The color will last best if painted on the right fabric (preferably high cotton content), allowed to dry completely, ironed on both sides, and washed inside out in the washing machine on a gentle cycle or by hand. This is the best way to preserve it. If one of these steps is not done properly, more wear can occur. The colors on my clothes have been preserved well. Those who haven't bothered to wash gently will have worn more.

The result may be slightly lighter than indicated on the package. If it suits, of course you can. If I were to paint myself, I wouldn't buy another pack because of it.

Paint can be felt according to what color it is. If they are painted with a color intended for light fabrics, they are generally not felt under the finger. They can certainly work if the fabric is cotton and absorbs the paint well. The marker should be of high quality. No doubt it's a big job. It is possible that there are better paints for painting silk and synthetics that are specifically designed for this purpose. My experience is that of the colors used in this test, Pebeo is the most suitable.

I have the simplest and most common iron. I think the simplest is quite enough. If you are involved in crafts in depth, you might need something more special, but for painting with textile paints, the simplest iron is enough. Three heat levels and the option to turn off the steaming function.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to try quite all color brands. I have heard that Jaquard colors are very good, but they are not imported to Estonia and ordering them is very expensive. Among the white colors that I have tried myself - Deka Perm Deck, Pebeo, Marabu and Kreul Javana seemed good. Dylon can also be good, but again it has not been available in Estonia. Cheap and fabric paints for children do not give very good results.

It did not leave a very strong smell. Maybe there was very little smell. It certainly depends on the specific paint and whether the instructions have been followed exactly. I have not heated other fabric paint products in the oven.

Friction and moisture generated during tumble drying is a problem. Friction is probably worse, yes. For example, in the washing machine, I always wash clothes painted with textile paints inside out and in a laundry bag, and the color will last as long as the life of the fabric. But laundry is put in the dryer without a laundry bag, and then nothing protects the color.

I have not used these specific colors myself. If they are acrylics, you can try them on a sample cloth and test whether they can withstand washing. The paint must be completely dry before ironing. For example, several days. I have had success painting with acrylics and heat setting, but acrylic paint with medium has given better results.
