I’ve been a chef for 22 years. You all would be absolutely shocked by what goes on in “back of the house”. Servers will nibble off ur food. The “special” is usually something that should have been in the trash. If you order clams and mussels you’re freakin naive as u know what. The floors and countertops are disgusting. Cutting boards are not rotated enough so a cook may be seasoning raw chicken and turn around and portion a cooked steak on the same cutting board… cross contamination is rampant. Don’t ever order oysters in summertime cuz the waters where they are harvested are not cold enough to guard against bacteria also you think a $12 an hour shucker is gonna care if an oyster batch came in a week ago…. Or was that TWO weeks ago??? Even I know that health inspectors can be bought off and bribed. Seriously a whole documentary should be done about the food service industry so the public can be made more aware of what goes on not just at the Chinese buffet but almost every restaurant.

I agree, it's crazy how in some of these dirty dining things they will barge in or harass the employees and owner, and not leave when told too. I am kinda confused here, of course this place is disgusting, but it is blatantly obvious this camera crew broke many laws by entering through the back door of the facility. I cant believe the guy didnt call the cops and have them arrested and have them permanently trespassed from the property.

@QuIgYx Could you elaborate on 'fake' meat. B/c shopping in chinatown is a way different experience than your local shop.
@lbreezy44234 жыл бұрын
@QuIgYx Even if that was true. Every country has delicacies ie: jellyfish, blowfish, octopus, etc. Do you know what is in the fast food people eat everyday. Lookup ingredients of McDonald's milkshake vs a homemade milkshake. Heck, we have cricket farms to make into a sustainable food.
@lbreezy44234 жыл бұрын
@QuIgYx Do you have any proof/article/test that supports that. It is true that In China it was a thing b/c of the scarcity of food. Even if its true, it is unethical to say all Chinese restaurants. Also most american companies will follow the fda guidelines which may not require them to list certain things or mininal amount of feces or additives. Like some restaurants, cleaning may be lacking. American restaurants can get shut down for the same reasons as asian restaurants. This is why i think its unethical to spread unsubstantiated info

Florida advice: never, ever eat at restaurants like this. If it’s got a generic name (most of the time, a country or food followed by “buffet” or “restaurant”), is part of a mini strip mall with Spanish tiling, has few customers (only applies to sit-in restaurants) and has too much decor in the front windows. We have some great local food but you’ll want to find something in a more sleek part of town, usually near clothing stores or big-name restaurants.
@leelee1853 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately so many of these restaurants are not clean I enjoy Chinese food but I never order from the restaurants due to this reason. Also a lot of the Chinese restaurant workers don’t wear gloves while handling the food or hair nets. I buy frozen Asian food and I prepare it at home, I think that’s the best thing to do.

My last cooking job every night we dragged a hose into the kitchen and sprayed and scrubbed every surface at closing. Floors were disinfected, every single surface disinfected, walk-in was immaculate; the kitchen was like new before we went home. If any vegetable showed any signs of being dated, it would not be served. The same was expected every single day. That’s how every kitchen should be. I’ve worked in at least a dozen, and I’d say about half are dirty. It takes work and you have to have an owner that cares.

Open kitchens are usually clean as customers can see what’s going on in there. Some business owners really care about cleanliness and food safety. I’d say 50/50 chance a place is clean, you just gotta know where to go and what the staff and owners are like
