Awesome idea to potentially open up the engine regulations. If they do open up, we would definitely be interested in making F1 engines!

In regards to the lack of on track action with F1 I have two views: 1. Not every race has to be the greatest thing ever. The reason the best races are remembered and long time fans have their favourites is because they stand out. This applies to ALL racing series' and championships. 2. Another thing that applies to all championships and series' is a generalised rule that up to a point is true. More cars on track = more fun. You let teams like andretti show up as the 21st and 22nd cars on the grid you are simply increasing the probability of on track action happening. So on that front the teams need to wind their necks in and let other people come and play in their special little championship.

Not even 2026, but we’re talking about 2030….😂 thank god there UFC. Cant believe I used to travel to watch F1 live, I feel bad that Europe doesn’t have a similar combat sport organisation. Mostly team sports which isn’t fair to the athletes.

How about a 'no holds barred', build any engine & gearbox combo, normally aspirated, turbocharged, hybrid, a bit of all, something new. But, you are only allowed £100 million to develop it and £20 million a year to upgrade etc. You could dictate what fuel is to be run, and how much, to promote sustainability and then let the engineers get on with it. V4's, V12's, V2 charging an electric engine, let's see what would happen.

The cars need to be shorter, thinner, louder and slower. I’m an F1 fan since the 80’s, but this year I have only watched the Miami race and that was only because I heard Lando won, and I watched it the following day on sky plus. F1 is so boring and more like a soap opera than a sporting event. I spend all my time with WEC IMSA BTCC and Indycar, where you get actual racing.

I remember when old v10 engines were relevant on road cars. Nothing like the age of v10 18krpm road cars with pneumatic valve and awesome sound. /s

You know what else is irrelevant to road cars? AERO! Have you seen how much indy cars move around when racing on road circuits. Drivers sawing at the wheel sliding and hanging on to the power coming out of a corner. And closer racing! The engine chat is slightly boring to me personally, aero is whats killing it for me.

So Damon Hill took it Shumacher in a death trap which you could tell it was a nervous car the whole season as well as the 1995 car for that matter he was also like 10 years older which we know now has a big affect started way later … how awesome was Hill really then massively underrated I could too he was being nice to Prost in 1993 as he was being a gentleman to the agreement do not challenge Prost fair to Prost he was ready for retirement.

But this rule need to be used consistently. Interresting fact: in F1 there are no rules Safety Car should come ahead of first place, they can come out to any position, it's just they used it that way and everybody expects it for the next instances

Great Chicago just what we need more street races 🤮. There should only be one Monaco but thats just purely for historic reasons. Even tho to make that viable and the racing better the cars need to be a lot smaller again.

A 90 deg. V6 like was used in the 6R4 makes a fantastic noise, due no doubt to it’s slightly offset firing order.

I think it's a bit misleading to say that Ferrari "took a BoP hit" after Imola. As far as I know BoP is not the same thing as success ballast and it's not a reactionary measure, or a penalty.

One thought on this, is to put F1 at the front of carbon neutral fuels, be they synthetic or bio waste. You have a 1.6 litre forced induction limit and a 3.5 litre normally aspirated limit but the rest is open other than your fuel is audited to be carbon neutral and other environmental factors like not using land that could be used for growing food or damaging water sources. Thus manufacturers are free to balance weight of kers systems with weight of fuel etc etc, F1 is at the forefront of keeping the ICE relevant in a carbon neutral world and we get to keep the iconic ICE engine both in F1, but also in high performance road cars and super bikes.

It is an absurd decision as the V8 will be virtually if not actually extinct as a road legal power unit, which means F1 can nolonger promote itself as being at the pinnacle of automotive technology and so will nolonger be F1.

Talking about "the car has to get around the corner without crashing" (in the context of a hopefully-smaller, hopefully-lighter car) made me think of another problem that prevents us from having the eye-watering change of direction we're really looking for: Pirellis WILL NOT hold up to the kind of abuse that a mid-2000s Michelin or Bridgestone could. They're purposely built to die in agony under those conditions. Interestingly enough, as long as people have been crying about the hybrids, I've been crying about the Pirellis. There are actual reasons to whine about F1, yet the people at the top are just interested in aesthetics... AGAIN.

F1 could run 2 stroke/rotary engines on hydrogen/alcohol/synthetic fuel easily. The 2026 regs are pretty tame. I think its natural with the move to electrification that F1 leans more heavily on entertainment than road relevance.

It was the right decision, especially for the fans. There are other comments about traffic problems getting into the track which caused people to miss the start. Combine that with disappointment of going home unfulfilled If the race had been terminated without a green flag finish and a good number of people would not have returned next year.

regs similar to wec hypercars engine rules would be perfect, that way we could finally see and hear some variety in the engines on the grid. if i was guessing v8s would be the default choice for most engine supplies, however id like to see what they would come up with without strict limitations. looking at wec each cars has its own character but as far as ive seen the most popular for the noise is the big cadillac, that v8 is sensational. the only car that sound wise could rival it is the aston martin valkyrie coming next year. the peugeot seems quite popular too because of how differernt it looks to the others.

Sorry but the V6 turbo hybrid era was a complete failure and waste of billions... Taking all development and maintenance into account it was probably more wasteful and environmentally damaging.
