There was recently a shop fire there. That's the site of the Jackson Inn, one of the oldest historic buildings in the region. A half mile or so behind it is the Jackson Cemetery, oldest cemetery in the region. The cows of the old widow who used to live there used to get through the fence and onto the road all the time.
@MaynardCrow11 ай бұрын
I've wondered who owned it now. Haven't seen the old lady or her cows in years.

@BarbaraStephensonRealtor11 ай бұрын
This video was filmed on Hazel Dell Rd It does have a Castle Rock address but is nearly to the Kelso boarder. I do not know of any connection to the Jackson Inn or to a cemetery near by. There is a Jackson history in the Toledo area. Do you have any more information about the cemetery or the family name of the property owner?
@MaynardCrow11 ай бұрын
@@BarbaraStephensonRealtor I do not know who currently owns it. The Castle Rock zip code extends most of the way up Hazel Dell road. Kelso school district starts near the bottom of the steepest hill where that old barn is. Longview phone area codes start about halfway down the road. There is also a threshold where voting districts change, I think. It's kinda in limbo between places. Lexington, as far as I know, is still unincorporated. I heard they are building a school, but I wouldn't call it Kelso. If you look at the Castle Rock or Cowlitz County Historical Society sites, they probably have something about the Jacksons and their role in the early settlement of the region. The cemetery is south of the Bowler property, who used to be the local meat cutters. The cemetery is bordered by a cow pasture to the south. It was in poor repair for years. The Jackson Cemetery has a preservation society who have their own website, I'm sure, and have been trying to restore it for years.
@MaynardCrow11 ай бұрын
@@BarbaraStephensonRealtor Also, the video appears to be shot from Delameter Road. Hazel Dell is the first left past the barn you featured, if you turned right off of Cline Road.

Continued: how did the homeowner miss papering the ceilings. 3. The carpeting would have to be replaced with carpeting or wood /wood type flooring in almost all the rooms. Removing the 70's tile in the kitchen would be quite a job and then put in a kitchen floor. 4. The hot tub electrical connection looks sketchy. The ceiling over the tub looks sketchy also, rot? 5. Replacing the cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom will be costly even if they are only painted. 6. The maroon tile in the bath is going to be a challenge. 7. Got to remove the pink toilet. All this work will cost $$s---money a flipper will not want to do unless the house sells very, vert cheep. 8. Using the "major tv network" rehab show to do the work may not be such a good idea. A. Who pays for the work. B. So many people who used shows to rehab their homes got a nightmare in return. Many of the homes turned out to be uninhabitable. So, if anyone is considering the TV rehab show to help out -- let buyer beware and do your homework. 9. The home would work if one were running a group home for the blind. That would be an ideal buyer. Otherwise, best of luck to you and enjoy all the traffic & noise the county fair (located next door) will bring.
@BarbaraStephensonRealtor3 жыл бұрын
Megan, You have some good points. Rehab is never easy, with or without some TV show's help. I have remodeled this home in my mind several times. I love the idea of blowing out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room to make one big open kitchen space. It is so rare to find 1/2 an acre in town with a huge shop, I though a contractor company that wants a home office would also be a good fit for this property. The county fair is only 4 days out of a year. The other events are much quieter and spread out so it wouldn't be constant. I would love to walk to the farmer's market on Saturdays. Have you tried the cookies??? SO good.

Problems with this house: 1. Location. Next to the county fairgrounds and 2 parking entrances. Would imagine at least once a month the traffic is so bad that it is next to impossible to get out of the driveway. If one gets out, the traffic trying to get in would be just as bad. 2. Only a home buyer would be interested in this home. A flipper would have to remove & pain all the wall papered walls. I believe all walls, except the kitchen are wallpapered.
