This show was the best thing Cartoon Network ever put out. I wish we got another episode that showed where everyone was a few years down the road. Plus, the use of the season 2 song "Friends are there to help you" as the final song and in the credits of Big Picture Show was a tear-jerking way to send it off. There will never be a show like this one. It has such a sacred place in my heart.

Ed, Edd n' Eddy will always be one of my favorite shows, (Pop Goes the Ed, One + One = Ed, Once Upon an Ed, Hand Me Down Ed, a Fistful of Ed and May I have this Ed are my favorite of each of the seasons, my favorite special is the Alien Special and the movie was the GOAT)

My favorite cartoon is Kids Next Door because it's more action based but Ed, Edd, n Eddy is an extremely close second

The only cartoon that beats this out for me is Samurai Jack. Primarily because it’s based on action which I like. That being said, I LOVE Ed, Edd, n Eddy. Its comedy and relatability through its characters is something I’m endlessly fond of. This also introduced me to the Freudian trio trope which I never fully learned about until recently. To put it simply, the Freudian trio consists of the Id, the Superego, and the Ego. The Id is the one who acts primarily on baser instincts or lacks any logic. The Superego acts primarily on logic and social customs. The Ego acts on a mix of these which can be considered the heart of the trio. Applying this to the Ed boys, you got Ed as the Id, Edd as the Superego, and Eddy as the Ego (funnily enough). If you know me and my younger brothers, in some ways, our personalities are somewhat akin to Ed, Edd, n Eddy. With me being the physically strongest of the three but I also have quite the creative imagination which makes me the Ed of the brothers. The second/middle child has a penchant for money and business. Though he’s a lot more patient than Eddy. And finally there’s my youngest brother who is undoubtedly the most intelligent considering he’s a wizard with computers. Obviously he would be the Double D of the three of us as brothers. As someone who’s writing a book that’s centered around tragedy and frontier justice, I’m making use of the Freudian trio trope. While almost nothing like the Ed boys, the three characters that come together in the story has some similarities from them although the first two main characters are young adults and the third main character is a teenager. The first two being a young adult male war veteran turned vigilante (akin to the Punisher and Mad Max) and young adult female federal agent and the third main character is an eccentric computer hacker. The war veteran is obviously the physically strongest of the three while the federal agent is the more charismatic type (though this does not mean she can’t kick ass now and then) and then finally the teenage boy is mostly a pacifist preferring to solve problems with his brain rather than his body. For its goofs and seeing the Eds schemes fail miserably, I love this show for what it is. It’s such an iconic part of my childhood, that it’s become inseparable for me when thinking of simpler times as a child. The same could be said for my younger brothers because all three of us loved watching Ed, Edd, n Eddy. And still do to this day.
