Why You Should NOT Go Vegan

I first went vegan back in 2012, initially because I wanted to adopt a healthier diet but also because I didn’t want to cause harm to animals or the environment. But over the last 8 years or so, I’ve noticed a lot of people have become vegan and eventually fell of the wagon and weren’t able to sustain it - both online and in real life.
First, let’s define what veganism is - it’s a lifestyle that abstains the exploitation of animals. While a plant based diet is a huge aspect of veganism, the mindful choices about the type of clothing and cosmetics that you use or abstaining from going to places that captivate animals such as zoos or places like Seaworld. I’m not saying that all of these people to stopped being vegan didn’t know this stuff, some certainly didn’t, but many people think that diet is all there is to it.
If you listen to these people who make their videos about quitting veganism, you find that they talk about the health issues that they experienced while being vegan - making it seem like a vegan diet is supposed to be healthier than a diet with animal products. It seems that a lot of people, just like myself, adopt a vegan lifestyle thinking that they’ll experience health benefits but when you actually look at their diet and lifestyle, you find that in most cases they weren’t ever really eating healthy in the first place.
You see, a vegan diet can simply be a diet composed of potato chips and coke. We all know that’s not healthy but that’s also vegan. Honestly, many of those people who eat a ton of processed foods and experience health problems would have been better off eating mostly a whole food, plant based diet even if it did have a little bit of animal products in it instead of going full carnivore like some people. And by the way, I’m NOT promoting meat, dairy, eggs, or fish but a diet made up of a ton processed foods isn’t gonna be a whole lot better.
Also, a healthy diet isn’t just about eating the right foods because I also agree that many of these people who stop being vegan actually do eat a whole food, plant based diet but eating a healthy diet also means eating the right amount of food. I mean I can’t tell you how many of these people under-ate in calories, which can lead to not getting in enough of other nutrients. And not only did some under-eat but also went on extended, non-supervised water fasts which can be really dangerous if not done properly.
I guess the reason I’m making this video is because I want to see you succeed if you are thinking about going vegan. It’s not because I want to shame anyone for quitting veganism or for wanting to just eat plant based or for wanting to go vegan just for the animals. I think you should always do what makes sense. For me, it’s about taking care of my body with healthy, whole plant based that don’t harm the animals and are more sustainable for the Earth. It sounds like a bunch of hippy stuff, I know. But please don’t just depend on the internet for your nutrition/medical advice because there is so much crazy advice and information out there. Please always seek the recommendations of a registered dietitian because if they know what they are talking about and have read the position paper form the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, they will agree that you can absolutely be 100% fully vegan for the animals and the planet while still being healthy.

I went plant based for my health, followed a lot of people that didn't know what they were doing, and made a lot of mistakes with my health, kept educating myself (on all aspects of veganism, including the food part), finally found what works for me, and became a compassionate vegan along the way. This is not just a diet, it is a way of living, and yes there is a lot of change, but after some time, it gets easier. Those that went plant based and quit, quit because they were following a rigid diet that lacked in so many ways. Forget water fasts, juice fasts, smoothie cleanses, all fruit, no oil, no fat diets (the word DIEt is the keyword - they don't work). Focus instead on eating a variety of food that grows from the ground or falls from the trees (and in their raw form as much as possible), include healthy FATS, because they won't kill you, enjoy your favorite foods (veganised, of course), stop fussing and obsessing over every little thing you eat, and you will thrive on this way of living!

👏👏👏exactly. Alot don't get enough healthy fats to feel satiated or to make hormones. So the moodswings start, hormones get out of whack and then nutrition deficiencies and finally stuff like heart arrhythmia, organ stress, etc. I personally experimented for 10 yrs with most diets to find what works for me. Everyone should do the same

To be honest I want to go vegan because of environmental and health reasons. But I can't do that until I move out cause my Mom is incredibly against it, saying "it's unhealthy" "you wont get a good balanced diet" "you'll ruin yourself trying" etc. But when I move out I want to become vegan and also be as sustainable and 'zero waste' as possible. It won't matter if she doesn't like it, it's not her body.

bananiac I'm 69 years old and twenty years ago I was already experiencing people around me getting sick and dying. I didn't want to be one of them. Since that time I have learned how Animal agriculture is destroying the planet and how factory farming treats the animals they produce. No way I am going to be part of that. It was harder 18 years ago. There wasn't the support there is now and the products available now are extraordinary. I started out raw but it was too difficult for me to stick to. My only rules now are no animal products, no processed food, and no oil. I do eat salt and Indulge in a goodie now and again. Love your channel.

