Will A Stock HBX 901A Run 3S? Errrrrrr..... Did Get 76KPH Out Of It Eventually!

Hello KZfaq!
Today we answer the question no one is asking, can a stock HBX 901A ESC take 3S? Well in this case the answer is no! However we did get some positives from its demise. One: how tough HBX's are (transmissions especially). Two: my homemade fan and readiator worked a treat! Three: new speed PB for the channel of 47.1mph! Next up finding a longer straighter road and possibly fitting a larger pinion.

Even the stock moter at 3800 is pushing the limits of the esc on 3s but it handles it going up to a 5900kv moter has a bit to much resistance for 3s on 2s it would have done ok for awhile another way of maybe picking up some more speed is going down on kv & a bigger pinion but the moter mount doesn’t give u much room for improvement so really I think u did damn good with what meme

Could be the c rating on the 3s battery that may have overwhelmed the esc. Maybe a lower C rating on the stock electronics may have worked better. That other system hauled butt though. 47mph!!!😜 That’s crazy fast! Well done and great video my friend!💯👊🏼🔥

Hello! It's only 40C rating on the battery but I bet it's more than the stock 2S lipo it came with. To be honest I didn't think it would work at all so I wasn't expecting much. Yes it does go some now, I reckon 50mph easy with a decent straight road! 👍

How about putting a fan on it next time, the default ESC even overheats when putting slightly larger wheels on it, also the hbx fits a stock hbx wheely bar, something it needs when it has more grip. I also swapped out the esc just because the braking force of the stock ESC is to low.

I thought I'd try the larger radiator first and use the only spare fan I had for the motor. To be honest I was half expecting the stock ESC to die. As it ran pretty hot when the new motor was shoved up it! 😂👍
