Jo, I used to be obsessed with the looks of Asian women in general. Then, I started attending a church that was primarily Taiwanese and Chinese in the Southwestern United States. I was disillusioned pretty quick. I'm not saying they were bad or ugly girls as they were all very attractive and intelligent and ambitious, they were just very ABC in thier ambitious studying and college and carrer goals. I'm a Chinese man and the topic of this video doesn't really concern me, but still I wanna add in my 50 cents. I kind of agree with some of the pts you laid out, but there're some other pts I don't agree, particularly with your description of the 2nd type. I don't think women from villages or small 4th or 5th tier cities are more likely to date foreign men, quite the contrary I think city-dwelling women from large coastal 1st and 2nd tier cities are more likely to date foreign men, and I have several reasons to support my point. First is the later are much more likely to meet foreigners than the former, since most foreigners in China reside in coastal cities rather than in remote regions; secondly the later are also much more likely to speak some English while the former don't; and thirdly, women coming out of villages, minority regions, or 4/5th tier cities generally aren't worried about finding the suitable man; their expectations in life are lower and they could easily find a city-dwelling Chinese man who meets their criteria. Whereas for city-dwelling women who have had at least a college or university education, their expectations in life are higher, they usually aren't satisfied with finding love among their peers and want someone more exotic or more special. Plus the competition in the job market in Chinese cities are fierce; city-born or city-dwelling women with college or university degrees generally don't want to choose a washing, cleaning, or delivery job, yet they aren't qualified for more specialized jobs either. Therefore their career path is rather narrow, and not to mention that gender discrimination still exists in China especially regarding to some traditionally male-dominated positions and birth leave or parental leave isn't well implemented. Hence these educated city-dwelling women have a lot of reasons to date foreign men. I'm sorry if I've offended some people with my detailed description, but that's the way it is. And please do not blame these women, the Chinese society made them this way. And last but not least, I've noticed that the young gen of Chinese women (those born after 95) are more independent than ever, and a lot of them deliberately choose to remain single.
