“Well...it is a pen. I will give it that.” My exact thoughts on this. Mine leaks too.

I have a nearly identical pen that I bought for under $5 US. Mine doesn't leak, has an ebonite feed, and writes smoothly. A solid workhorse pen.

I have the 601a and it has the same nib. No leaks and it does have an ink window too. Looks very similar to the 233 but is a 'vacumatic' filler. I did do some smoothing on my nibs (I now have 2) and I really like them now. The cap is also different and doesn't have that snap to it. These were $21 CAD so for an extra $3 you could get the 601a and have a much better pen. Thanks for your review. I was curious about the 233 based on my experience with the 601a when I saw it had the same nib but now I know it's not really worth it.

I do have the same pen but an older version of it, mine has the the cap and the first half of the nib from the body is in gold colour. And it does not leak

I have the exact same leaking issue with a Lamy Linea, it always ends up with ink on the section because of the lid. I really like the look of those nibs but so far the reviews i've seen for various models with them are not stelar.

Parker 51 Aerometric Mark I Type 2, barrel with hole to make pen safer to fly with; Aerometric filler, if it has a breather tube, if no breather just a squeeze filler; Sheaffer Triumph Conical nib, used in several different Sheafer’s, Crest and Snorkel and probably others; and the Metal Sheaffer “Crest like” cap also used on other Sheaffers. No surprise the nib is a smooth reverse writer, my 40s era “Golden Brown striated Celluloid” writes like a dream in reverse -long sessions- nice F, much better for me than the normal wide and wet M. And mine has the signature Triumph, hardly noticeable “Waverlysque” upturn at the point, which Sheaffer used in other nibs after the Triumph. The conical nib Triumph was screw cap, no ink splatter there, the Parker 51 slip cap is legendary, no splatters there unless you drop the pen with cap on. Interesting side note: R. Binder in his profile of the Triumph and the conical nib talks about some legal conflict between Parker and Sheaffer during the early 40’s. Apparently the conical Triumph nib feed system is similar to collector, shell, and tubular nib system of the Parker 51, which is based on a patent which Parker had bought. A deal was struck and Sheaffer paid royalties to Parker. Thanks again for the review, though I think I’ll pass on the Wing Sung and stick with my 1940s Triumph and early 50s P51. Both are always inked and in nearly everyday use.

I think this pen has been around for a while. One of the earlier designs from wing sung and I have heard they are all prone to leaking. I think the 233, 235, 236 and 237 all have the same nib. And all seem to be scratchy.

I heard somewhere that the hole at the end of the barrel was to help prevent choking... which both makes sense, and doesn’t make sense, simultaneously...

It has the same nib (and feed) as the Wing Sung 601A. And that one does NOT leak... Much easier to clean too, compared to this one.

I have a $550 Ebonite Edison with the latest plunger loading thats a bear to use that always has ink on the section when uncapped.

I have to say I’m not a huge fan of Wing Sung. My first experience was to purchase a pretty brown 626 to use with your ink. But it was skippy, and burped at times (yes both of those things at once). When I looked at the tines under a loop, they went from spaced to touching down by the tip. You’re underling of “The End” followed by your negative comment was a great illustration of my experience with the more expensive 626 model. And the leaking you experienced..... FOOGEDABAT. IT!!!!!!

It was indeed useful, and has probably saved me money.

Silicone grease or shalac on the threads ! There are threads below the silver metal ring on the section ! My Wing Sung 233 fountain pens don't leak .

My WS 233 is a 12 dollar pen and it doesn't leak. Not a drop.

Seens equal to Hero 239 if I'm not wrong.

I have 4 of the Wing Sung 3008 models with the Lamy style extra fine nibs and they all leak and the nibs are all scratchy. If I put a Lamy nib on them they are decent writers but they are still a bit leaky. I will never buy Wing Sung again.

And the feed it’s not plastic...mine it’s a couple of years old, and about what’s look like...Well...How many years since the Parker 51? Nowadays Chinese manufacturers have been making beautiful ones(and originals too!) and they are the hope for affordable fountain pens for the not so rich, so...As they say in the States, Kudos to them! Bring in on!!

By the way, I bought a chunky sparkly mother-of-pearlish Jinhao a few years ago that looks quite Kung Fu and was under $20 US -- but then I wouldn't buy it now, as I don't like Chinese government boots on innocent people's necks.
