11:19 since this system uses ‘wounds’ don’t worry about low HP on a low roll from a d6. Inventory management is a part of the game. Downloaded and skimmed these. Pretty underwhelming in all aspects. Mongoose remains the gold standard for Conan RPGs. Before the announcement by Monolith I was hoping Goodman Games would get the license and we'd have Conan for DCC. But alas, we just get this drek, complete with trigger warnings no less.

I wish I knew about this game earlier because it looks like what I would use to play a certain flavor of comic book heroes with anyone from modern gamers, to the group of grognards that adopted me. The flavor that is Captain America, or Justice Society, The Shadow, etc. Not 5E Justice League.

With d&d in creative commons was this even needed? I didn't back, as I have almost everything they produce for c&c and was just getting people into it. So if its just renaming magic middle to magic bolt I might just be out as any new player would have different terminology.

I compared the PDFs and found the pages that varies. Rogue ends on page 73 in the 8th printing but ends on page 74 in the 10th printing. This appears because there is an added image of a rogue that does not appear in the previous version. I think the image is a great addition by the way.

Nice collection. I had a first run of the original paperbacks but they were sadly destroyed along with the majority of my original collection by a basement flood. I've since bought the black leather bound reprinted collection.

I believe that Gencon did not give the Crit-Awards the boot because it was the right thing to do. I believe that GenCon had to. There are 38 states that has some form of State Anti-BDS Legislation. Indiana BDS bill passed in a 47-3 vote, the State Senate approved anti-BDS legislation on March 1, 2016. The House approved the legislation in January 2017. The law requires mandatory state divestment from any company that participates in, "the promotion of activities to boycott, divest from, or sanction Israel,” including “territories controlled by the Jewish State of Israel.” The Indiana Convention Center is owned by the state. I'm glad they got kicked out. No place for crap like the Crit-Awards.

I just backed it at the $175 level. Only downside now is I'll have to wait till Dec 2024 for all that goodness. Already have all the C&C rule books or reprints (many, many times over) -- just backed it to support them. You've made a really good point on the C&C Whitebox (which I never thought of before) -- that it's kind of like a Beginner Box or Starter Set -- and even though they give away the 7th print of the PHB for free -- I really wish they would do a starter set. btw: Thanks to you I did buy the C&C white box (as a PDF) from DriveThru -- you are totally right it is simpler than the hardback rules -- although C&C is still a super simple game.

I was a 2nd ed and 3rd ed player, but as young black kids (boys and girls) we had to search out African history (yes, the continent is rich in history) to homebrew stuff until Nyambe came along. I knew such content wasn't intentionally left out, but still, it didn't exist for a long time. We knew the original creators didn't have us in mind, but that was ok. What does concern me is the pushback on inclusion I've been seeing since inclusion became a thing.

Why is ShadowDark RPG "the true Champion of 2023/24 as far as ORS-centric games are concerned?" It's a good name. I will give you that. I am sure everyone says this about their OSE/OSR spin-off. Like the look of this. Nice and simple to fit the pulpy feel and attribute driven which appeals to my OSR sensibilities. They really should rename skills to just Talents though, based on this quick start. Will be keeping an eye on it.

Page 6 makes me worry that the game proper will have safety tools.

I used to roll dice behind the DM screen just to make noise, and later faking I took notes. Just for the lulz.

Thanks Unscripted & Unchained!! Wasn't aware of this game. I'm also a big fan of Conan -- probably not as much of a fan as you are -- but Conan is fantastic. Fond memories of playing the Conan RPG from TSR (circa 1984). Good to see someone else taking over the Conan TTRPG mantle. May have to back this!!
