If you want a green get the dr squatch edition. It is the mild version only. I have one. Color is on point. Look for coupon squatch codes if you are interested.

Hey - nice shave. I have the splash sample. Is the soap the same as far as it being a bit herbal? I get a herbal note initially on the splash.

Great shave. It is my fav fall scent however it gives me a mild reaction to my sensitive skin. It is supposed to be 5 scent notes representing an apple cider mill. Good stuff. The linseed oil comes through for me on the soap but not splash.

What a cool razor you used. How did you remove the knot? Did you steam it out?
@jonathandavis24192 күн бұрын
It was loose already, so i just soaked it in hot water for awhile, then pulled the knot out while twisting. Usually doesn't work that easy, but got lucky with this one.

The Osprey has a fixed spring which can't really be taken apart without some specialized mechanical tools...The Konsol can be taken apart and cleaned in the spring area. Shane decided to go looks over function. The Konsol is the modernized version of a vintage Gillette but actually adjustable and easy to take apart and clean/repair if need be. Its really a no brainer if you want a high tech razor with actual service parts. Blackland has no service parts on the shelf for the Osprey. For 350$ I'd expect something nicer.

@@pjwroblewski thanks for checking! It's unfortunate that they made it basically a proprietary blade loader. I suppose I could pull a blade out, reverse load it into a different injector, I do that with the schick b20 sometimes

Probably the most badass-looking razor of all time, but unfortunately the paint chips off it just like it did my blue Rockwell 6S. It doesn't affect the quality of the shave, but it looks ugly.

Handsome shave, looked efficient and smooth. I have had two Maggard razors slant razors heads which were good for the money. Best one I had was the Wunderbar by Razorock , sadly had to sell for finance reasons 😢, Razorock had a model before for Wunderbar called the Stealth Slant which looks like the Holy Black Slant. Good review as always. It's amazing how a scent note list of 47 items can be overpowered by one or two and so that's all you get to smell. Not sure if it's my poor nose or if these artisans just overdo the marketing nonsense. At least it lathers well! Thanks for the video.

Nicely shaved. Personally, I like talc. I know I'm an outlier, but my favorite base of A&E is the original Kaisan base. It works so well for bowl lathering. Don't get me wrong, all the bases I own from A&E are fantastic.

What's the grind on your straights? How would you describe your stubble? Fine, average, coarse.
@jonathandavis241924 күн бұрын
The one I used today is extra hollow. I've got a few different ones though, up to a full wedge. Coarse hairs.
@obeconoberougle949724 күн бұрын
@@jonathandavis2419 I was curious as I too have coarse stubble and have found that an extra full hollow is what I prefer overall. I seem to get my best shaves with them.
@jonathandavis241924 күн бұрын
@obeconoberougle9497 I don't know that I've established a preference yet. The full wedge was interesting, felt completely different and was super quiet.
@obeconoberougle949723 күн бұрын
@@jonathandavis2419 I don't have a full or true wedge myself. I do have a 15/16 and 5/8 near wedge though and two 6/8 half hollows. The lack of auditory feedback they provide isn't as satisfying to me compared to a full or extra full hollow. The various wedge grinds and even a half hollow is supposed to tackle tough stubble better according to what I've read. But those are recommendations and don't always pan out. That's why any straight shaver should try various grinds to discover what works best for them. I like all the grind options. But the blade flexibility of a full and extra full really allows them to follow the contours of the face so nicely. Just like with DE blades, it's also a YMMV issue with the grinds. I didn't realize that when I started with straight razors. 🤣

Awesome video Jonathan! I swear it’s like you made this video for me 😂 I love SE razors. I just ordered the shield AC brass. I was looking at the vector too. I loved the looks of the shield in brass and a few gents said the same as you. Better than the vector and the brass was perfectly weighted. The shield AC was on BO for 2 months. He finally has them again. I love A&E but agree 100 % scents are too individual & I’ve had a few I didn’t love. Never hated any but luckily I get samples from TRC of A&E now if I can. I also couldn’t agree more. Clubman is my favorite “barbershop” scent & I just found out PAA clubguy is a dupe of it so I’m going to try the soap to match the clubman splash my wife & I love. I’ve tried barbershops from many vendors. As you said. Too much powder scent or they go too fancy and it ventured too far off barbershop to me. If clubguy is truly like clubman splash I’ll finally have my “barbershop” soap n splash set.

Clubguy is great, I got the EDP of the Buy sale trade group, one day I'll pick up the soap and splash!

@@jonathandavis2419 Latherhog had similar issue awhile back. I believe it was suspected blade loading that went wrong which led to blade misalignments. Once he fixed that his shaves were good.
