Quick disclaimer: Haaland hasn’t officially signed yet (at least it’s not officially announced), but according to our sources it’s only a matter of time now. So as our friend Fabrizio would say: here we go 😜. Edit (31/03): it's official now 😎.

Something to note as well is Nike's increasing foothold over Gen Z. Just look at how popular the Nike Dunk or Nike Tech Fleece is. Getting both Haaland and Mbappe would tip it even further in Europe. Nike has their future in the US secured, but getting both Haaland and Mbappe would even further cement Nike as the dominant sportswear brand. Especially with how much the Striker is valued over the midfielder or defender. Even if Adidas has Bellingham and Pedri, they can't match the Glitz and Glamour of Europe's two best strikers.

Great video as always. I was also interested to know if Nike being the kit sponsor for Norway (his national team) also played a part in swaying Haaland to Nike, similar to Nike/France/Mbappe or Adidas/Argentina/Messi. Clubs are temporary, but nationality is forever.

I am a longtime Manchester United fan, but I can honestly say there is not a player on the planet that I am more excited to watch then Haaland. Everytime I think he can't possibly be this good he does something else to blow my mind ever further... cue the 5 goals in a Champion's League match. He also seems like such a likeable guy in general that you can't help but want to see him succeed in life... even if he happens to play for City. Really amazing video, well edited and great insights. I know it may be a little more niche than some of the topics you cover, but it would be fascinating to here your take on what is happening with shoe sponsors among sprinters right now: New balance is making a lot of moves (especially for Woman athletes), Nike let the last Olympic vhamp and the current world champ walk to Puma (who still hasn't released spikes to the public), and Adidas has signed a loy of top sprinters. What is going on? Why is Nike letting go of all their sprinters?

If Haaland signs with Nike, it is because Nike will pay him the most amount of money. There is no other reason - period. No top level player actually cares about the fit, because they get custom products if they don't like them anywaysw which is really inexpensive for a brand to do. Messi sometimes used to wear a special leather version of the F50 that was not available to the public. When Neymar was with Nike he advertised the Hypervenom 2. However, he actually wore a pair of Mercurials painted as Hypervenoms. Even if they like the retail version of a product. What they will always get is a boot that is custom fitted for their feet. I have seen videos of Pro player boots that were a size 9 7/8. A size that does not exist for retail, but was perfect for the professional. The same can be said about brand reputation and history. No player actually cares about the brand. While they are able to generate money on social media. The brand benefits from the player and not the other way around. He won't get more Instagram followers if he wears Nike instead of Puma. The only difference would be, if the athlete actually has a share in a brand. Like when Federer ditched Nike shoes for On. He probably doesn't even have a contract with On. But because he has a share of the company, its success will bring him more money longterm

Was never a fan of Nike's clothes or shoes. For some reason never felt comfortable in them. But at the same time, always felt comfortable in Adidas' clothes and shoes. But might just be my body type. In any case, doesn't matter what you wear if you cannot play. In his case we know he can play. But can he be as consistent as a Ronaldo or Messi? He doesn't seem to have the same skill set as either of them. So that is already a disadvantage for him...
