As someone that does not get joy or entertainment from other peoples down fall, I would assume as intelligent as Gonzalo is, he would know that moving to a different country, speaking negatively about it and posting it online for the world to see is not a smart idea. This would probably fly in the USA, but not in other countries. We see how people that speak negatively/critically about Putin, and other world leaders outside the US end up either imprisoned, poisoned to death, etc...

@Clyde_Frog The war in Ukraine (whatever your position is about it) is a tragedy for all those people who have died or lost their homes and livelihoods. Gonzalo Lira was making over $100k a year from Patreon and streams combined. He was spreading lies and Russian propaganda and claiming that everything he was saying was true just because he was in Ukraine. In short, he was profiting from the war. The Government. The people of Ukraine passed a law prohibiting the spread of Russian propaganda within Ukraine. He was free to leave, but if he stayed in Ukraine, the moment he decided to stay, he would forfeit his right to spread propaganda because that was the law of the land. YOU DON'T GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY AND BREAK THEIR LAWS JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE THEM. That is stupid! It is beyond me that you don't understand that a Democracy doesn't mean that you are free to do whatever you want. It means people vote for the laws that everybody has to follow in order to live harmoniously. We are celebrating the fact that Gonzalo has finally been stopped from profiting from the tragedy and misfortune of the Ukrainian people. He is not a victim. He is a parasite. I hope I made my point clear and thank you for watching and for your comment.

Thanks for the update, my friend. I think Gonzalo should actually consider himself lucky - I doubt very much he would be treated with the same leniency if he were a Ukrainian citizen accused of the same crimes. The prosecutors working on his case probably regard him as just another clueless foreigner who doesn't speak the local language and gets into trouble more out of ignorance than of malicious intent. So they treat him like the sort of idiot who's only half-aware of what he's doing, and is therefore only partly to blame for the crime he committed.

You are welcome, my friend. With all honesty, I've noticed that prisoners gain a reputation behind bars for the crimes they have committed. For example, in America, when a child abuser/killer enter prison, the inmates target them and assault them when they have a chance. This is because criminals who commit crimes against children are particularly hated behind bars. So, by the same logic, I assume a Ukrainian traitor or Russian propagandist must have some type of reputation too. I am curious if this is the case with Gonzalo? Thank you for your comments, my friend!😇

Extradition is only done when a country has charged a person in another with a crime in the country seeking extradition. EG, Lira committed fraud in the USA and fled to Ukraine to evade prosecution and arrest. Lira's lawyers can't seek extradition TO the USA. A prosecutor in the USA is the only 1 able to seek extradition. Your theory makes 0 sense.
@factshunter187
@factshunter187 5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I never meant to pretend to know everything, and that's why I use the phrase "take with a grain of salt". With that said, I would recommend that you do the same as your statements make it sound as if you have full knowledge of the subject of "extradition". In my case, I try to do as much research as I can before posting stuff online. For example, in this case, I posted the following question on Google: can a person arrested overseas be extradited? And the answer is the following: A person who commits a serious crime overseas has a high chance of being extradited. Extradition is the process of one country or state giving up a suspected criminal to another. It is regulated by treaties. When digging deeper, I found that one can request the extradition of a jailed person by making a request to the State Department. This is because of what you said in your comment. "A prosecutor in the USA is the only 1 able to seek extradition." So, I'm gonna take responsibility and clarify my initial statement from my video by stating the following: Yes, Gonzalo Lira can be extradited to the U.S. but the process can't be done by Gonzalo's lawyers alone. His lawyers have to make a request to the State Department. But if the Lawyers don't start the request, the State Department will never get the ball rolling. This boils down to my initial statement, "Gonzalo's lawyers can request an extradition". Well, I hope that with this reply, my theory makes more sense to you. I'm sorry if you didn't get it the first time, but you've shown some interest in law! So I will encourage you to dedicate yourself to getting your full Law Degree in real life and not just making snarky comments on KZfaq. Cheers!😁

