I loved these puzzles as a kid. Always got to tick my older brother off because he could never figure them out, while I could get them in the first two to three tries. Good fun and good memories. Thanks for sharing.

I have just finished making the 12 burr puzzle. I have the 4 1/2 inch blanks cut for six more of them to give to my family for Christmas this year. I must admit I did everything with power tools: jointed a board square, and ripped three-quarter by three-quarter by 6 foot strips on the table saw. At this point I did use my 4 1/2 smoothing plane and 60 1/2 block plane for the faces and edges, so I get some hand-tool cred. Next I cross cut them all to 4 1/2 inch with my cross cut sled. I made the jig that’s described in the plans you provided, and cut all the dados with my dado head. I assembled the puzzle, and it wasn’t easy! All that’s left to do now is to break the corners at the ends, a little finish sanding, and an oil seal. Thank you very much for putting this up on your channel. I’m looking forward to setting up a little competition to see who can disassemble and assemble their 12 burr puzzle first on Christmas morning. I wish I knew how to post a photo here so I could show you my product.

That was a really cool simple project. Who said you can't accomplish a project in a day?... Along with that beautiful heart you made your wife... I was looking for more inspiration for Christmas presents for the little ones in my community here. I've been making wooden tray puzzles colored brightly for the underprivileged children. I think I will start these once I get done with the 300 I'm already making. Thank you James. I really appreciate what you do!
