Wild Camping On A Deserted Island - In The Lake District UK

Hi Folks!
In this video I use my packraft to paddle to a tiny Island that I've wanted to camp on in the stunning Lake District for sometime. I was paddling into a head wind with light rain but nonetheless was extremely great fun.
On reaching the Island I conducted a quick recce and discovered that I had this amazing location all to myself. I located a great spot upon a small hill and enjoyed a well earned coffee and snack before setting up camp.
I cook up a nice steak, a couple of fried eggs and some bushcraft chips, all washed down with a cheeky dram or two while I chill out and enjoy the campfire.

Steak, eggs and chips for dinner. Sorted. Pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast. Luxury and not a ration pack in sight. It can be tough outdoors. lol.

Ha, ha cheers Les. Yeah I definitely managed to pack in a few luxuries on this one and loved it. I don't mind the odd mre style rations from time to time, for pure convenience. Just depends on what I'm doing really. Thanks for stopping by and the cool comment buddy, appreciated. Atb, J 👍

Love the video buddy, I recognised the lake as it looked the same when I went about 6 weeks ago, great place and it doesnt get overused due to access restrictions.... :) It just had more water in the lake when we went. We also woke to heavy winds but thankfully they were pushing us so not as bad.... :)

Cheers buddy. Yeah, it's a cracking spot for sure. The packraft makes the access loads easier 😀 I keep meaning to go back and explore the smaller Island. Reckon it would be ideal for a hammock camp. Take care and all the best, J 👍

Steak de bœuf, œufs et frites, you posh git lol. Who needs Le Train Bleu when you have a camp fire and a beauty of a spot like that. Props on carrying in the wood Jason, maintaining the bio-system and island habitat is really important and thanks to the stranger that left you a nice walled fire pit. Lovely.

Awesome Jason. You can't put a price on an night like that mate. All stars were aligned - I mean great conditions. The cooking was top notch to. I could taste it from here. Bushcraft chips? I'll have to give them a go. Well, just what the soul ordered. Good going. Mark

Cheers Jimmy 👍. It's a top location for sure. I counted around a dozen separate fire pits around the Island. Reckon it's proper mental in the summer months. I'll stick to visiting in the winter. Ah, mate, you’ve got me ready to head out on my kayak for an overnight. That post will be coming soon. I really feel for you in that pack raft. I’ve got a sit on top that weighs 40 pounds. I love it because it’s lite, and hate it because it has no rudder or fin. Makes it harder to paddle in poor conditions. Really liked this trip. Thanks for the post. Always enjoyable. Cheers.

Absolutely beautiful views Jason. Would love to come do a camp with you there so you can show me how you find these spots.. I think jay (Jacoby catapults) would like that too.. Nice food mate, doesn't need to look presentable, its bushcraft cooking mate as long as its edible.. Great little camp mate take care 👍🏻

Nice one Jason, steak, eggs, chips and pancakes for breakfast heh heh, that's the way to do it, in style. I love the lake district, how long does it take you to get there? It's a beautiful place, good score to have the island to yourself mate, I quite liked the firepit thatwas already there, was that a bushbox that wee twig stove, looked solid, cheers bud.

Hiya Chris, I do love a bit of campfire cooking but unfortunately I'm not the cook that you are mate but I do try 😜. It took me just under 3 and a half hours to get to this spot bud and worth every single minute. I was genuinely surprised to have the Island all to myself. A real privilege to be able to enjoy such a stunning location. Yeah, the bushbox is the bushcraft essentials LF. Take it on every camp. Highly recommended. Congratulations on reaching 500 Subs. Looked like a good camp that. How stable is you Pack Raft on choppy waters? I'm surprised by just how much kit you can carry in it considering you also took in your own firewood. I was drooling at your Bushcraft Chips especially considering that I tried heating a Flan in a Multi-cooker for my supper and it came out undercooked and soggy. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Cheers Robert 👍. Hopefully the subs will hold but you know what it's like for fluctuating especially when you hit a milestone. The raft is quite stable to be fair as it's got quite a wide surface area in contact with the water. As long as the weight is distributed as evenly as possible, then it holds up extremely well. My chips were a bit soggy mate but at least you know there well cooked, lol. Well take care mukka and hopefully I'll see you out experimenting with your next project soon. Atb, J 👍.