@@factshunter187 Ukraine does not have an extradition treaty with the US. Gonzalo would have been extradited to the US to stand trial on fraud charges a long time ago. He may also be guilty of criminal activity in Ukraine.
@factshunter187
@factshunter187 5 ай бұрын
@@marlineemmal6458 It's good to have these types of conversations because I'm learning as we go along. For your comment I googled the next question: can a person arrested overseas be extradited even if there is no extradition treaty? And this is the answer: What happens if there is no extradition treaty? As a rule, extradition is highly likely when both countries involved have an established extradition treaty. When the two countries involved lack a formal treaty, but have existing diplomatic relations, extradition is entirely possible, but with reduced likelihood. So, yes, America and Ukraine don't have an extradition treaty. But extradition is still possible, but with reduced likelihood. And to be honest, I don't want Gonzalo extridated or deported. I would like for him to stay in Ukrainian prison for the entire eight years. It would be even better if he was convicted of even more severe crimes, so they can give him an even longer sentence. But you know, one can only dream and wish. It is already a pleasant holiday season for me to know that he is in a cold, prison cell. Marry Christmas @marlineemmal6458 and thank you for your comment. There is no evidence that Gonzalo Lira was subjected to torture. In addition, in Ukraine there is no criminal liability for criticizing the president. The American blogger was arrested on May 1, 2023 in Kharkiv for violating Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (justifying Russian aggression against Ukraine). In a commentary for the Ukrainian publication NV.ua, representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that the actions of Ukrainian law enforcement officers to arrest the pro-Russian blogger Gonzalo Lira occurred exclusively in accordance with the law. In particular, Gonzalo Lira argued that Ukraine seems to be shelling its own territory, and that the country is led by a neo-Nazi regime. The SBU documented Lira's activities and handed the blogger a suspicion. In May 2023, the court chose a measure of restraint for him in the form of detention with the possibility of bail. He was initially released under house arrest after posting bail, but in July Lira was arrested again while trying to cross the border into Hungary on a motorcycle. Lira is in a pre-trial detention center in Kharkiv. Court hearings in his case are scheduled for December 12 and 21, 2023. It should also be noted that Gonzalo Lira denied the facts of the massacre of civilians in Bucha and other Ukrainian cities, disclosed the location of Western journalists and Ukrainian military personnel, and also disseminated their personal information. In addition, Lira defended Putin's motives, arguing that the Russians allegedly take special care to avoid destroying civilian infrastructure or harming civilians. On his social media accounts, the blogger spread a number of previously debunked conspiracy theories, including Russia's claim that there are American laboratories in Ukraine for the production of biological weapons. The Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications, in its article “What’s wrong with the pro-Russian blogger Gonzalo Lira, for whom Carlson and Musk stood up”, spoke in detail about Gonzalo Lira’s months-long anti-Ukrainian activities. Detector Media previously wrote about other ways Russia uses the opinion of foreigners in the media field.

The statements in the OP, if true, are more corroboration of the point that Gonzo is a cult leader and his followers are, by and large, brainwashed cultists. I accept that *some* of them are just regular people who have been conned, and not cultists. But for a lot of them, that isn't so, and it goes way deeper than that. For them, Gonzo is a Jim Jones-type of figure, and they would love for him to make a Jonestown-esque community for them, where they can worship him with no interference from the outside world, and no one there would ever be allowed to question or criticize him in any way. And of course, that would also be an easy way for Lira to coerce the women who fall for that into sleeping with him, solely on the basis that he would control all aspects of their lives, including their access to food, water, and shelter. Hopefully no woman would be that dumb though, and to their credit, all of Lira's cultists are men, and *none* of them are women, as far as I know.

He could have just paid someone to adapt the movie script into a small novel and bham, easy money, but noooo, he had to be a bastard and rip off the people that trusted him. Why? what's wrong with this guy? Why be an asshole to the people that like him?🤔

@@factshunter187 He had a video where he read like part 1 of that none existence book scam after the first sentence I turned of the video fell sleepy sounded so boring yet he has the nerve to criticize the current movies and storytelling although the current movies in Hollywood they suck but at least its full movie unlike his none existence scam.

But to be honest, I wouldn't mind being called Gonzalo's Christmas Krampus this year. Because that fool for sure is getting no visits from Santa this year! Ho, Ho, Ho! Rot in jail Gonzalo Lira! 🎄🎅😇

The man is an entertainer. I find his videos very entertaining. What ever happened to freedom of speech. He is not a young man. Let the coach go.

@cliffnolan8741 You are right, Gonzalo Lira is an entertainer, that's why I call him The Clown of Karkhiv. Hey, maybe if he wore face paint he could have been forgiven, too bad the people in Ukraine didn't get his jokes! Oh well, it sucks to be him!🙃

If it was meant to be "funny" he should have done it in another country, not one at war. In Russia, much worse things happen to people who express an "against" voice. Like Russian artist Alexandra Skochilenko.

Rightly so, Ukraine has important things to do because of Russia's crimes. Or it could be that the stories are true that he now works for the SBU, and his sentencing is something that is going to be "postponed" over and over again until they really know what they are going to do with him. Thanks again for the video!
