The failure to keep AI active in the Imperium has done a lot to reduce the combat ability of the imperium. One story with an AI ship that was boarded by a space marine squad with terminator armor did not go well, the AI was intellectually more capable than the " hero " marine and won the discussion at the same time it was disintegrating the terminator equipped marines one by one. The poor marines could do no damage to the ships interior at all. Just think what the imperial forces could do to the orks etc with ai driven ships and weapons etc.

Love your video as always! I think the fact you can find a unique tangent or viewpoint on a subject is really fantastic and frankly needed in this space! You’re 100% right about Paul. Herbert explicitly wrote him to not be a good person. He wrote Messiah because people didn’t get it and thought he was an archetypical hero…….except when you get to God Emperor of Dune and it turns out that it had to happen, and his son had to become far far worse than him otherwise humanity would have become extinct. And maybe this is like that. This is the only way he could save humanity from extinction, from Xenos, from Chaos, from The Dark King. In the end Paul’s son spends thousands of years getting people to worship him as a god, only then to engineer a situation where he gets rejected and from that humanity can’t be controlled again.

What gets me is over the thousands of years humanity has ceased to try and develop a faster than light drive. Never hear about even the effort in ANY book. The Necrons have achieved a form of it, so its attainable. Its another reason i have lost more respect for humanity in this series.

Interseting weapon, but looking at whats carrying them, they would have an ammo supply issue, also with the rate of fire the barrel wear and overheating would most likely reduce the fire rate or cause long periods of waiting for the barrels to cool down.

Paraphrasing Andy Law, who wrote for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, the only thing that GW itself considers canon are current edition codices (or equivalents outside 40k) and campaign supplements. Previous editions, Black Library, and everything else are irrelevant if contradicted by the current iteration of the main game.

I feel like the emporer is in a way simikar to makima from CSM. He is the chaos god of something along the lines of entropy/control/chaotic uniformity. I beleive his betrayl of the other gods was using humanity as his perpetual vessels towards his god-trait of conquest/entropy rather than leading them to lust, conflict, decay or random change. His story is similar to slanesh in terms of a mass set of actions birthing him, his dominion over a set of emotions is simikar to all other chaos gods, his ability to " corrupt " or more so influence is the same, etc. All in all, it seems like humanity was his most solid chance at getting to control a faction all to himself, then weakening the other gods via his conquest.

Honestly i think mascarading as a low level pilgrim, spreading word of the most well known imperial victories, would be your best bet.

Gosh the comments here are bleak... I can't believe there's so much misogyny and childishness in a community I love. I'm actually one of the few people who thinks GW did the right thing, and handled it correctly. This is only a "big deal" in the lore, requiring loads of fanfare, if you think of women as an entirely different thing to men, rather than just more humans who have slightly different physical characteristics. People wouldn't be freaking out over the first red-haired custodian, or the tallest custodian they've ever written about, or the youngest custodian they've ever written about - those features of their character would simply be mentioned along with other descriptors while introducing the character. You only need to make a big deal out of this if you think that the differences between men and women are also a big deal - and they're not. We all have two arms, two legs, and a head, and by far the biggest differences between us are sociological. This would be so much worse if GW had done a grand unveiling, with a new model line, a new novel, and other collateral all to introduce this new custodian because "they're a woman!!!!". Of course this is a "so what?" introduction, in exactly the same way as it would be if they had just mentioned a custodian named Trevor for the first time - so what? Their name, their gender, their hair colour, etc., are rarely defining features of a character, they're incidental, and deserve to be treated as such.
