@@Mal.victory a shout out means absolutely nothing here, come on. If a person can't be bothered to do much research on Palestine and Israel, the one thing I would suggest doing is to look at the number of Palestinians who have lost their lives over the years compared to the number of Israelis who have lost their lives over the years. The number of Palestinian civilians (including large amounts of *children* I must add) who have lost their lives compared to the number of Israeli casualties since the attack by Hamas last year is especially stark, but this has been going back years. Israel's government is FAR-right. They are committing genocide. They have displaced all of Gaza and have now been attacking the people in the one place they declared "safe" for them. They have released propaganda such as lying about 4,000 babies being beheaded which doesn't match the number of confirmed casualties at all. They made a smear campaign against the agency who were getting aid to the civilians, stopping vital funding from Western countries. They've blocked aid. They've withheld water. They've bombed and attacked hospitals. These are war crimes. They state that the goal is to eliminate Hamas, yet they are attacking the West Bank, which is not an area controlled by Hamas. Only Gaza is. Which still doesn't excuse the actions in Gaza. Hamas came into power 16-17 years ago and have not held an election since. So the civilians who have been forced from their homes (which is also a war crime, genocide, and falls under ethnic cleansing) haven't had a say in who they want in charge, Hamas or otherwise. A large number of these casualties were too young to vote the last time an election was held. Members of the Israeli government have stated explicitly that they want to eradicate Palestine. They want complete control. Since the state of Israel was formed, Palestinian civilians have been suffering and losing their lives. Benjamin Netanyahu has even made comments that were sympathetic to Hitler. That's legit. It's totally wild to tell people to educate themselves, and not get all their information from TikTok, and then go onto immediately say stuff that proves they don't know what they are talking about. If you're going to tell people to educate themselves, you could at least do the bare minimum amount of research, use different sources. I simply cannot understand the sheer number of people who have made up their minds without looking into this with any depth. There is also atrocities taking place in other countries. Including African countries. More people need to be talking about it. But people can't even be bothered to look beyond the surface level when it comes to Palestine. The surface level is often biased. But with the information that's widely reported I don't understand how you could miss what is happening. South Africa have taken Israel to court, about this genocide. The court found that there is overwhelming evidence to prove genocide. Immediately after this is when Israel tried smearing the organisation primarily responsible for dispensing aid to the civilians in Palestine. Which got them stripped of aid from several countries including my own. If you read this far, I appreciate it, and I again want to stress that a shout out is meaningless compared to the magnitude of what is happening. Also, if I shouted out someone, and they called me out for something I said that was ignorant. I wouldn't think "the audacity of this person, I shouted them out!" I would want to hear them out. I would want to listen. I would want to be educated. There's a chance, depending on the situation (as in, not this) that I may still disagree. Trying to say that someone cannot give criticism in the face of something like this because of a shout out is beyond weak. It's not even relevant.

I have a burning, passionate hatred for the words "educate yourself". It's so hostile; it's like an indirect way of labeling someone inferior for not being knowledgable. Like when I hear someone say it, it literally doesn't matter whether I agree with their opinion or not, I'm just like, whoa, get off the high horse, this is NOT the way to have open-minded and progressive discussions. Which I know is difficult to have with some people, but if you're acting like this, you're no different.

She started her channel with a 'don't bully idols' message then would talk in mean spirits about idols she doesn't like in the name of 'justified critique' when it's just her subjective opinion. Then, she chalked up Hwasa's controversy to 'Hwasa shouldn't be acting like this in public' which is dumb bc I've seen tons of celebrities and 'regular people' do worse than that honestly. After that, she made her Hyuna video about how fans shouldn't be disappointed in her bc Hyuna hasn't proclaimed herself as a feminist (I'm just disappointed by her as a regular human first, as a feminist second). A lot of her commentary and her shorts on KZfaq have certain undertones with views that I don't believe in. It feels like the same chads that say 'well, you snowflakes should just work instead of worrying about your damn feelings' or a woman saying 'she did this to herself'. Still, I stuck watching her bc I appreciate watching channels like hers even if I don't agree with her views or conclusions. But this was the last straw. No, it isn't a 'war' instigated by 'both sides' like she said. It's a literal genocide and she can wholeheartedly believe whatever she wants but I'm just not going to consume her content from now on bc I don't want to support her

her video defending JYP's (not the company, the singer) comments about mental health in his company after Lia from itzy was announced to take a break...yuck. she was putting profit above health, as if idols don't already go through so much in the industry and feel pressured to take their job.
@mohhhhhhhhgjghvcy
@mohhhhhhhhgjghvcy 4 ай бұрын
I agree with her perspective on that one tho. It seems that JYP Entertainment prioritizes mental health more than other entertainment companies. The frequency of JYP idols going on hiatus may not necessarily indicate a higher prevalence of mental illness among them, but rather reflects the company's proactive approach in allowing artists to take much-needed breaks. Unfortunately, in many cases, idols across various agencies may struggle with anxiety and depression without receiving adequate support or recognition from their management. This discrepancy underscores the importance of mental health awareness and support within the K-pop industry.

