there are specifically lines on the road to guide u tho, so many intersections are like that and there's clearly two lanes. The guy driving probably was following flow of traffic which caused him to nearly go there, but at least he has common sense lmao.

Seriously! I had to commute through a substantial rainstorm a few days ago (worthy of about mid-speed wipers), and I just could not believe how many people didn't have their lights on. It was to the point where I literally couldn't see the second or third car in front of me because without the taillights they were completely obscured by their own rooster-trails of water.

Thank you! Obviously you shouldn't pass with such limited visibility, but no lights during inclement weather is BAD. Most states it's ticketable. Worst is people who think their DTRL are good enough, but DTRL doesn't activate tail lights.

7:24 Jeep driver an idiot, but so is the cammer if they weren't getting off at that next exit. Didn't look like anyone was on their left (nobody passed when they slowed down). Regardless...speeding up from 75 to 81 MPH while cars are merging onto a highway in front of you is not the smartest move. Unless someone is merging at 45 MPH, I normally let off the gas and let them merge. Sure, you'll slow down 5-10 MPH, but you're also in the right lane so you should expect that...

Exactly! It's just as much of your responsibility to yield to traffic when entering a freeway as it is for the other people already on the freeway to either slow down or move over for oncoming traffic.

People do this all the time in philly. Sometimes I'll do what the jeep did on purpose to let the people in front of me merge safely. Explicitly when the person charging up on us is closing the gap between traffic going a reasonable rate for the right lane. Our whole on ramp is matching the speed of the reasonable drivers and if there's someone aggressively closing that gap and I can do so safely I will take the right lane as early as possible. Of course I see them getting mad in my rearview but they're absolutely just stupid

Was looking for this comment. The only defense the cammer would have is somebody following closely behind/next to him in the middle lane, preventing them from merging. But slowing down a tad would have been smart too I guess.

My dad worked at the building that accident occured at 9:04! Supposedly the woman behind the wheel had a medical emergency (stroke I believe) and lost control of the car. She would have plowed right into my dad's car had he already not been out on his route for the day.

7:18 A.Lucas. It's not legally required, but it is basic common sense and courtesy to move over a lane, if you're easily able, to allow the people merging on to have an easier time. Why did you stay where you were? That highway was utterly empty, easily could have avoided the whole thing by moving over a lane for 8 seconds. While you're not technically, legally at fault, this is defensive driving 101. It doesn't matter who was right when you crash at 80mph and roll your car, putting you in a wheelchair for 4 years if it was avoidable.

If you keep moving lanes for merging traffic, that means they are awarded with laziness and don't know how to merge properly. As jeep shows, he does not know how to merge. If a time comes where one cannot change lanes, jeep will most likely blindly move lanes and endanger everyone again because he never learnt how to merge. I'd be like, I'm not legally required, you figure it out. It really isn't hard for oncoming traffic to slow down instead and merge behind you.

@@DaBombDrew Just because you are not moving lanes for oncoming traffic doesn't mean it's unsafe. That's like saying you will give way from car to the right because you don't want to get in an accident. Both will be fine if you just follow the basic rules. The laws are made the way they are because it's the safest way to do it. P.S. I still sometimes move lanes for trucks because they are quite large. Cars on the other hand are so small compared to trucks they really shouldn't be worrying about merging.

There’s a concept in law called “the last clear chance doctrine” which states that if you had a clear opportunity to avoid an accident, and you didn’t take it, you may be held liable for the damages. Regardless of who had the right-of-way.

@@francissanto12 A friend of mine found this out. He saw a car running a red light and figured since his light was green he wouldnt be found at fault. Insurance companies said they were both responsible for their own damage's and my friends insurance company dropped him.

@@francissanto12 Even in driver's handbooks it never says "green means you're cleared to cross" they always say "if the intersection is clear, you may proceed." Clearly the intersection was not cleared so I'm hoping the cop gave the BMW the ticket.

Edit: After rewatching it...the driver seemed to be throwing his hands up at the previous red light runner and probably was focused on their car while he gunned it...straight into another red light runner LOL.

That is the problem, since it is an external video (another cammer) it looked intentional and I don't think people really understand what that means. Hurling 5000 pounds at another vehicle on purpose is bad...really bad, and trying to say oh, I didn't mean to hit that vehicle. The problem is you just can't say you didn't see those cars running the red in broad daylight, there is no excuse for that. Or, it gets treated like a a simple red light runner side collision with the runners at fault. Maybe I just don't trust our legal system.

There are accidents that demand you take a year off from driving, that had to be one. That wasn't a distracted drift, that was intentionally turning into the path of a rather obvious vehicle. It was either intentional or that driver is not ready to drive. You just can't excuse that. And yes, the cammer was not at all pleased, probably had choice words for the kid, and the owner of the car.

