White House: Golfing Makes Trump More Presidential

“Donald Trump loves golf. He has spent at least 91 days of his presidency at golf courses and has been confirmed golfing at least 35 times. Presumably, he has golfed more times, but the White House is often tight-lipped at what in the world the president is doing at these golf courses.
On Christmas Day, Trump tweeted that he was taking the day off then getting “back to work” after the holiday.
But Trump then spent the next seven days at the golf course. Reporters confirmed that the president was golfing during at least some of this time.
On Tuesday, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump’s time on the links when asked by Yahoo News reporter Hunter Walker what his biggest accomplishment there has been.
“I think it would certainly be developing deeper and better relationships with members of Congress in which those relationships have helped push forward the president’s agenda ― specifically when it comes to helping get the tax reform and tax cuts passed,” Sanders said, adding, “He has played golf with a number of senators and used that time certainly to accomplish that.”
Yet the White House is rarely willing to tell the press when this relationship-building is happening. Officials often don’t release details about whether Trump is golfing, and with whom, and reporters have a tough time confirming what he’s doing.”

AR Rains - Actually, it's more than that. That is just stays at the golf courses. He actually spent 111 days total at his properties. Each day he spent there the properties made money. Lots of money. his followers don't get it all the security and all of his guests sleep at the properties. That ain't free.

The issue here is not the golf (although that is a lot of golf). It is the fact that he is, once again, so utterly, stunningly unembarrassed about his own bullshit and hypocrisy. After all the times he spent bagging Obama for playing too much golf, he plays it more in his first year than Obama does in his entire time as president. That is such a Trump move. Most people would be too self conscious to do that. Most people would think "man I really gave the last guy a hard time about how much golf he played, maybe I shouldn't do it too much, it might look bad". Not Trump. He knows his supporters don't hold him to any kind of standard. He gets away with every lie. He finally admitted without so much as an apology that Obama was born in the U.S. after all the time he spent questioning it- supporters don't care. He just requested more money from congress for the wall that Mexico was supposedly going to pay for- supporters don't care. He cuts medicare and medicaid after promising he wouldn't- supporters don't care. It's like they are hypnotized or something. The golf binges matter because they show how much contempt Trump has for the intelligence and attention span of the public.

I had a short conversation with two Trump supporter about Trump's golf vs Obama. They are so blindly loyal to him that they said Obama playing gold was bad and Trump playing golf was ok because Trump was doing deals while Obama was not. For those two it was impossible to see the hypocrisy because they think there was not hypocrisy. You really could not do anything. They will support Trump.

I'm a law student in Canada. I do school work, study, volunteer, etc for easily 18 hours per day, weekends included. I sleep 6 hours per night and you could probably subtract 3 hours from the 18 for eat/hygeine/scheduled breaks, still amounting to 15 hours per day of solid work. I am certain that I do more work in a day than Donald Trump. I could never take an entire day off to golf. Not even once, nevermind 91 times.

And I think you need to brush up on those laws before talking about them. Also, don't even try to bring up free speech as an argument against it -- the point of free speech is to allow the people to speak up against the government without fear of prosecution, if I'm not mistaken.

Your average Roman citizen at some points of the Principatus era of Imperium Romanum (and some of the Dominatus era) had up to a third of the year reserved for holidays. They also mostly did manual labor, and the number of holidays was necessary to quell revolts, which were unnervingly common in Roman history.

I hear you on going away...but I just heard that it cost tax payers about $43 million in 2017 alone when he was out golfing/at his OWN resorts! So why do I want to pay for him, his security, etc to eat, sleep, drink, fly, rent golf carts - that go right to his OWN and his family's pockets. That is just not flying with me. I used to think it was fine. But not anymore. I'm done paying for him and everyone needed to get him there now.

Golf is hard, sometimes dangerous work. Florida golf courses are some of the world's most treacherous. Several times a year, Donald patrols his golf courses, personally wrestling packs of alligators out of the water hazards to make them safer for all of us. Other owners don't do that.
