Discovered Goggins after my divorce, I started making friends with people in the community only to realize that they were all comfortable being normal and not going anywhere in life. Went into ghost mode and my mind slowly expanded. Two years later I look 15 years younger, better shape than when I was 21, bought a new home and only have meaningful relationships. All starts with a pen & note pad. Make a to do list everyday!

I discovered these ideas in the early 2000's on my own. I began shaping myself as I saw fit and life got immensely better. After about 7 years I grew tired of what I considered being neurotic about it. I stopped actively choosing and got fat as could be while becoming an alcoholic. I've broken free from those chains now and understand that you can't rest on your past work. Let this be a warning to the rest of you. Just because you discover the path, it doesn't mean you can't knock yourself off of it. Stay vigilant.

@mikeschmidt4800 I too fell off physically and mentally after quite a few years performing at the top of my game and myself. Not like Goggins but way better than now. I didn't use alcohol but got diabetes from eating junk all the time, also got fat. I went from 217lbs at 6'1" to 289 lbs. I have been working hard to eat better, work out regularly and get back into my top shape. The workouts I'm doing good at, the eating not so much. I'm also 57 yrs old and things are harder now. I said all that to say this. Getting our mind right is the most important thing. Once we take control of our mind instead of letting it control us, we will succeed in all areas. I can do this. You can do this!! Do not, I say it again, DO NOT give up or give in!! Fight my friend until your last breath fight. Until your last ounce of energy fight. Then fight some more. I would like to hear about your progress if you would care to let me know. If not that's okay because I still know we can succeed and we can WIn. Best of luck my friend

I was severely bullied by an evil human being in elementary school. My father had died when I was 11. I had low self esteem and was sad. I was a 100 lbs weakling until summer before my freshman year. I started lifting weights that summer, kept running. Today I’m a retired Lieutenant Colonel of U.S. Marines. Went on to work at Amazon HQ1 in Seattle. Now I’m a C-Suite Executive. I’ve helped a lot of people in my journey. Especially people who just needed someone to be kind to them. How did I get here? By taking ownership of my life. By prayer. By being gritty and moving forward mentally, and physically, when I was alone. By not caring what others thought about me. By having a purpose greater than self. I turned 55 yesterday and went on an awesome Mountain Bike ride in the cold. I was the only person on the trail. I was grateful

I decided to sober up and begin working out again so that I can find purpose and become the person God intended me to be. I want to be financially stable and help others to the best of my ability. Hopefully start a family one day. Could I possibly work for you or get an opportunity at a position so that I can work my way up like you did? I've challenged myself a lot physically with a similar mentality to David Goggins, as though life is a video game where you just level up all the time with every challenge, for example I once cycled 75 miles to attend a work shift, but I've always ended up asking myself "what do I want?" and realising I felt more overall satisfied in myself whenever I was doing more of what I actually liked and wanted to do, so the way I look at his advice now is that sometimes life is hard and we don't always get what we want and sometimes we have to work hard to get it and THAT is the time when David Goggins and other motivational advice helps, but I think it's toxic to look at it like a lifestyle. I would know because I've lived such a lifestyle and it's just one ego boost after another, it's the equivalent of being a drug addict but instead getting high on endorphines and stroking your ego, which again can be really effective in difficult situations which are outside our control but not as a lifestyle. There's much more to experience in life and I don't believe David Goggins is a very intimate person considering his poor relationship with his family, which is sad.

Yeah, I’m now getting this figured out in my early 30s. I tried all the copes: video games, alcohol, politics, New Age hippy spirituality, social groups, social media, conspiracy theories. The problem in our society is that everything out there is about teaching you how to live vicariously through others, getting you to continuously sit on your a$$. Training hard and learning how to run everyday teaches you how to live life for yourself. There are no copes. I even started going to the gym at 5AM instead of after work at 645PM. My sleep and energy are now better because I’m going to bed at 9pm, so my drive is now better. Now I just need to start working on my career again, because I’ve let it stagnate just working at the same place for the last 7 years. Can you find your balls? Great. Can you find your shoes? Put them on. Do you have a floor? I’m tired of this society. I’m tired of people. I suck at running too. I’m 205lb and have a hard time getting down into the 10 minute mile range, but I’ll keep grinding everyday. My girlfriend is more gifted at running than me, and we’re both overweight.

Some of us may have fallen down along the way, its time we get back up. Stop waiting for help. You are all you need, get out there and live your life. The best version of yourself is waiting for you. You don't want to die only to find out that you were destined for so much more, but you just gave up. Don't give up.

Do you know Jesus Christ can set you free from sins and save you from hell today Jesus Christ is the only hope in this world no other gods will lead you to heaven There is no security or hope with out Jesus Christ in this world come and repent of all sins today Today is the day of salvation come to the loving savior Today repent and do not go to hell Come to Jesus Christ today Jesus Christ is only way to heaven Repent and follow him today seek his heart Jesus Christ can fill the emptiness he can fill the void Heaven and hell is real cone to the loving savior today Today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late come to the loving savior today Romans 6.23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. Mark 1.15 15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Hebrews 11:6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Jesus

Being super clear on what you want and working for it is the key. With me, I never knew what it was and basically did everything half a$$ed. Being "rich" or "having a good body" isnt it. Its saying "being a surgeon" or "olympic swimmer." Then it is just a matter of breaking down that into specific goals and a set course you follow reliously everyday. If you dont quit, youll eventually get there. But, if youre starting at 40 years old, some goals are literally impossible (like the above) so there is that you have to consider. The other problem is some people have no idea what it takes to be successful. We need to learn from the best to understand what it takes. This is very easy now with the internet. Unfortunately, even with such knowledge, most of us just can't do it. Perhaps we just don't want it that bad.