@@mikehall3976 Tesla is known to not only massively over-charge for parts and labor. They don't even sell spare parts to independent mechanics. Keeping service and repairs totally in-house is a big part of their business model and they even go as far as to disable fast charging on cars that have had major repairs not made by them.

It’s also a flaw of the intersection. The median is in a confusing place where the turn is. You can see the cam driver almost make the same error.

That was premeditated assault for what amounts to a moving violation (a ticket) by the other vehicles. I am amazed how far people take the "right of way" I want to write it on my tombstone. If he stayed in his lane like he was supposed to, the cammer would be in front of all the cars just before the solid line ended if you look back. I doubt the cammer sped up just to block off the traffic, that would be stupid of him

@@philtucker1224 There's only speed limits on exit/entrance ramps when they curve around in a way that would be dangerous at higher speeds. If you're merging on to the highway you're expected to be going the posted highway speed by the time you enter the lanes of the highway. Most places don't have an speed limit of 80 mph so this person was aggressively speeding at merging traffic, totally their own fault.

I've been watching a lot of your posts lately and I appreciate your approach. Instead of showing a lot of gruesome accidents, you show everyday driving mishaps and almost mishaps that show problems around areas like merging onto a primary road, inattentive driving and irrational and unexpected driving behavior. The commentary is very helpful in understanding what happened. The #1 lesson: Get a webcam.

If there's no one else around, I may do a slow roll. If anybody is remotely close, I come to a full stop. Of course, I also know that when two vehicles get to the four way stop at the same time, the one on the right has the right of way.

I'm the uploader and I swear that half the dash camera videos that I've saved in the 12+ months since purchasing one have been at that turn. Thankfully it's typically easy enough to watch out for and avoid these situations if one is a halfway decent defensive driver, but it's puzzling to see how many are ignorant of how dual lane turns work. Another problem area you might remember is the May Road intersection with Market Street down by McDonalds and Burger King at the opposite end of the village. There's two turning lanes off May Rd with the leftmost lane for left turns only and the rightmost lane letting you turn left, go straight (there's a Walgreens there now), or turn right to head towards Norwood. Always have to be watchful if I'm in the right lane and turning left, if there's a vehicle in the left lane.

If they both reach the white line at the same time then yes, but POV car was at the line well before the truck was, so therefore they get right of way.

The blue car saw their opportunity for insurance fraud, right? They just gunned it at the light, even though the other cars were making likely illegal moves, that blue suv did that intentionally.

Regarding the commentary about the turn wreck at 1:33, I too have noticed that green turn arrows and yellows have gotten much shorter now. Not sure what's going on, and I don't live where that accident happened, either.

Honking is not to tell people you frustrated, it's to warn of danger. Man runs a red light, he may honk to let others know of his presence, say he can't stop in time. Someone runs a stop sign and you can't stop in time, you honk as you brake, steer, and brace for impact to let them know to do what they also can to try to prevent a collision or at least reduce the damage and injury. Honking is not for raging, it's to let others know you are present or exist. Lol people.

1:38, blue SUV gunned it intentionally. #1 rule in driving is avoid an accident, even if you have the right of way. I hope the cam was shared with those that got hit, and idiot in the SUV isn’t awarded any cash which was his intention from the get go IMO 7:18, prime example of “I paid for this dash cam, may as well use it”, was looking for a situation, as there was plenty of time and space to safely move over and allow traffic to merge safely and unimpeded…if the situation was reversed, he’d hope for the same courtesy.

I don't know how it'll be in the USA, but in Spain not helping those affected in an accident is literally a crime and I see a lot in videos of this type that the person with the dashcam doesn't help them

@2:18, I don't know about anyone else, but my assumption would be that they just killed a family and I would be on the phone and chasing those hit and runners until the police caught up with us. They would not escape.

The thing that surprises me most about these clips are the hard crashes where the people just drive by... In my country (Norway) you have to stop and help, if not you lose your registration for lifetime. Maybe they should consider this in America/Canada too?

1:10 something similar to that happened to my husband last night, except he was the oncoming vehicle and the idiot was trying to pass on a double solid, over a hill, at night, where there were no street lights. He showed me the dashcam video last night and you can hear his gasp as he braked and moved as far to the right as he could. Hope the other guy 💩’d his pants.

They just drift over like they're the only ones on a 4 lane, one way hwy. I even see their yellow indicator in the mirror, maybe I'm supposed to see it and move for the royal highness?

I've been binging this playlist for the past few weeks and there is finally a town that I'm familiar with making an appearance (Potsdam, NY, 6:33)! The intersections around that part of town can be confusing but it's still easy to maintain your lane there.
