Being very attached to my long hair tuxedo, I was devastated when she passed. Started looking on petfinder for a shelter cat and found Duchess, almost identical to my Queenie. I called her my "clone kitty", I knew it wasn't the same cat but it helped to have a similar presence in my home. Much cheaper "clone", under a hundred bucks.

I thought this was a cool idea too until I read about all the sad things associated with cloning pets such as several deaths before a successful clone. Not worth it in my opinion.

Just get a new white fluffy cat from a shelter or pet care place. Plus, if she want to carry her legacy on, why not have a picture of her pet in a locket or necklace

I 100% agree with what PETA said. I had my first cat for eighteen years, got her when I was just a kid. You couldn't have been more devastated than I was - as an autistic person she was literally my only friend for most of that time. And I only had my second cat for five years before he died - two weeks to the day after my dad's funeral and from the same thing as my dad (colon cancer / intestinal cancer). But I would never have cloned them. Every pet that is cloned or intentionally bred to be sold is one less pet that gets taken home from a shelter, taken off the streets, or, worse case scenario, put down in a shelter to make room for others.

Unbelievable! With so many homeless animals these people should be ashamed!

We all miss our pets I still miss my dog that I had to put down. 4 plus years ago it’s tuff but I would rather adopt give a another animal a home!

No clones will be the same because it’s different souls. If u clone one person for example they won’t be entirely the same. Because the clone was givin a different soul when it was born or created

but I love it. if I had throw away money, not only would I have tons of rescue cats. because id be able to afford more than 1 cat 🐈 but me and my partners first, our baby girl who we found as an already neutered , catch and release stray?? I'd pay the money to essentially have a twin sister of her, who can then pass her beautiful genes on and have a lineage of cats with our family over the years 🥺😢

i miss my baby too much... if money wasn't an issue.. I'd give up so much to look at her again.... i know it's a touchy subject.. it will never be my baby but it will be as if it's her look-alike child

He sent me a sign and I followed it . I have Clover 🍀 now . Use every letter of Velcro and you get Clover

If I had the 25K, I wouldn't HESITATE to clone my dear kitty who died 6 months ago of FIP at age 3. She was with me long enough to love her, but died within days of diagnosis. Barely had time to process that she was dying, let alone be ready to let her go. Don't judge people who are grieving a loss. Just to be able to have a part of her to go on living is something that only the acutely-bereft understand. Of course the cloned kitty isn't exactly the same, but that confirms the nature vs nurture argument - our lives define us as much as our DNA. Bravo to Kelly for doing what her heart tells her to do - 25K is a serious dedication to love and science - and I hope she enjoys her new baby, doesn't listen to the trolls and naysayers, and continues to use her resources to help the less-fortunate cats of the world.