I do agree to all of those reasons why a vegan diet failed for some, but there is one big elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about which are digestive issues or gut dysbiosis. A lot of people who come to this lifestyle have these gut issues and when it gets worse, they blame the diet and go on the carnivore diet instead. To know more about the cause of these digestive issues, you can listen to plant based Dr. Zach Bush on this topic of the microbiome, and what has been ailing most people since 1992, the science is all there. Here is the title to search for on KZfaq j " Zach Bush SNC 2018 Health Impacts of Large Scale Chemical Farming "

Great comment. I made a vid explaining what your talking about as i too understand what u are saying. I think all of Americans suffer from weak stomach acid honestly and the chemicals in EVERYTHING (food and hygiene) is causing the autoimmune and metabolic diseases. Smh. Sad. But i do agree that most vegans dont eat correctly and quit. Some dont eat enough calories, others just cram carbs and junk, some dont eat enough flax. Chia or hemp seeds to get healthy fats. So then they go get synthetic vitamins that cause MORE problems and its just fucked up from there. But i will say that not everyones genetics are the same and people need to eat for their blood type and ethnicity so their blood has the correct nutritional compositions for them.

Also as ive experimented on myself with all diets over 10 yrs and i've found that it is best to eat whole food diets and restricted diets are best for short term to heal and detox. That just my opinion but everyone needs to experiment and find out whats best for them.

Honestly, I had problems for years with digesting vegetables. I had tons of stomach cramps and pain after meals. All of this was because I wasn't eating a well rounded diet. It took me a while of eating more fibre to get better at digesting food. Then in 2018 I had a bad infection to the point I almost went to the ER because I had antibiotics that didn't work. The antibiotics that I did take to get rid of the infection also destroyed my gut microflora that I had built up previously from 2016-2018. I listened to Zach Bush and did some research on building back up the gut microbiome. The things I took away. Prebiotics, Probiotics, Whole plant foods. It also can take time for people to correct these problems. IT IS AN INDIVIDUAL EXPERIENCE. Some people need to seek professional help from a gastroenterologist. I know of a few people who couldn't tolerate fodmaps, gut dysbiosis, or even lower populations of good microbes. I think we will see more of the impact of microbiome research as it envades the medical treatment and testing world. For now we can only point people in a direction and hope it works out for them.
@christianwilliams1136
@christianwilliams1136 3 жыл бұрын
@@marley7659 Also Dr. Zach Bush message is most of our digestive issues came about by using glyphosate since 1992 which is in itself an antibiotic and is the most used antibiotic in the world. What he proposes to fixing gut issues is to go expose yourself to as much pristine and untouched nature you can find as often as possible as that's where healthy bacteria is, and breath it in. I lived in the 80's and gut dysbiosis was very rare. People's chronic diseases were as follows, cancer in old people, heart disease in old people, strokes in old people, arthritis in old people, diabetes in old people and that was pretty much it. All neurological, and digestive issues went skyrocketing out of control after 1992 and I could not figure it out until I heard Dr. Zach Bush whole presentation, and it all made sense on where humanities health is at right now. The main event that changed our gut is we started spraying wheat in 1992 to kill and dry it to bring it early to market. Then After that year I became sick with a skin condition and the people around me were having issues with their gut, and had food sensitivities, allergies, skin disorders, and cancers went up, autism went out of control, parkinson, ms, crohnes, colitis, IBD, IBS they all went rogue after 1992.

