For those interested in reading along with the original Hell’s Paradise manga, this episode adapted the remaining half of chapter 6, and all of chapters 7-9. The anime has now adapted up to the first 30% of tankōbon volume 2 of the manga.

i think eizen was given a faulty copy of his blade for this mission for his assassionation? am i correct? i think i have good guesses, he seemed surprised that his blade shattered into a million pieces on some dudes bare skin,

Yeah, that's hyperbolic to say all that. But to be fair, I can see the critique as far as Sagiri seeming too much as a liability like a damsel, especially strong *contrast* from her extreme competency shown on episode 1 that even gave Gabimaru fear. Given the outright dialogue about her feeling weak, I would assume that will be addressed story wise. So there should be development to come for that.

Hell's paradise is the Japanese version of the Journey West. Dragon Ball failed to follow the original story of Son Goku, traveling to the kingdom of heaven, seeking for the fruit that makes the elixir of immortality to become a god. In Hell's Paradise, they are traveling east because they are in Japan instead of China. They are basically going to Taiwan because of the two different religions coexisting together.
