The Japanese Cure for Hangovers

There's a popular Japanese anti hangover drink called "ukon no chikara" It doesn't work that well, here's why and, how to make a better drink.

Turmeric contains approximately 2 percent curcumin by weight, so the 3 grams I recommend in the video will give you 60 mg of curcumin. This is already twice as much as what was said to be effective for inhibiting alcohol intoxication in the study I mentioned. I’ve actually had good results even when it’s not heated or mixed with fat, so it will probably still help if you just drink it with water if you’re in a rush. There are plenty of recipes online to make the mixture more tasty.
The paper I referenced earlier said that “Dose-escalating studies have indicated the safety of curcumin at doses as high as 12 g/day over 3 months,” so most people should be OK to ramp up the dosage when it seems necessary. Then again, turmeric has been reported to have adverse effects when taken excessively. Some sources have recommended that if you’re going to make this a daily thing, you should limit intake of turmeric to only 1.5 g per day. In any case I’d say you should look more into this to see what would be best for you and what you’re taking it for.

I drink a smoothie most mornings that includes a heaping tsp of turmeric powder and a pinch of black pepper. I add coconut milk or half an avocado or both, among other things & I’ve noticed that when I have one too many, I usually wake up the next morning as if nothing happened the night before. I guess this is why. Thanks for shedding some light!

@@djsvideodiarys Funny, I have recently also been adding turmeric powder, ginger (not the pepper but gotta try that now), with peanut butter, whole milk, and basically whatever else you'd expect in a smoothie. But I also take it with a hot tea and some cheese in the morning, so I guess this explains a lot of positive effects I've been having lately in response to alcohol

For habitual users is a depressor, also the stimulation of appetite can lead to eating in excess(that can hinder vitality even more). After more that 20 years of daily consumption I would say life is better if you only use it sporadically and exercise more to get a better high. Sometimes anxiety or anxious personality, use it as an auto medication, if that`s the case, eating more potassium around 4700mg daily in form of vegetables and leafy greens, having regular sleeping schedule, and not using stimulants often like coffee can be a better approach. The best part of is that if you smoke once a week you get that noob high, that verges in psychedelic, and the rest of the time the extra energy and clear mind is such a blessing. Hope that helps in the meanwhile, not to scientific totally anecdotal, but is decades of experience and the effects on most people that are heavy users to.

All around the world since before civilisation every country have been using herbs and spices for health and medicine not just India even colder climates in Europe we have been using them the only difference is India is poor so they use that medicine in its herb form and we use it in synthetic medicine. The only reason medicine works is because the pathway in how it works was already made by our evolutionary ancestors

Now I know why we indians use Turmeric in almost all our curries that we eat regularly. Spices are the real medicines. We just need to research more and more. P.s-Indian grooms are given hot milk with some turmeric added to it on their marriage night.I think It is related to the performance of the male in the sexual act. Can you find some info about it whether it's effective or not?

It's tea that is green :D Only thing I can say is if you drink it buy the Korean or Japanese stuff (watch out there are many fakes). Chinese and Taiwanese green tea can have a lot of heavy metals in it. The best stuff my dad drinks is quite literally $16 per gram. He won't even make that stuff for me. You won't find quality stuff in a supermarket or wholefoods. You can find it sometimes in locked glass cabinets in Asian supermarkets though.

My ankles and feet were had become so swollen that I could not wear my work boots so between thanksgiving/new years I researched the internet finding what to do. Soon I was useing the afore mentioned mix and my feet went back to normal while my ankles would be kinda swollen after a 12 hour shift. I stopped doing it (cant stand warm drinks in the summer) so while my feet are still good my ankles have gone back to swollen. So I will go back at it. I could go on and on with how I have applied your information to my life with benefit but then well...it would not end for awhile. Thank you!

I came back to this video because I was hit with the realization that chicken curry, one of my favorite dishes ever, might help with hangover. And actually, a version of this dish happens to be quite popular in Japan. Maybe it's not a coincidence? "Pincho moruno" is also a very popular _tapa_ in Spain, kinda similar to shish kebab (probably inspired by it), and is typically consumed with beer. It contains curcumin, too.

The only thing that it does not add is black pepper (though to be fair, in KYoga they already have a lot of recipies with black pepper) Its heated curcumin with milk, almond oil and some honey for taste.
