STL files are basically worthless in MCam and more so in other CAD/CAM programs (including Solidworks). They take a lot of time to generate and are a "generic representation" of what the stock looks like. I've yet to see one instance where when I generated an STL for another operation and the approach points etc. automatically detect that it's off by upwards of approximately .010". Looks great on our screen, but throws off the machinists when they see an approach of "1.9912". It's frankly a "stock stupid " system. MCam is so overpriced for what it is and it's gotten WAY worse as of late, to the point we're looking for something else.

I checked the engineering designs made by ai looks pretty cool, its gets a new perspective on things, a chair is a good example, is a chair really the best way to seat? What an ai can do to improve some common designs so we don't need to try many variants of the same things...Ai seems good on patter recognitions, but still need a human to tell them if its correct or not.

I have been taking these courses for about a month and I want to punch the instructor in the face. First, the word is pronounced "Lie-brair-ee" not "Lie-berry". You are an educated man. Conduct yourself accordingly. That is driving me and everyone that hears it, nuts. Second, your organization is terrible. If you are going to refer to material, then have the downloaded material first so we we can download and see what you are talking about as you speak, instead of having four videos on a topic, THEN give us the download you have been referring to for four videos. This happens on every single lesson. I get stuck, because you speak as though we know what you are talking about, and you gloss over any potential mistakes and how to fix them, so it takes me hours to go through videos on KZfaq, (where the people don't speak English) to figure out the info YOU left out. You little mistake wreaks havoc, and you act as though no issues can arise. I feel like you do this intentionally so we have to pay more to talk to an instructor (which will take days to get back to me). You digress WAY TOO MUCH. You don't explain why you do certain things. You tell us we need something, we have to stop, and figure out what you are talking about. You gloss over things you perceive as simple. The downloading of the Solidworks file. You claim there is a link. There is no link. You have to click on another lesson to find it. Which you don't explain. I am getting very frustrated with your inability to properly teach new students on a complicated subject, or even simple commands like where to get a download. Everything you have done has come out with some issues. I have watched over and over again, watched other videos, just to discover you left out info, or glanced over something important, and it causes major issues and frustration.

Output from chatgpt is nothing but a plagiarized version of gcode(it is a known fact gpt, does not have the intelligence to deciper the meaning of *anything* it spits out), from the available public domain sources. I would not want to waste my expensive material with a gcode which cannot be guaranteed to work perfectly. I am perfectly fine with current CAD software, that do an intelligent translation.😂❤👍

It will most likely run, how well it runs depends on what you are doing. Internal graphics processors are not officially supported by Mastercam.

I'm self-taught in CAD/CAM and being able to understand G-Code in general. That might sound more positive than it really is. I learned enough to be able to use my CNC mill and lathe with good results. When I retired, I sold off my machines thinking I would have no further use for them. Now I'm wishing I'd never sold them because being retired has given me way more free time to work on my own projects and ideas, now that I no longer have my CNC equipment to work with. I've been thinking of buying another smaller CNC mill to keep in my home shop. The problem is that I've forgotten alot of what I learned about CNC machining and G-Code. It would be awesome to have some sort of AI assistant to help get me back on track with what I used to know about CNC machining. How far away are we from having an AI type of assistant with the ability to minimize the shortcomings you pointed out in your video? Also, with advances in this AI technology specifically meant as a tool for aiding in CNC machining, I suppose we can expect for this to come with a price tag that will go higher and higher before it becomes common place and the price starts to come down again. What kind of prices do you expect for the inevitable better quality CNC oriented AI systems?

Great explanation! I jus started as a CAM programmer (Hypermill) for turning and milling but I have no CNC experience in practice and no CAM experience. So I'm digging through the manuals of the Okuma lathes for starters (there is the most need in the turning department) and understanding offsets is a vital aspect. In fact the big Okuma has a VDI QC tool holder system and yet they have used the 'master tool' system which is not very smart. Working from a fixed tool holder interface is the way to go. You point out that probes have a known length, the same must go for lathe probe arm systems. I have been looking at some Haas videos on their probe arm system. I have yet to understand fully how it is calibrated and which offset numbers are put into the offset table.
