Short answer: Because GTA San Andreas 2004 is made with _love_ by people that even if they wanted to win money, they mainly wanted to make a good game and overcome what Vice City was. There's nothing in the "Definitive Edition" made for the love of videogames or wanting to overcome previosly released titles.

Definitive Edition is perfect example of laziness in video game industry. Rockstar did a huge mistake, when they hired some mobile developers to remaster their best games in two years.

Imagine if Rockstar set a competition for modders to make an enhance gameplay and winner game will publish and that modder get prize that would be perfect Rockstar just ruin this OG games

I'm up for remakes for older games if the idea is good, but in my oppinion remasters feel weird most of the time. They usually fail to reproduce the original style, and I think the game should be let as it is, as it represents the vision it was created by back then. So update old games for newer systems? I'm in! Remaster them? Nope, doesn't feel right for me, it just makes me wanna go back and play the original

My guess for the water is that the physics are of the original San Andreas but they replaced the water with UE4 water and now the water you see doesn't match up with the water physics. What's unfortunate the most about the Wasted and Busted screens is they don't have the classis San Andreas font anymore.

Thanks for posting this in 2022, now we're sure this won't be patched. That's such a shame, it's hard to still have some respect for Rockstar these days. Looks like Rockstar wanted us to say "wow, old games sucked! Let's buy RDR2 or spend endless money on GTA Online!" They didn't car at all that's sad.

When it comes to gta san andreas, Betaz never disappoint us.

You can always mod the graphics by yourself in the original, albeit you have to mix n match it yourself thus takes a very long time. But if you patience enough you'll have a much better "definitive edition" than what R* selling you.

A lot of bugs and glitches in the "definitive" edition of san andreas were originally from the "remastered" version. Aka the ones used for the PS3, mobile and Xbox something(I forgot which one), maybe more. Grove Street Games most likely used the "Remastered" version of gta san andreas as a starting point since they published the remastered version too. HOPEFULLY Grove Street Games starts getting better at making "games" and actually make the game better than the original and also bring things back from the original san andreas

But we need to mention a fact, that GTA The Trilogy Definitive Edition wasn't developed by Rockstar, but by Grove Street Games.

I would like to add that you can only move the camera vertically and horizontally when flying in the trilogy whereas in the originals(San Andreas), you can move the camera wherever you want. Another downgrade I encountered was the aiming and camera. Don't get me wrong, being able to move the camera and free aim is a big improvement for 3 and Vice City however the original San Andreas already had this function and when it was redone, it became even worse. For example, you can free aim but it'll automatically lock on to another npc whereas in the original you can break the lock on to keep free aiming so this is kinda annoying. Also, idk why they removed the health bars in San Andreas it was perfect. Lastly, they even removed the ability to shoot with L1 which is a bummer because using circle(i use the old control scheme) forces me to play claw which is awkward.

One more thing i love in orignial is old graphics it gives vibes and nostalgia

So we have the mobile ports, made by War Drum studios (now Grove Street Games) So in the Definitive Edition we got: A game, which was ported to mobile devices, then ported back to PC/Consoles. Nice. if y'all want to play a definitive edition for GTA 3 and vice city, play og Xbox ports, they are the best version of those two games graphically and have no bugs. for San Andreas PS2 is the best one, or the PS4 PS2 classic is also really good

Dude could you do a scarface vs gta vice city comparison with the remastered versions. The Scarface game has an unofficial remaster on Nexus mods and the game looks soo much better so could you compare them.

This is such a nit-picky list of minor things it's not even worth bitching about. Hiding the hud? Been playing games since 1986 and never once have I opted to hide the hud. My guess is 99.8% of other gamers won't hide the hud either. None of the issues described here are worth losing any sleep over

The most common thing I see being removed from these games after updates or remakes are music and stations from the car radio. I'm not sure if it applies to SA. Can you not just mod the original to improve the graphics? That way you'll get something more up to date with everything from the original you wish to keep

To add another missing detail is that in the classic version you could order gang members to attack anyone. In the definitive edition you can't and they become cannon fodder or simple bystanders. They don't even shoot at attackers most of the time
