Roy Keane would make an excellent Players Standards coach. What I mean by that is someone who specifically focuses on the players mentality and their standards. When Keane was captain at United, he was a hard man both on and off the pitch. He was in the same mind as the manager, high standards on and off the pitch. Keane is well know for his anger and hardness towards plays on the pitch, on the training ground and else where at the club. He was not afraid to hold back his views and opinions BUT what made Keane great is his passion and high standards of the game. As a pundit, one of the things he complains about most with his old club is the players, more so than the manager because he see's lack of passion, desire, movement and effort from many of the players, something as captain of the club during his day he would never allow. Keane as well as Paul Scholes have said time and time again that whilst as a player receiving a wage from the club, a player should put in 100% regardless of their issues with the club. If you have issues with the club you go see the manager, if the issues cannot be resolved you ask for a transfer BUT still giving 100%. Today's players do not do that and there is no way Keane would accept that.

It’s a no brainier, Roy’s exactly what united are missing, those players that go missing will have no where to go if Roy steps in as assistant manger.

I was laughing when I first thought about this idea but the more I think about it, the more upside I see to it. United needs structural change and to get rid of some of the dead weight they currently have. One way to do this is to put a manager in that has said that he doesn't rate these players. Fred, Maguire, Shaw etc might all want to leave if Keane was in charge. You would have to put a director of football in there with him though.

These United legends are so entitled they all think they can take a PL job, behave, just because you were good player doesn't mean you'll be a good manager, it's not all about shouting and passion merchants, that doesn't win you games in 2021.

I think Roy is a fantastic pundit and is a Man Utd legend. But as a manager, I'm not sure he's right for Utd. I have a feeling he'd suck the joy out of the locker room and the club.

There seems to be a big problem in the recruiting department - so many players fail to impress, despite their huge transfer, sign-on & agents fees. Look at the Man U defenders for one - Lindeloff & Maguire, plus all those right backs - even their big name England Internationals can be very spotty e.g. Shaw. Why such poor squad investment or is it the players are not prepared/coached optimally? Jose went in there and seemed to fall out with half the players. Even class players like Di Maria festered there. Is it the management layer, the pressure/mental stuff or just the rain?

Roy said its always the manager that gets it if players arent performing but if a player is playing badly they will get dropped far faster than a manager will... Plus if one or 2 players are underperforming, thats probably their individual issue, when you have 13 or 14 players underperforming, that indicates a management issue