First of all this video was wonderful pointing to all the character flaws and not in detail cause you clearly didn’t have enough time however you should start slow and not just think it’s ok to cold turkey and do so by implementing the right foods in. Once you’re able to prepare them to your liking and be versatile in doing so then you can substitute but first be happy with what you are choosing and how you are feeling inwardly and outwardly. Learn more and strive more and then others will ask questions and you can show them your results and please people journal and write the pros and cons because they have a big impact as well. I like this video God’s name or power wasn’t used in vain and I heard no cursing and so I could understand with my family beside me and also share it. The only thing vegan in my life is my makeup, nail polish, and skin care products because I'm literally allergic to a lot of metals and things they put in non vegan skin care and beauty products. I have attempted to go vegan, mostly because I don't like a lot of meat, but I rapidly (in an unhealthy way) lost weight and it made me more tired than I should've been, so I went back to a balanced portioned diet, where I eat only a little meat. I respect animals. I love them. I own hamsters. But I just don't wanna risk my health.

Anyone can become vegan because veganism is simply a political position (and, of course, having a political position usually involves a series of actions). However, not everyone can follow a completely plant-based diet (an action that is taken by most vegans), because there may be factors beyond a person's control that would limit their ability to do so. The definition of veganism includes the phrase "as far as possible and practicable". This means that as long as someone avoids harming non-human animals, as far as possible and practicable in their life, they are vegan. Some disabled and poor people may not be able to afford or succeed on a completely plant-based diet, but that doesn't stop them from being vegan. Veganism is universally practicable, but not necessarily in the same way. However, regarding the vegan diet, I recommend you to consult a nutritionist specialized in vegan nutrition who will be able to help you and clarify any doubts😊I hope I've been useful! Oh btw, if you have time take a look at these pages to fully understand veganism: facebook.com/challengespeciesism/ facebook.com/action.anti.speciesist/ facebook.com/brownfeministvegan/ facebook.com/vmbls/

I used to have an appetite that was never satisfied; whole foods cured it. I no longer use a sleep apnea machine. Finally, the food is cheap-Beans, lentils, rice, potatoes and seasonal apples. I am vegan for the animals. It was very easy for me to become vegan, and I am vegan for life. Falling off the wagon will only happen if my values fall off the wagon. I don’t see that happening ever. :)

For 1 billion dollars, would you eat red meat, poultry, or fish only 3 days a year? You could choose whichever 3 days of the year that you wanted, and you could choose whatever red meat, poultry, or fish you want. If you agreed to that deal, but there was 1 year where you went without eating those animal foods for 3 days, you would have to pay the 1 billion dollars back. You would also have to eat at least 16 ounces or 450 grams of whatever meat you choose for each day.

Honestly, I think more should be done by people to report harmful youtube videos. There are some videos on youtube that basically illicit death threats towards a group. KZfaq's policy on bullying and harrasment is pretty clear. If you feel there is a strong case to be made for someone's content. Anyone should make the effort to report that.

The carnivore diet thoo 😩😩. Seriously it's a thing. I've lost over 40 pounds in the past few months. We listen to a doctor called Ken Berry. (KenDBerryMd) It's where you can eat maybe veggies, but mostly proteins and dairy. (Not milk if you aren't a child)

The only reason I’m not going vegan because the vegan food looks gross, and my culture has tradition of eating meat, I honestly do not care if animals get killed, I just care how healthy with the proteins from the meat, and yea I eat salads with cheese in em.

GROSS TITLE! You're not worried about people going vegan, but HOW. Instead of putting down veganism, why don't you educate? I used to lecture about veganism in the NYC public school system, and would never tell people to not go vegan unless they do it how I say.

I am mostly vegan because I want to help animals. I understand why people to want to eat meat and come up with all these excuses, when really, it's just that they like the taste of meat so much, that they can't stop eating it. People don't understand that animals have feelings to just like us, I mean... you minus well just eat your dog or cat. Would you like to be slottered then eaten by a person that thinks wow this tastes so good I am going to eat so much more or maybe they think oh this is kind of disgusting I am just going to throw away an animal that suffered like it's nothing. This is getting really long but I just want to say 1 more thing. Eating animals is the same thing as eat a person that has feelings just like animals.

I’m sorry but you really need to wake up and realize that humans are animals, and animals eat other animals. It’s simply nature. No matter what, there will be death and suffering. You can’t go tell wolves and tigers to go vegan, can you?
