WreveAU
@WreveAU Жыл бұрын
Around this time is when Caesar finally bites the bullet. From here you could have the President visiting go the exact same as with the House video with the at this point undoubtedly NCR trained NVSC donning raider armour and missing on purpose as it was proposed better mercs would have done in the House video. Or you could have Kimball never visit at all, instead Benny blows his load at The Fort early with the news of Caesar's death, I've actually always wondered why this possibility was never even mentioned in game. I understand why House doesn't want to do it as he wants those Securitrons for the long term to make sure he can push out the NCR after the Second Battle of Hoover Dam but I see no reason why this shouldn't have been an option or at least something brought up in the Yes Man path as an option for massively weakening the Legion right before the battle. For this story I'm gonna choose this new option as I think it suits Benny's character to try something so bold and I'm gonna assume both that it goes well and that the NCR are clued in on this plan. No longer will the NCR sit around like losers waiting for the Legion to come to them, the Legion are at their weakest with the death of their leader and with the additional support of the Securitrons and the NVSC in the area the NCR are the strongest they have ever been in the Mojave region. With the tactical input of Hanlon a plan is devised for the NCR to strike at the Fort from two angles. After nightfall, the NCR and the NVSC attack The Fort from the Dam side with moderate Securitron support whilst the Weather Station Securitrons flood out from right at the heart of The Fort, which is being bombarded with artillery fire by the Boomers. With the weakened state of the Legion, the superior firepower of the NCR and newly power armour donned NVSC, the surprise attack from multiple fronts and the artillery fire combined allied losses are relatively minimal. Lanius is either killed by the initial volley of artillery focussed on Caesar's tent or has a final stand against the Securitrons there similar to his death in the House video. At the same time as this a separate detachment of NVSC combine forces with the forces present at Forlorn Hope to retake Nelson and even Cottonwood Cove in the dead of night, however with much more considerable losses than the army sacking The Fort. As for arrangements for Vegas' autonomy, due to Benny having been cooperating with the NCR directly this whole time instead of hiding from them or directly defying them as House or the player respectively tend to do, those terms had already been established long ago: Vegas and surrounds would remain economically autonomous and continue to be allowed their own police force in the form of the NVSC (which at this point has also assimilated The Kings into its ranks after The King had been mysteriously murdered and Pacer ODed as well as having been steadily recruiting the whole time) in exchange for allowing NCR citizens free entry, all spending on the Strip being taxable by the NCR and of course arranging an official extradition treaty with the NCR (the NCR Embassy also remains as is). After the battle, a massive amount of NCR citizen relocate to Vegas, bringing their money with them. This is the straw that broke the camel's back. Between funding the war effort against the legion, monorail repair costs and paying Benny to prop up their military in the area the NCR have been minting new money on overdrive. Without the immediate thought of war in the heads of the public, everyone realises all at once just how worthless the NCR dollar has become. The NCR dollar has fallen to the fate that it was always going to meet: rampant inflation from a short sighted and corrupt government. The NCR had a decent amount of caps in reserve, but not enough to run a country. You know who has a shitload of caps in reserve and control of the Sunset Sarsaparilla bottling plant though? That's right, Benny. At this point the NCR are taking loans from Benny to stay on their feet, under the especially exploitative condition that whilst those loans remain outstanding, spending on the Strip is not taxable by the NCR. It's far from ideal for the NCR but they are desperate so they have little choice, Kimball himself is just grateful that someone like Benny is even around to bail them out like this.
@WreveAU
@WreveAU Жыл бұрын
Eventually the NCR get their new bottlecap based economy in check, but the loans from Benny are not paid off fully for decades, even further bolstering Vegas' status as the greatest and sole economic superpower in the wasteland. The Legion, without any remaining leadership, devolve back into individual tribes based on geographic location and loyalties to their individual commanders. Even these don't last however. With no tribes in the East remaining to conquer and assimilate and the vast majority of the Legion's slave population being either killed or liberated at and following the Second Battle of Hoover Dam, the scattered raider tribes that were once the Legion of the Mighty Caesar had a roughly 90% male population. This combined with their abhorrent treatment of those women that did remain resulted in the vast majority of them simply fleeing under the cover of darkness with any young children they may have already bore. The tribes are no longer the vast army they were with constant night patrols and barbed wire fences and as such they cannot stop most of the women from fleeing, and even those who are caught are typically executed. The remnant tribes of the Legion die out completely within 3 generations, leaving the NCR near uncontested in their march east. Benny's reign over Vegas and subsequently over the economy of the entire NCR lasts until his death by natural causes in 2338. He passed on his empire to his son Anthony, who he had been nurturing for this role from birth. Anthony went on to become much like Robert House: an idealist who sought above all the independence and longevity of New Vegas, for he knew just how important it was for all of humankind that the last city standing city of the old world remain so. But instead of pushing the NCR away like House, he realised (like his father) that the NCR and Vegas could only benefit from each other's continued thriving. As such Vegas and the NCR remained tightly allied for decades to come....
