I did QiGong for a few years then yoga for a few years. I found yoga more physically challenging and being desk based yoga worked well for me. But I always fall back to QiGong when I need to reset mentally and need to refresh my energy levels. I’m just grateful to get the benefits of both. So I urge people to try both of them and decide and know that what you need may change back and forth.

I've been doing QiGong first, then yoga, before breakfast in the morning. I find the QiGong gently wakes up my body so it's ready for the deeper stretches of yoga.

In the yoga classes I teach I often add a Qi Gong segment to it. My students love it as it makes my class different from other yoga teachers. Also my students tend to be more retired people and they are more comfortable with Qi Gong.

Okay, my lovely dear friends, here's all that you actually and effectively need to know. ... .....Chinese Chigong/TCM easily incorporates and employs all other congenial energy healing modalities, purely simply.... All of my coaches, Masters and technique teachers all said quite calmly and casually.... ....《 Everything belongs to Qigong....》 All the other labels and names are simply a waste of time... Blessings and healings to all. ❤❤❤❤ Namaste, Shantih

I have practiced yoga off and on all my life. Now, being in my seventies, I switched completely to Qi Gong because I prefer its gentleness (just my choice, everybody is different).

Yes! I just realized about a year ago through dance class with certain yoga motions in warm up, how I've practiced yoga in relaxation mode like the qigong I've practiced for longer, which I now have to change! :-)

As a teacher of both, I absolutely agree with you Lee, yoga and qigong perfectly complement each other in many ways and are both endlessly fascinating. They both bring so many benefits to the body and mind and the wonderful thing is we can cultivate our practice to suit our needs 🌿😊🌿

If I were debating you, I would argue that yin yoga is different from yang yoga (what you seem to be describing). But I love to utilize both Qi Gong and yoga in my health practice. Good video though regardless, I gave a thumbs up.

Maestro much respect. I think you omitted the fact that in Yoga energy processes using chakras from base to crown and in TCM we bring energy of above & below into dan tien. I be sure to watch more of your videos. 7 years ago I practice 3 years of Tai Chi and wanted to teach but wasnt' meant to be. Today I have trouble even picking up the pieces due to the country I am in and general Covid era. This video has ignited my personal practice.

Proper Chi gung practice 'releases' the body to lengthen it rather than 'stretch'. Postures are not held static: the practitioner, is constantly and gently 'settling into' the posture. Deeper within chi gung is 'nei gung' practice, the natural connections of and energetic functions between all parts of the body. The nature of Mind is pure spaciousness. It is still, quiet and supports the radiance of life and for the ego, it 'senses and knows', spaciousness, energy and matter (body). Cool stuff! Forty -four years a practitioner. To what degree can you relax?

Qi gong, martial arts, medicine etc. all have their origin in India. It was the ancient sages who travelled across borders teaching and training people. These arts were adapted to the local needs and customs. For instance, bodhidharma ( Indian master) taught the martial arts to monks ( in china) to help them defend against thieves and dacoits in the jungles. These teachings gradually moved across to Japan, korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Suriname etc. Therefore it is easy to combine the current forms since they are have the same origin.

Correct what the "age" of current yoga concerns. Sivananda and especially asjtanga are quite recent. Throughout the vedas, for example, you will not find a single reference to Surya namaskar. At least not in terms of an exercise. It's very clear that it finds its origins in dand. As far as qigong goes, at least what we conceive of it, I think the earliest are the daoyin exercises. Still, I think one of the oldest exercises is what is known as zhan zhuang. Makes sense too, since Lucy didn't go to the gym but started to stand and walk.
