Season 17 : BREAKING NEWS!
Episode 02 : Ruby Franke
The channel 8 Passengers on KZfaq was your typical mommy vlog, showing how Ruby Franke took care of her growing family. Eventually, it became apparent that her style of discipline was more like abuse.

Agreed. Their daughter, when legal to flee, called child services and she was ignored. I think how laws are written in the State of Utah raises the legal bar for police and child services to intervene in families where abuse and neglect is present. Remember, Utah is the state that legalized Freerange Parenting - which degrades the standard of care the parent is required to provide to the bare minimum imo.

The young girl that was also locked in Jodi's house was so severely indoctrinated that it took police over 4 hours and 2 pizzas to get her out of the house. Ruby was evil LONG before she met Jodi. Ruby even fooled the prosecutor. Ruby even threw Russel under the bus in open court. That boy is a hero! The neighbor had more compassion for him than his mother ever did. I truly hope that BOTH women have to serve the full 30 year sentence and that Ruby NEVER gets access to those kids again. When anyone cries at something like this you can just see and feel their pain and how vile the situation is. And when a grown man cries, for me, it’s worse because a lot of the time men don’t show their emotions like that. This poor man and his wife witnessing this and seeing their responses is just awful. And this child who has been abused for a year or more is so polite and asks just for one favor. He’s so kind and strong yet he’s just been through hell. I wonder originally what his second favor was? I’m guessing food and water. Heartbreaking. I hope these kids get the help they need to get through this. The whole family, actually.

@@ReRe-kr1ht I’m not trying to be mean but “Siblings will be Siblings” is what my family told me when my siblings would harrass me, attack me, break my things, steal my money etc. Because their actions were left unchecked, my sibling tried to kill me, once by smothering me, once by drowning me, and one by beating me in the head. I have permanent trauma and brain damage from the last attack when I was 25 and moving out of the family home to get away from the abuse. The first relationship you have is your family, if you are raised to believe that harassing them is ok, you will eventually believe, to quote my sibling, “I can do whatever I want to you and no one is going to care. I can kill you and no one will care”. I assure you it is probably the reason why most monsters are created.

I can tell it's all an act and she's super friggin annoyed. Omg what these kids must went through... I will NEVER understand how a person can cause so much damage to another and think it's the right thing to do. And how they will believe it is the way to teach them right from wrong. Keep in mind people, the husband (Kevin Franke) is just as bad and neglectful as Ruby and Jodie are. Even before Jodie came to the picture, he straight up let all of the abuse happen and did NOTHING TO STOP IT THE WHOLE TIME. Not before Jodie and the divorce, not even after they got the sentences. Not to mention that after the sentence, he has THE AUDACITY to attempt to get his kids back after doing nothing to save them. He may be a victim as well in this case, but that doesn't mean hes a good guy and ESPECIALLY not a good father to those innocent kids

This one hit home hard. I lived with an abusive uncle for three years. We had no water or electricity. He would starve us out and make us dig outhouses and be slaves to his construction company as punishment. He was an abusive drunk who loved beating up children and weak people. When I first heard that old man on the 911 call, I could feel him breaking down, and it brought back all the trauma. It's okay. I was taught to embrace my demons instead of pretending they're not there. If you see something, say something. I could have ended all of that torture if I had said something. We were too afraid. I wish we would have.

Exactly, He put the oldest boy at the wilderness camp also. Kevin also didn't express anger at Ruby when you hear the jail phone calls. In fact I don't think he even asked much about them. He definitely knew what was going on. As for him not getting in touch with His kids for a year, he just didn't want the responsibility any more for taking care of them. It was like a vacation for him not to have to deal with the kids. He may blame it on being manipulated, but he definitely knew about Ruby's treatment of the kids and went along with it for years ,and when told to leave he was only thinking of himself. He should be in jail also. The police did drop the ball on following up with him.

Her self projection of how evil she is onto her children is profound. The fact several reports were ignored just enabled the bahviour and validated these monsters that what they were doing was ok. There needs to be strict monitoring of people who pull their kids out of school suddenly after a report and "homeschool" them. Its the most common tactic abusers use.