Has she read the diverse and wide array of literature (Ilan Papé, Noam Chompsky, Rashid Khalidi) or is that too “extreme” for her? Does she see the videos coming out of Gaza everyday? Personally, after seeing many boycotts in the land of Kpop, I think there is/are clear difference between the boycott that works and the boycott that doesn’t work. Taking successful example from Orbit who boycotted BBC. Here the objective is clear, the common enemy is BBC and knowing how they are in debt hence what hurt them the most is by orbit not buying stuff indefinitely. There’s no clear end date to the boycott, potentially they won’t ever buy anything BBC released at that point of time. These all clear objectives are the things that hard to define once it comes to big4. They’re not lacking money (at the moment at least), a couple of days don’t work too, and the unity of fans across big4 to stop consuming Kpop indefinitely until we get what we want, this is even harder to achieve.

There's a large difference between expressing your opinions in a constructive way and outright bullying. This shift really turned me off from her recent content. She seems to believe that just because her 'opinions' are backed by factual information, they hold more weight than anyone elses'. According to her mindset, if a statement lacks factual backing, it's deemed irrelevant. Which really isn't true, opinions are opinions. As a Palestinian, I appreciate the intent of the kpop boycotts but I think it failed. The issue was that it was very unorganized & they went into this unprepared. They should plan ahead for next time, come up with stronger strategies (ex: mass emailing companies, flooding social media comments/dm's boycott messages, starting donations, etc), & work on forming a community within the fandom meant to help spread the word (like forming a union/creating official social media pages). Sure, it takes time but the BDS movement wasn't formed overnight either. Fans would also need to be persistent with it (EX: if we were to all flood social media messages with Palestine flags, it would have to be something that's done over a period of time). As for Everglow-down, sometimes we should just keep our mouths shut. Also why're these anti-boycott people always using the "but the employees" excuse to make boycotts seem bad when said employees/unions (who are already mistreated by these multi-million dollar corporations) are advocating for boycotts?

I’m tired of people saying “educate yourself” but they do little to actually do that and I think you have to practice what you preach when you make a criticism of something. What I am genuinely concerned for the boycotts is what you addressed which are the minimum wage workers in employed at these franchises. I know you say they aren’t affected but at the same time, if stores are getting shut down, opening hours aren’t as busy as before, I’m sadly confident that this does affect the employees that might live paycheque to paycheque and can’t easily transfer jobs. I’ve worked in a franchise, and my hours would go from 20 to one 3-hour shift a week if there wasn’t a lot of customer traffic. So while I don’t think people should hold back on the boycott and supporting Palestine, this is one legitimate issue that we should examine too because unlike the billionaire companies who are the real problem and actively support ongoing atrocities, low income workers don’t have that kind of power and they’re just trying to make ends meet. I think what bugs me the most about this whole situation is how much this falls in line with what I have gathered to be Cheryl’s obsession with “evidence.” She’s kind of fixated on the idea that because her opinions aren’t completely unfounded that means that they are justified on an empirical level. It’s not only gotten annoying, but just blatantly objectively WRONG. If the girl can’t pull up a case study as “evidence” backing up her claims then it’s an opinion, will always be an opinion, and I personally am upset at how desensitized to violence she has shown herself to be in order to think that lacking empathy is ok. It’s the intention behind the boycott that counts. It’s the fact that people are actively attempting to de-escalate decades of violence and suffering against living, breathing human beings is what counts. This should not have needed to be said.

I noticed the anti woke thing too (it’s so weird cause it’s like selective anti woke remarks). Also she legit made a video recently on how awful gen z are, and as a gen z lemme tell you I’m sick of it. Idk why it’s so hard for people to get it through their skulls that gen z is one of the first generations to be so interlinked with technology and social media. Like if baby boomers had tik tok don’t you think you’d be seeing them doing fucked up stuff? It’s the same logic as saying ‘the world sucks now’. Like maybe, just maybe, you’re just seeing more of it now thanks to a 24 hour news cycle that you can read at any moment on your phones? Like hello, common sense people. Of course social media means that gen z have unique flaws to that, but we aren’t any worse than any generation that came before. Anyways rant over 😅

