Excellent video! And I agree with you on the ST1300! Since November 2005, when I bought my first ST1300, I have put on over 398,000 miles between five of them. I put 174.3K miles on my first, selling it to one of my sons back in 2013. He has over 190K on it now. I have a 2010, that I bought wrecked, it only had 1,500 miles on it and I have put over 100K miles on it. When I was working/commuting in SoCal, I had 125 miles a day, including a lot of lane splitting. The ST1300 was a perfect bike for that. I'm now retired and haven't been able to ride as much as I would like, so right now I have 4 ST1300s, and I'm having to thin my herd, since I just can't see them sitting around. Again, these are great bikes and I love every time I get on one of them and go for a ride! I do prefer long rides of course! ;) Enjoy yours!

Honda made a HUGE mistake when they dropped the ST1300. The bloated Gold Wing is far too big & way too expensive for a lot of people & the ST1300 filled the gap between 1000cc inline tourers & the Bloat Wing. Why they dropped it & didn't update it saddens me.

I personally don't know but I did hear they supposedly to be coming out with a 2024 pan-european in Germany first there's a video of it that has redesigned of one but you do know it's a st1300 if you were see it KZfaq video all it shows is the older model.. from the picture on the screen that leads you to the video it looks real good... It would be nice if they bring it out

The cultural analogs you used to describe this amazing machine had me in stitches. I bought my first one three years ago and am still convinced Honda kiboshed the ST because it started to hurt their bottom line. I bought mine at 48K - I'm at 60K now. Not a goddamn thing ever went wrong besides routine maintenance. They are also incredibly easy to work on... afterall the ST is known for being a little behind the times. But we don't buy STs because they are trendy, we buy them because they look good and can be easily maintained at home. That's the thing, you put a ton of miles on the ST and save a lot of money in the process by maintaining the bike yourself.

I'm on 3rd st 1300. Brilliant bikes. I usually have something around 500 to 650 as a toy or for mountains and while ill try everything from a versys 650 to a ktm i will always have an st for motorways, distance, comfort, pillion and wind resistance. Handling is awesome for a big bike. Reliability is superb.

A friend of mine has the ST 1100. I would have to say, it's the best "all 'round" bike that I've ever ridden. It pulls like a steam train, down low, and when you get it up in the rev range, a bit, it goes like a rocket. On a flat level road it will comfortably move along in top gear at 40mph without lugging. If you drop it down a gear at 60, to overtake, you pass whatever you're passing in no time. And the engine doesn't vibrate anywhere in the rev range, unlike its main competitor from the day, the BMW K series. It's a heavy bike, but despite that, surprisingly sporty, and that sportiness doesn't come at the expense of ride quality. The brakes are more than adequate, too. But no bike is perfect. The stock seat wouldn't be out of place on a tractor built during the depression. It takes a team of 40 race mechanics a week to get the plastics off to in order to perform the most menial engine maintenance jobs. And the bike is heavy. If you park it nose down on the slightest gradient and can't ride it out forward, that's where the bike is staying, for eternity. You aren't pulling it out without help. This is the only reason that I would say that the ST 1100 isn't the "best" city bike. Out in the country, however, and if you spend a lot of time in the saddle, these things are hard to go past. I'd love to try the 1300 to see how they compare.

I have had my ST for a few years. If Honda started making these again I would but new one in a heartbeat. Handles incredibly well (Michelin Road 5), good mileage & range (19km/l, 29L tank) for a 500km range, great wind protection, quiet and quick! Even my local Honda dealer told me if I have an ST I would not be happy with a Wing.

I have to tell you back in the day when I was running sport bike and I would see a goldwing BMW bagger Harley-Davidson Street or road glide and I would be thinking Old Man bike man if I only knew what I know now . I now have ST 1300 and as primitive as it is it's no doubt the dependable maintenance-free of course you got to do the usual oil plugs air filter . Best running bike I have.. With 2 North Carolina to Arizona and back and a few other trips in between she still runs great....

I'm currently reviving my 2003 ST after 12 years of not being ridden, 1/2 full lower tank (fuel is damn nasty after 12 years!). I cut open a car with it in a head-on not long before it got parked up, so the front half has done about 12,000 km..the back half abut 32,000km. Put the very first km on it, looking forward to getting it back up and running to put loads more on.

Have had …. 2005 Kawasaki concours / 1991 Honda st 1100/ 2001 triumph trophy / 2007 Honda st 1300 ( still have ) and a 2015 triumph trophy St 1100 was like an electric bike. So vibration free. St 1300 IS more too heavy than st 1100 due to gas tank actually holding gas but it’s fuel injected. Handles like a dream. Better seat. Can be raised. Windshield can go up and down. Damn near bullet proof Doesn’t have cruise control Does nearly everything as well or better than triumph trophy …. But love it will keep both Verdict. You can’t get more cycle for say $4500 to $5500 than that pan European. Joy to ride

Great video. I have a ST1300 and agree 100% with you. This bike is the Sean Connery of motorcycles, it ages gracefully and packs a punch with open road adventures. Tire longevity is definitely a con of this bike, but when you put it against the reliability and comfort that the ST offers then it's bearable. I've been running Meltzer tires on mine but considering switching to Dunlop on the next tire change. Michelin are becoming to expensive for the mileage you get from them, plus when you get a tire that you like (road 4, road 5) they discontinue that model for the latest model ($$$$). I have been playing with the idea of Shinko as well and noticed that you have Shinko Verge 011 on your ST. What are you thoughts on Shinko tires on the ST for performance in rain and corners, road feedback and longevity? Could be a good topic for your next video. Thanks again for posting. I appreciate the information you provide. Ride safe.

"Frame members too hot to touch", "cooked crotches", "heat rash on legs", fuel actually boiling in the tank🥵 (it's on KZfaq, see for yourself), "impossible to ride for any duration in hot weather", "you could heat a frozen meat pie in the console glove box". It goes on and on where ever I look. Im actually looking to buy one of these bikes, a 2004. Can any of you fan boys enlighten me on the realities of doing distance with the heat issues?
