This is great. I got in self taught and this really points out some of my weak points (hash tables and algorithms and noSQL databases among others)

for anyone who is watching. I just landed an internship in nyc for 35 $ as an IT intern. and I thought I will be getting 20 $ max. my advice , work on your projects and resume. keep taking courses and list them on your resume such as coursera and anything else ( it shows that you re grinding and trying harder). I applied for over 200 internship and junior roles. I have been rejected in 99% of them. so keep applying, keep grinding and it will happen eventually!. small advice , be professional in the way you dress and talk. questions at the end of the interview is a must so prepare good questions. Cover letters are a must when you apply. send a thank you follow up email after the interview (with the big boss). if they ask you for any tasks, do them without thinking. you never know what will u be offered! and btw I had an interview the week before that with Paramount which I thought I passed and they never even responded back. same week I got an email from a different company and started the interview process and I got an offer which was very generous maybe more than what I was gonna get from Paramount ! keep grinding people !

Great and candid tips! I can't stress the importance of networking to land a role at Microsoft - it's probably the most effective unofficial way to get in.

There will always be top income for the best of the best. But unless you get into the top companies you will only dream about this kind of money. Coding, software engineering and DevOps is a commodity these days and tightly controlled by management. Top guys like this one could not perform even close to their current level at most companies I have been to. As an example, a project could be to write a web-frontend for a non-trivial in-house business app with 7 imbeciles and incompetent management, being forbidden to automate frontend tests and talking to domain experts, having to use a frontend framework by someone complety incompetent. Pay can be well but in the end it doesn’t move your career at all. The goal for young devs should be to get into a top company like Amazon, Google or Facebook by 28, grind 10 years, make an impact and move up the ladder. Everything else will get you nowhere financially and career wise these days. There is just too many people in the field that push down prices.

Wrong conclusion. Your entire generation needs to buy houses - individuaññy - and stop taking jobs that offer you less than you need to pay your bills and save. Stop taking low ball offers and have some self respect. You are engineers for God’s sake. In 2024, mid level engineer should take no less than 250k, unless your doing php or something. Mid level bro. You guys accept low rates and companies are happy to exploit that. Just say no - this is what i need to make to have a lifestyle becoming of an engineer with years invested in the art. Problem is cultural - not ecomomic - they have the money. 😂

Why do you think senior developers have been hired? Most people complain about being ghosted by companies. I do see job posts, not people being hired. Look at 100 applicants for each opening. It is only because LinkedIn set max at 100.

Today you're still unemployed, your LinkedIn account is abandoned after Bolt layout. More than 100 interviews in 50 tech companies with zero result for a person keeping track on every single interview question and filming YT videos? Isn't it a rock bottom? Did you guys over complicate these questions or am I just really prepared for interview? lol Isn’t Q2 just a num islands question easily solved with a dfs, flipping visited ‘cloud’ cells to ‘inf’? Cant Q3 simply be solved by iterating the input, pushing the cmds and numbers onto a stack, when the last 2 Val’s on the stack are nums, pop 3 times, compute and add back to stack? Cant Q3 be solved with a maxheap and list in your ‘stack’ class?