@@notaspeck6104 the transphobia comes from a video of hers called “I read your confessions” or something like that. On confession 27 someone said that a song made them realize that they were trans. @@notaspeck6104I will give you three examples of moments where she rubbed me the wrong way. I want to clarify that she is never been openly transphobic, but, as I said in the comment, she made strage remarks here and there that I found questionable at best. The first is the one that @Pineconeong already explained. In her "I asked for kpop confessions and I regret it" video, she reacted to a confession that stated "BOY by treasure made me realise I was trans" with: "Could you imagine if somebody walked in and said that kpop made me realize that I was straight? You people need to get a job". The second example comes from her "Gen z and gen alpha are ruining kpop" video. In the section titled "Oppressed vs oppressor", where she basically repackage the whole oppression olympics argument, (in my opinion a non- issue overblown by right wing commentators), she stated: "In the category of the oppressed class you have people of colour, then you have women, but there has to be a hierarchy on it[...] because black women are the most oppressed women of colour, but that isn't before trans women, is an entire system".The third example is something that I swear I remember seeing, but, for the love of god, I cannot recall in which video it was. If someone else knows what I'm talking about please comment below. I clearly remember an instance where, in one of her videos, she used a clip of a transgender woman explaining why she thought of herself as a natural woman, as an example of fallacy thinking and lacks of logic by people this days. I also remember thinking, at that time, that she could have use literally any other clip, instead of one that reinforced the harmful narrative that transgender people are irrational and demanding in their claims. That's all. Sorry for my broken english. 😅

Ex: the collab with itzy, nnmix, skz, and jyp with coke, like I'm a big midzy and stay but I'm not gonna stream, interact, or purchase anything to do with that brand just because my favs are advertising it, I know better. (But I will say that coke had partnered with jyp for years, so just because the artists are involved that doesn't necessarily mean that they support is(not)real).

Everglowup is the worst kyoutuber ever! She wanna be different so bad that it's showing. I used to watch her videos in the past bc I found that she speaks with confidence & reasoning but turns out no one is more childish than her. I've not watched her videos for yrs now & just came across this video yet i'm not surprised by the context

I've been stumbling across her videos since the HyunA situation, and she literally just came off as a bully fr 💀. In one video she was talking about people forcing someone to like their favourite song and I get it, it's fucking annoying. Then, she said we should respect each others opinions about songs but then proceeded that those people have shit taste in music?? Like, she literally sounded like the people she was talking about. The people defending her hypocrisy was actually concerning and even now, she's ignoring all the hate comments she's getting and only replying to her fans

@@baoziday5178 I noticed the hypocrite behavior when she spoke about the Chan situation. I called out her behavior and wrote comments on those videos. I have no idea if she deleted my comments as I haven't watched her videos recently. I had a feeling something wasn't right during that whole time I saw those videos. It was like another person I dealt with online, they showed the same behavior as her. It's almost a bit like a covert narcissist.

I also don't know Everglow-Up personally but I read the comments and it actually sounds similar to how narcissists behave. I'm not accusing her but it's just odd for her to be like that and also be helpful. Her behavior doesn't match her words.

@@baoziday5178 That's what she did in the past. Speaking like she can't tolerate artists getting hate & bullied while enabling the same to other artists in her comments & liking hate opinions. I commented this somewhere else already but, I will say it here. There was a clear end goal. Idk how the big 3 companies were involved but the original sentiment was hybe. Their ceo is scooter braun who is a raging zionist that openly donates money to israel during the genocide. Hybe fans want him gone from the company and have been boycotting and still currently boycotting. The end goal is to get him removed because fans money is being donated to something we should all stand against. Somehow moas also wanted to add in because txt kept buying from boycotted companyies. But the original boycott is still ongoing, and its working. Scooter braun is in fans dms mocking them. A person who is unbothered doesn't do stuff like that.

I had no idea about the boycott until seeing her short (but I will be following it going forward). I'm so disappointed in EGU remembering her come-up and the stupid takes she gives all while being in her echo chamber of supporters which she has denounced others for in the past. I don't want to speak in definitives but she often speaks like "she who knows all" which paired with her sometimes aggressive way of delivering her views is just horrid.

Oh my god yes finally the world is seeing what I saw in 2022 💀 Anyways the classic educate yourself is getting old and the person who said itself doesn’t know sh1t about the things. I left any kind of interest in her channel back in 2022 when I started getting annoyed by her hypocrisy she targets idols who are common enemy of the fandoms and “criticises “ them and also says some idols are creepy because of some of their facial or physical features and then also say how it is bad to body shame others. She twits and turns her own words according to her interest and literally like any toxic K-pop Stan pick and choose who to hate and criticise under the name of being “brutally honest “ and I used to be a huge fan of her videos and used to watch whatever she posts on her channel and I couldn’t stand her being petty and always keeping some idols as her all time villains and always trying to pull them down 💀 And the boycott I really didn’t have much hope coz yeah as you said the stans can’t live without streaming their opparsss music 💀😭I was really shook at the beginning when I saw some K-pop stans bringing the “no politics in K-pop “ argument when people were telling to spread awareness about what’s happening in Palestine 🥲and they themselves was using the same thing for fanwars. Thanks for speaking up about this nabi💕✨

