What do you think was the main reason for a 2-second improvement in just 7 weeks?
@DavidWestcough12 күн бұрын
@@haggui4304 it was a 2 second improvement over a year, apologies if I wasn’t clear. It was 0.92 over that long, which was partly down to my dive and I think the pool was a little better here too.

I was swimming the other day and hit the lane rope. It hurt like hell, and now there's blood under my nail. I need to recover, and it's going to take about a week. This is going to be a challenge, as I will need to stay off my feet and not do any swimming. I am looking forward to getting back in the pool and swimming again.
@Adrian-no8xpАй бұрын
I'm a swimmer, and I recently tried using drag gear. I wore it for a few weeks leading up to a competition. Then, a week before the competition, I stopped using it. I wanted to see if I was faster without it. I gained muscle but I'm not sure if I'm faster.
@DavidWestcoughАй бұрын
Gaining muscle means you can produce more force however, you need to get used to producing that greater force in your stroke. If you’ve gained muscle, the extra speed should come, remain patient!

How can I improve my swimming dolphin kick? What are the keys to a good dolphin kick? Any tips or drills you can share?
@DavidWestcoughАй бұрын
Just keep practising! The more you do it, the better you’ll get because you’ll get a better feel for it! Try to do one more dolphin kick off of each wall/turn than you normally would and keep building up!
@Adrian-no8xpАй бұрын
This video shows you why good recovery is so important. I've seen swimmers who don't take recovery seriously, and it really shows in their performance. Recovery is just as important as training, and swimmers who ignore it will pay the price. If you want to be successful in the pool, you need to take recovery seriously. If you want to be the best you need to take care of yourself.

Hey David, nice video! I hear you on the 3 total spring efforts. You think a recovery day per week necessary? What about total swim weekly volume?
@DavidWestcough2 ай бұрын
Hey! I think a recovery day per week depends on how much you do on any given day and how trained you are. The more trained you are, the less need there is for one. Similarly, if you’re keeping daily volume low (3x sprints per day) then, a recovery day becomes less important. The ethos of what I said was trying to keep daily training volume to a level that is sustainable daily (as training frequency is important). Again I think total weekly swim volume depends on how trained you are / how much you can endure, enjoy and can keep focus when doing skills. That number will vary from person to person but, the ethos of my video was trying to minimise the amount of training volume and maximise efficiency / effectiveness.

Just swam at my first meet. My backstroke was not very good since I did not know when to flip turn. My breaststroke was fast but I went out too fast and I was tired and not used to having a wall. My freestyle was about my average time. Long course is much harder than yards.

Believe in JESUS today, confess and repent of your sins. No one goes to heaven for doing good but by believing in JESUS who died for our sins. "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
