Great videos... now just gotta do another video on the plumbing 😅 I wanna know if you have a mixer setup for shower or if you just have the temp set for ideal shower temperature. If you have a mixer, is it one pump from the tank, then teed off to feed the water heater and straight to cold taps? So one water pump to supply your whole system?
@berko795 күн бұрын
Thats correct, I have both hot and cold and mix. Yes the piping is like you mentioned with the hot water supply t'd off the cold line. The one thing you do need to do is put a one way valve just before the heater to stop the hot water flowing backwards into the cold pipe.

It’s been a while since you did this, but from my experience with the same type of van with the vinyl stone guard on the front is watch that like a hawk man. As soon as it gets a hole in it get rid of it. There’s padding under it that will wick moisture and it will find its way behind the metal into the wood frame. As the vinyl ages it will pull away from the sealing compound on it and again moisture will get in. I’d replace the front where the vinyl is with checker plate. And the best stuff I’ve found to sealing edges, j mould, etc is bostik v4. Pure silicone that has huge flex and as it’s not an adhesive if you want to remove the j mould for maintenance reasons it’s a whole lot easier.

Not with the controllers that come with them. They will switch off automatically if they dont get hot. Something like afterburner might be able to just trigger the fan.

Thanks for that. My rotary controller only works on heaters with '6 blade' controllers (not on the ones that use the newer '3 blade' controller). Or to be more exact, it works on heaters that have a motherboard that work with 6 blade controllers. I bought the rotary controller as a spare in case the LCD controller fails. It flashes when there's an error, e.g. 7 lights flashing means error 07. I would use it if it had remote control as well.

Great video! Its all new to me, just installed my heater in the workshop tonight, as far as i understand when you turn the wheel on your controller it just adjusts the fan speed? What about the temperature? Thanks
@berko794 ай бұрын
Yeah you are correct it adjusts the fan speed. The interesting bit about how they work is the fan speed is not just for the hot air it puts out which warms us up. The fan speed is also for how much air it pushes into the combustion chamber and in turn how much fuel gets injected (more air more fuel = more heat). So yes the temperature/amount of hot air produced goes up with the fan speed.

Hi Mate, I just did the negative so I could locate my switch somewhere handy without running two sets of positive. You can mount it anywhere on the small wires as it just needs to break the circuit. So positive or negative just go with whatever suits your situation better

@berko796 ай бұрын
Yes you can just write a switch on the power or ground wire. You will still need to power it off using the controller as it goes through a routine which cools the heater down (basically runs is with just the fan on for a few minutes until it's a safe temperature)

@@richardd8352 should be zero drain if you switch the negative. The biggest drain on the heaters is the startup when there for plug is heated which is about 15 amps at 12v. Once the heater is running it drops to a very small draw on the battery.

SORRY cuz I'm pretty sure you posted this but my head is spinning from looking into this subject... please point to guidance on how to use CO tester or other tools to determine good fuel mix. SORRY I found answers to all that follows comments below -- RIF... My controller that looks identical has an Alpine mode, which slows pump to make fuel-air mix leaner, but no explicit control over pump rate in Hz, nor means to control rate and fan speed rate range. It expresses "manual mode" as fixed heat levels H1, H2, ..., not in Hz. Please post video as my control does not seem to suit severe elevation changes.
