You really managed to put the sandals workers at shame with your safety gear. And matching technique for disassembling the struts and springs.

Also, I am a disabled veteran. I have been able to utilize my medically retired time (which would have been a very boring life) by becoming a Gravely enthusiast and making a hobby of it. I am a auto mechanic by trade, and I was a tank mechanic in the military, but because of my disabilities, I had to downgrade my hobby to something smaller in order to continue maintaining an interest in meachanics. If you haven't already, I'd like to invite you to join GTCOA. You would be of great assistance to the group, just as it has been to you. Welcome to the world of Gravely. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.

As long as you're building something! I'm glad you're able to have a hobby you enjoy despite your limitations, all about perseverance! I was familiar with GTCOA through the website, but I wasn't aware of an actual, active organization. I haven't messed with Gravelys much since this project (mostly because it just hasn't broken yet, haha) but I'd love to be a part of the community.

Beautiful workmanship. I know this video is a year or so old. That being said, I hope you see my comment because I have a need to know. On your fast time segments, I noticed while you were cleaning and painting the various parts and wheels that you were doing something with the torch. Would you please explain what you were doing with the torch? Also, what was the purpose of "burning" the underside of the deck, and what flammable liquid did you use?
@bakedbeansgarage116
@bakedbeansgarage116 5 күн бұрын
Thanks, man! I heat the parts with the torch to sweat out any moisture and open up the pores, it just gives better adhesion. I was cleaning the deck with brakekleen and figured I'd just light it to get some heat into the metal before I painted it.

I also own RWD volvo 940 in South Korea. I also changed those chrome strips on the rear door and also bent the strips (2 in total😂) And I also ripped off that small weatherstrip and got so annoyed and had to find another donor car(960) and got that whole pillar changed. Apparently without removing the pillar and fixed glass its almost impossible to change those chrome strips without bending. I had to get the glass off just to change that strip perfectly without any dents. Anyway saw the whole video and enjoyed so much since most of the jobs were so relateable. I also saw your subwoofer install video on the 740. But my 940 seems to doesnt have that harness hole..? Maybe I wasnt able to see it since it was dark.

@@bakedbeansgarage116 it is crazy because of the way the engine works, you don't get that immediate torque like you do with a diesel.

I have few observations to add: 1. When you are changing controll arm bushings (the bigger/rear type) it's adviced to use audi tt / golf 4 r32 ones. They do not require centering sleeves, are firmer, last longer and cost almost exactly the same. 2. When using aftermarket coilovers I recomend changing upper mounts to golf 3 gti style. There is inherent problem with using mk2 ones. The shock's strut can brake bearing race beacause its the only thing holding it. Also mk3gti ones last way longer. 3. I do find it amusing when you told about rear suspension mounts almost never mounted right. Especially when you discover two of them mounted right (35:06) just to mount both of hem wrong. There is a schematic available online - just google "7zap vw" and search for make and model for your car. 4. Control arm bolts (1:06:26) - longer one goes to front, shorter to rear. You can check it using schematic on 7zap. 5. Heatshrink tubing trick on sway bar is perfect. I am using it for quite some time. Another place you can use it is on door lock's latches (striker pins). Anyway Sub earned ;-)

When i put a 02A on my mtdi mk2 it also hit the gearbox mount when turning, so i bought a Passat B3 front engine mount from poland dirt cheap. Interestingly a couple of days later i browsed the local junkyard and hey a B3 so i ended up having two :P And it sure fixed the issue. You can actually make a diy short shifter for the 02J shift tower smiths euro shows it. I did it and it reduced the forward and backward travel about 3 cm each way so 6 cm ish in total from third to fourth

I'm having positive crank case pressure on my 2010 mercedes e class.. it is really noticeable because I believe it is also the cause of a choppy/incosistent idle (almost feels like misfires). Nobody seems to know where its coming from and there's no codes. I was wondering if I can fit something like this on my vehicle?

That's really tough to say. This was shot over 4ish months between other projects and parts of the rebuild (hence the weird continuity). Just the stuff I did on camera was probably around ¿150 hours? That's a very rough guess though. Thank you for your support!

Was waiting for the next video in this series! Love the new sound effects and the Steven Spielberg level effects! I thought I was the only one who was dissatisfied with previous work. Funny how we learn to do things better by doing things worse. Learning tricks like measure twice, drill once as you so slyly demonstrated! Absolutely ingenious way to crimp a cable. Why didn't you show me that about a year ago when I bought a tool that about as effective as just running over the connection with a lawnmower?
