Hi There. Do you still have your Touareg? I still have my ‘05. Just this year, after being in colder/wetter climate, she’s started having a minor main seal leak, also the P/S high pressure and return lines are leaking. The rack bellows boots as well. Suspension bushings are showing some wear. Other than that, she still runs great. Powerful, tows like a champ. About 8K from replacing timing belt and related front end components. One of the cheapest, and best upgrades for early Touaregs are LED headlights, both H11 and H9 (with resistors in line required to avoid in dash ‘Check Lights’ errors.

I sold mine a couple years ago, it did have a power steering line leak on which I replaced the clam and fixed the problem with. For your power steering fluid don't forget to replace it, it's a mineral oil and not synthetic fluid. Putting in synthetic fluid might cause leaks to appear. Best to stick to OEM fluids (power steering, brake fluid, coolant). I used Castrol full synthetic oil with no issues. Yes LED bulbs worked great for low and high beams. I had also replaced my marker lights and fog lights with LEDs.

I just bought a Touareg 3.2 v6 and I'm not sure I made a good purchase, especially because it has a salvage certificate, but from what I see, the truck is in good condition. What would you recommend I return it or give it a chance? Maybe the gas consumption scares me 😅

Since your truck did not come with the cylinder deactivation because of the chip shortage, is there a flapper valve behind the muffler? I know on the engines that have the AFM, the flapper valve come OEM to help when in 4 cyl. mode. I'm just wondering since your truck did not come with AFM if Chevy left the exhaust unchanged or actually removed it since there is no need for it.

If you are referring to the flappers near the rear axle they were not there. Just a mesh screen where the flappers would normally go.

Tbh the maintenance is maintenance starter water pump belts brakes are all normal wear and tear cant expect things to go 200k without replacing them. If it was motor and trans yes its to much money to dump. The 2.7 out of the two engine options is probably the worst to have tbh. Why like this video said to replace a starter you had to lower the engine weird number two the waterpump design its an internal design which is dumb. Its a good motor when maintained but to work on it does suck. The 2.4 is good to have things are more accessible on it. The 3.0 is in between the two others but like the 2.4 the 3.0 last long with minimal issues. The 2.7 you can make them reliable but you got to be concerned with the waterpump for sure. Ive seen some 2.7s go 300k some blown at 120k due to its waterpump design. The 3.0 has seen 300k as well lots of them past 200k the 2.4 and 3.0 are found in mitsubishi cars as well.