I was already disillusioned that she did what she preaches ("educate yourself", "treat people with kindness") considering so, SO many opinions she has shared and how much superiority she presented them with. However this is way too much. A creator denying that a horrifying genocide is happening, endorsing zionists, and constantly ridiculing people for their efforts to make a change should NOT be one of the loudest voices in the k-pop community, and have the platform that she has. I will stop consuming her content from now on. Thank you for this video, the reasons you listed make a lot of sense. I think it would have been useful to have goals like "10% less streams and sales for all groups involved" so that kpop fans could have something tangible to strive for

I used to like Everglow-up. I always thought that her videos were very informative and interesting, even though I sometimes disagree or have mixed feelings with her opinions. But when I saw the YT Short about her views on the boycott, I immediately felt uncomfortable about it. I went through the comments to see if other people felt the same and thank God I wasn't the only one. I also didn't know that she has the Israel flag in her Instagram bio and the fact that she's making fun of the genocide and hamas on Twitter, until I saw someone's community post about it. I quickly unsubscribed from her and yeah, I was disappointed. Cuz again, I used to like her video essays, but after that Short, I guess I've had enough.

NABI !! first of all thankyou so much for making this video and raising awareness as to what is happening in gaza. The reason I wanted to comment was to point out how much I've been disgusted my everglowup I used to follow her in instagram a few months ago.. the time genocide started happening in gaza and everyone started talking about it she actually posted a story talking about how uneducated everyone in situation is and somehow brought 9/11 into this.. she posted a big ass paragraph on her story talking about how people are using such a genocide as to dunk on people affected by the 9/11 tragedy (as if it even comes close to what is happening rn). she wrote how people were now making jokes about "Osama bin ladin taking down america" as to try to divert attention she posted upto like 4 stories until I unfollowed and blocked her bc of how icky I felt. also english isn't my first language so please bear with me 😭

Is it just me or Everglow up has been changing or falling off. I hadn’t been on ktube that much and she doesn’t even post as much as before and every time I would catch her video, I just felt this change in what they would practice what they preached and her attitude. I had not been relating or agreeing to any of their opinions. And seeing this going around in some way it just takes the cake for me to stop supporting this person because this is just not it. And they are being ignorant and just ignoring what happened when they used to preach about accountability. I don’t get it. Thank you for filling me in.

Im a former mod for her discord server and i have alot to say. I got demoted in her discord server for Suspicious Behaviour, Orchestrating “raid”. These things she accused me of is not true i did not use webhooks to raid her discord and i deleted the webhook because everyone was being mass pinged i was also convinced someone shared the link around which resulted in everyone getting spammed and other things, I did not create the webhook nor did i share it around. Next thing she accused me of impersonating someone girl i did nothing i didnt impersonate nobody that person joined the same mutual server as me and decided to impersonate someone naturally i panicked and i was confused about their intention turns out they were trying to blacklist the server and i informed cheryl about this . Then she DMed me a Pdf of an investigation on me, accusing me of impersonating and being a raider i was given 24 hours to speak and defend myself or i will be blacklisted and she will share the document around Naturally i dmed her back and i was crying a lot and i was visibly stressed while trying to sort out things she was bringing up multiple topics and i was trying to answer her at some point she brought up my ex (who i will not name) and asked if i have spoken to her ofc i said no and i removed her from contacts but she still wanted to see our dms and i showed her proof i was not incontact with her then she started to bring up the webhook bullshit that i had no involvement overall this situation was super bad and i was almost at the point of suicide during all this too which made it worst for me

But this time around, i can't help but be appalled by the ignorant and horrendous take esp on a sensitive topic like this. Like this is not some random kpop unpopular opinion vid where you spew any bs and get away with it! Also, the reaction it to it like ma'am, what did you say..'cope with it'? The way she chose to underplay it with such an amateurish response..i couldn't have in the least expected this from her, but hey glad to have finally woken up. As someone who said it herself in the past, keeping aside your moral compass and going to any lengths to defend your favs' problematic behaviour is downright embrassing which is exactly what I would like to tell ppl who still support her on this. I truly respect you for making this video. Not everyone has the guts to stand up to a big channel and call them out for the heinous things they've said. For her to actually have the audacity to tell people to research when fact and proof is present in recorded history is pathetic. And talking about literal genocide of a people like it's another outstretched dating scandal is so idiotic. The thing everyone needs to understand is that people like her can't be helped; egotistical and severely lacking any kind of empathy, or just pure hate that in this case is exhibited in the form of Islamophobia.
