Are there any issues using silent shutter and photographing birds? I have it on my Z 5 too. I have used it with bird photography when I'm close to the bird spot.

I don’t know because I don’t use my reading glasses when I looked through the EVF. The EVF and the rear screen are definitely the weakest parts of this camera in my opinion.

Quick question Phil: In this instance, with the focal plane kind of being the same as opposed to say, a flower slanted away from or towards the camera, do you think f/8,9,or 10 would've given you a pretty sharp image as if you focus stacked? Probably not huh? (I pulled the trigger on upgrading from the EOS R to the R5, it should be here in about a week.)
@PhilThachКүн бұрын
Yes, in this example, I didn’t really present a difficult stack. And a small aperture could have gotten pretty close. I have a couple of other videos that show a much more difficult example. I think the original R5 will do focus bracketing, but it does not make a depth composite in camera. you can use the individual files to your own in third-party software.
@TC_ConnerКүн бұрын
@@PhilThach I'm relatively new to focus stacking/bracketing, what is a "depth composite in camera?" I use ACR and Photoshop for all my image editing.

I was impressed with what looks like an auto-focus that works. I've not had good luck with the auto focus on my Z50. Is this lens the reason why your photos came out so good? I have a Nikon kit zoom that came with my Z50 and when I tried to shoot photos of one of my grand kids soccer matches I was shocked at how bad the auto focus was. I missed a lot of good shots. My lens is a Nikkor DX 50-250 4.5-6.3.
@PhilThach2 күн бұрын
For birds in flight or sports I recommend Auto focus, continuous and wide area small for the focus mode, you can get surprisingly good results with those settings. The 50-250 is a decent lens, but it doesn’t have the fastest auto focus in the world, so if the youngsters are running right toward you, you might have some misses.

Hi, Phil I'm new to the R10, and when I look through the viewfinder at a stationary subject and utilize back button focusing, ripping off a few continuous shots, the focus point (set at "one point") keeps wandering about as connected or singular red squares - what the heck is happening? BTW, camera is handheld, but taking the same picture in manual mode is perfect, while AF photos are just a bit blurry. Many thanks for your anticipated response.

I appreciate this presentation but to be honest it was more of an advert for the product than a review. I would’ve liked to know: the weight, how many knob turns to lock-in and lock-out, what are the guts/friction or gear mechanisms made of, is the base plate threading a metal insert or just plastic?, and so on and so forth. I regret pointing out you just didn’t provide sufficient information for us to decide about the product, you were just a mouthpiece for the manufacturer.

Thank you very much for this convincing presentation. I'm toying with the idea of buying this 3-way geared head. I would like to use it for macrophotography together with the weMacro Slider for focus stacking shots. I have a question about this: The slider has an Arcaswiss profile on the underside. Is it possible to mount the slider rotated by 90° on the 3-way geared head? Will that work?
@PhilThach4 күн бұрын
I’m pretty sure you have to put the arca Swiss plate on the gear head in only one direction or two if you count exactly backwards. But, you can just turn the tripod or the tripod head 90° to achieve the same result.
