Hey! wanted to ask about Slaves to Darkness 21:50 All Chaos Warriors from the box have to be with the shield in terms of their visual style. So if you want to make roster with paired weapons, it would be "proxy" models with shields?

I have this thing with DoK. I've always wanted to have them, and im not interested in AoS as a game, but having them for WC is a nice alternative. They may not be meta (and im not a tournament player)but they have lovely models. :)

Leave those poor Horns alone. They already received the nerf of not being supported anymore. 😢

The sylvaneth results don't surprise me as much. I am new to warcry and I have found sylvaneth a little difficult to rap my brain around. The combo of slower heavy hitters and squishy fast/useful fighters makes it a little hard to figure out how to play them optimally.

I ran pure Horns no allies at Gnarlwood 2, granted it was pre shattered change but being able to leverage activations and have numbers over a Titan piece I find works much better in the current scenario pack - post change I played very poorly at Gnarlwood 3 so I don’t have much data on that beyond I can’t roll over a two 😂

Hey, one of the "top-performing" Sylvaneth pilots here (the WarKraj 2024 list). I went 2-2 in the tournament, and from my experience in it, Sylvaneth are really swingy, in a way where the downward swing or a bad matchup can just make your game very difficult. I got two wins against KMK (100% winrate against the faction in the tournament), where I either got big swings out of the scythe Kurnoth, or was able to manipulate treasures around the map with my Tree Revs against a relatively slow band, and use the Kurnoths as very tanky roadblocks (big health pool + heal on doubles). For my first match, having one of the cheaper archers that are actually good in-faction with Althaen also helped - since it was about counting damage your fighters dealt, I was able to set up a quick advantage on low-toughness Monstakillaz models by taking the first round right away. The two losses I got were against the tournament-winning Horns (the usual) and Khorne Bloobound (reaver swarm). The former was simple - the nets wouldn't net. Yes, I made some other mistakes elsewhere in the game, but it was crucial to stop the Fomo Crusher in its tracks if I were to stand a chance of winning, since large health pools mean nothing to it, and my Spite Revs simply wouldn't cooperate. The Khorne matchup was on the worst possible scenario - it was about escaping the battlefield through portals on the opposite sides of the map. I think the key problem of building low unit count Sylvaneth rears its head here: they don't have any in-faction ways to make their key damage dealers more efficient (like how every Questor has bonus move/attack on a double after a kill). I can cut down a Reaver or two in a single activation of a Kurnoth if the positioning is right, but that leaves the remaining 10 to handle - and by the time I even get to any setups on allies, my opponent already scored multiple units by removing them from the battlefield.

Just because it came up in the discussion, I thought it might be useful - my round 2 where i got a lot of kill points was a beastflayers mirror match. Its also where i got over half of my total kill points for the tournament - my total kill points looks unexceptional but its massively skewed between ome game of 900-odd points killed and the others where i was nearer 300 points fairly consistently. Aside from that game my list was all about chasing VP and just a few timed and targeted kills. But beastflayers thrive on being the biggest warband, they hate being outnumbered, and theyre really quite good at killing each other, so going into the mirror match with more bodies and a more max/min style of list it was a completely different shape of game to all the others. If i had got more average kill points in that game I think i would have been 3rd bottom in terms of kill points

7.55 - there were two RBF players. Which also means that at 9.36 I don't think the conclusion about VP is necessarily correct - I think you may have got the highest VP but a couple of people got over 40 and therefore came between you and Charles.

Recently got back into Warcry after only playing one game with the original box set years ago. I took one look at Khorne Daemons and my first thought was “These are all so expensive for their stats”. They should all be buffed to strength 5 I think. And/or given some better crit chance mechanic.

Super nice format with before and after interviews. Cool to hear people's plans with their warbands, and then hear how it worked out in practice.

Hobbies and being a Dad. My kids are now 29 and 25 so this is definitely a rear view mirror thing for me. My approach was as follows: Try to get to the club no more than 3 weeks in 4 and negotiate this well in advance with your partner. Painting during my partner’s events; ie when I’m babysitting because my partner’s out then this is prime painting time. Support your partner in their hobbies. It’s much easier to go to weekend event if you’ve already covered your partner’s weekend event. If you give before you take your hobby time will be easier to secure. Oh and family 1st, partner 2nd and hobby 3rd is a great approach to getting good quality hobby time.
