WELCOME BACK TO "Bad Movies" today we are gonna be looking at "The Haunted Mansion"!! "The Haunted Mansion" is a 2003 movie based on the classic rides at the Disney Parks. This movie was critically panned by fans and critics alike. Coming out right after the SMASH HIT "Pirates of the Caribbean" and starring Hollywood's favorite comedian (at the time) Eddie Murphy this movie was destined to be a BLOCKBUSTER sooo what went wrong...TODAY we take a look at The Haunted Mansion and try to see if it is still bad or has the test of time helped it gain some nostalgia points.

The 2023 movie gave us a better excuse why the private Cemetery is huge, because it was from all the years that lost souls gets trapped by the curse of the Hat Box Ghost. In the Eddie Murphy Film we weren't given any clear explanation of how Ramsley caused the curse just by spiking Elizabeth Henshaw's wine glass goblet resulting in her death.

I know very well it is "Disney Magic" and Ramsley is evil but it was just technical questions you know.😾🖖🤜🤛😵 Your lucky that this is not a kid on these replies or otherwise this would be more than just a pouting face. Fun Fact: There were some deleted scenes that would've fleshed out Ramsley's backstory and explained why he's so obsessed with preventing Edward from making any more "mistakes" had they had not been cut. They would've revealed that Ramsley once served another wealthy family until the family's son was caught for a crime he committed. But Ramsley, out of loyalty to the son's father, bailed him out and took the fall for him. Prior to his intended execution, Ramsley was saved by Edward Gracey's father who gave him a job as the Gracey Family butler.

@@kingnusmi Time constraints, budget, scheduling conflicts, script changes, delays, rewrites. There are a lot of reasons for things to get cut from movies, shows or video games. Had they had kept this in, it probably would've expanded upon the curse a little a better. Just to show that it's not just Edward's sorrow and grief that's keeping everybody from moving on and keeping Elizabeth's spirit in the form of a "ghost ball", but it's because someone has committed a great sin against the Gracey Family. In this case it's Ramsley trying to cover up his crime thanks to his misguided attempt in preventing Edward from making a "mistake". Thus, the curse will only break until his crime is exposed otherwise they be doomed to live an eternity in limbo. Ramsley knows this and fears facing execution again. Now he will do whatever he can to cover it up even if it means dooming everyone, Edward and himself included, to eternal purgatory for his sake and Edward's. He even tried to recreate Elizabeth's death by killing Sara to keep the curse going. Sorry for the long read. Just wanted to offer some insight.

I'm assuming that as the master of the house, it was his death and sorrow that caused the curse, so hope is that. If he can make his master happy that his happiness will lift the curse, even at the expense of another person's life.

I remember liking this movie when I watched it as a kid. In hindsight, the villain loses in a pretty lame way. A Disney movie that I grew to like was Holes. Don't know if you take suggestions but a video on that would be cool.

I like "The Muppets: the Haunted Mansion" best because the running story of the movie is a lot more in line with how the "Grim Grinning Ghosts" Song went, than the other movie versions of "The Haunted Mansion".

The two things that confuses me completely about The 2003 Haunted Mansion is: How come the only ghosts the whole family saw at the entry and dinning room of the Mansion itself was Mister Gracey, Ramsley, and Emma, why did it take a good half of the movie for Jim to encounter the other ghosts, and why did it take Sarah even longer to see the other ghosts? How are the other ghosts much weaker than Gracy and in turn how is Ramsley more powerful than Gracey?

I just realized something: if Gracey is telling his story as the story of his grandfather, then how is Sara supposed to be believe it's true. If his grandfather died after his lover died, this would indicate that he never remarried or had children, meaning he couldn't be his grandfather. He never mentions him and Elizabeth having children, or if Elizabeth was his grandmother, just a lover of his.

I have been on The Haunted Mansion Ride in 2014, but it was the "The Nightmare Before Christmas" trussed-up version of the "Tour"; It was very close to Halloween when I went to Disney Land that year, That was my first time experience, but I certainly hope it will not be my last.

I like this movie just because of the Nostalgia in the video game with that weird Ichabod looking dude, but I’m gonna have to go with the remake. The new one is just so much better. Also, I prefer Jamie Lee Curtis from Jennifer Tilly as Madame Leota. Better performance, and they actually show her backstory, which is pretty sick.

There are a lot of holes in the smaller bits of the storyline I admit; So, I guess this is just one of the reasons "Rotten Tomatoes" didn't like it very much, but I still like it.

The Singing Busts in the E M HM movie are funny but they really are a little annoying; but oddly in the Muppet version, they are not so bad, you barely get to meet them or hardly at all in the other 2023 movie version.

I wanna fight whoever called this movie bad. this movie is objectively good. it's got creepy elements, funny, the acting is pretty good and the whole experience of watching this movie is fun i love this movie and i think it holds up better now than the new one will in a couple years.

It was "Gypsy" which is often associated with someone who is a con artist or a swindler that steals, but it's actually a race of humans. If you've ever heard the term "getting jipped" it's a reference to that word, which is not a great thing to say anymore

17:20 They handle this so tactfully in this movie. You know if this scene was written now it would be some long speech about how the cishet white patriarchy didn't accept their love and she was driven to suicide by some guy wearing a red hat or something.
