I've been wearing my Arcteryx Aerios GTX fl 2 low for 2,5 years, primarily in autumn/winter/early spring (-20 C to +10 C). Love them! As I live in Switzerland we did 2 years ago a ski camp with our school. The first day was extremely snowy, almost a blizzard (snowflakes were hurting a little bit). But the following days where nice wheather. It was the most enjoyable week I had.

Very informative video . I was lucky enough to visit just before Covid hit and loved Samoens.I ski out of busy periods normally but with 3 young grandchildren I will be skiing more at peak times so yes for those many skiers young and old this issue needs sorting

Hi William, thanks for watching and your comment. Completely agree that this needs addressing. With young skiers in tow the rush to beat the queue is not realistically going to happen. Especially if you need to drop at ski school etc. As someone who LOVES Samoëns, I do hope they can sort this

Magic Pass is superb, but there is very limited cheaper accommodation in Switzerland. I skied for 5 weeks this past season and found the cost of accommodation to bring the overall cost way above going to one of the top French resorts for the same duration.
@Simonjburgess2 ай бұрын
It’s I suppose a case of where you are prepared to sacrifice. If I compare Grimentz and Val Thorens, my Grimentz accommodation is cheaper than one week in Val Thorens and is nicer and for a much longer duration. VT accommodation was the worst apartment I’d ever stayed in and still paid lots for it. Location was great but that was about. My Saas Fee accommodation this year is more expensive and I’m staying in Saas Grund. But there were way cheaper/less nice options available in Saas Fee but for this trip I prioritised comfort. All swings and roundabouts
@hiddenmountainski9 күн бұрын
@@Simonjburgess I agree. We can find perfectly cheap accommodation. The luxury accommodation is expensive though and random taxi rides can be extortionate. A well placed trip can be great value and the prices for a drink in the Valais are much better than in the three valleys
@matthewallen43662 ай бұрын
So thats the Pass sorted how do you travel and stay on a budget ?
@Simonjburgess2 ай бұрын
That’s the hardest part. Travel I drive most trips. That’s either because I’m sharing with others to drop the cost or I take my dog. Food.. I don’t eat out much, lots of home cooked food and this goes for lunch on the mountains… sometimes a splurge on food happens but it’s not my regular. Stays - I’ve booked AirBnBs within driving distance/linked by transport of multiple resorts. This is how I will be able to travel between and see a few. Staying slightly lower and travelling up makes a big difference for cost. For example staying in Saas Grund and using the free buses to access Saas Fee. When I visited Anzere I stayed in a small village 20 min drive away. This also meant I was able to visit lots of other resorts as well. If you need any help planning or bouncing ideas let me know,

Arc'teryx.

I found your videos this season and I have enjoyed the info and way you present it. I'm curious how you work and ski so much. Like you I had an epic pass with a view to working UK hours on US time (this being able to board in the US day). However with a bad season there I ended up in Europe which is quite limited on the Epic pass. A tips video for maximizing a season would be good. I'm off to check out the magic pass!
@Simonjburgess2 ай бұрын
Thank you, I really appreciate that comment! I think the Epic in Europe is only going to get better. Crans Montana meant to be added this year… and I’m sure they’ll keep at it. Regardless I loved Andermatt so that would keep me occupied with the odd trip to the 3 Valleys and Dolomites etc! Magic Pass though is soooo good. Many of the resorts are smaller lesser known resorts which often means no crowds! There are also some bigger names like Saas Fee on there as well. For me, I’m a teacher, so every school break is a ski holiday for me with a couple of weekend trips chucked in as well. Trying to maximise the time off as much as possible. I hope you can find a solution that works well for you!
